Silent Posted October 28, 2018 Do you collect broken dollfie dream parts? If yes, how and from where do you get them? Do you enjoy refubrishing and mega reparations? baldylox Posted October 28, 2018 Do you collect broken dollfie dream parts? If yes, how and from where do you get them? Do you enjoy refubrishing and mega reparations? When I was a teen I was allways fascinated when I found topics about making hybrids from this forum or from "for the love of the doll" blog Yep, I collect broken bits, parts and girls! I really enjoy that part of the hobby too. I love taking unwanted or broken dolls, redoing them and giving them a second chance at life. I'd say probably half the girls I own were rescues of one sort or another. It's a lot of hard work sometimes to clean up and fix broken girls but the feeling of seeing her remade and happy is tops! Check this thread to see my biggest project to date. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16097&start=0&hilit=project+sinon As for where I get them, here on the marketplace is a good start. I also frequent Facebook doll groups, there's been lots of stuff I've picked up there.... even whole dolls that just needed a repaint and some stain removal for less than $100 USD! You just have to check these places often and do your homework on pricing and what works with what in order to do it and not waste time or money. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
BeyondTime Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) I do the same as well. I have 4 dolls who were either broken or stained at the time of purchase, and which I restored. I also tend to hang onto the old parts in case I need to cannibalize something from them. If I am looking for a used limited I'll usually take the one that has the most wrong with it, as long as the head isn't damaged in a way that can't be repaired without wiping the original faceup. Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
Bellatrix Posted October 29, 2018 I mostly use broken parts to make tests (like stain tests from clothing, or to try new dyes and paints for my customs). I keep the broken bits (expecially the skeletons parts) to disassemble, and fix other parts (for example, I broke a shoulder hoop a while ago, and I kept the neck joint to fix another broken neck joint). I don't mind rescueing damaged girls and give them a new life, but it is something I must be in the mood for: it is quite of a long process everytime, and I am usually too busy to get into big projects ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
