Doll Point Akibahara

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, my trip is coming up in a couple of weeks, so people I'm going with are preparing to convert currencies when a friend brought up that some stores may not accept credit cards.

So I'd like to ask those that been to Doll Point akibahara for help and guide, like

1)if DPA accept credit cards?

2)is it difficult to ask for things in English, like when doing DD choice?

3) other things you would recommend in DPA?

Thank you so much!

1They do accept cards. Others may know if there are any rejected cards but I tend to hear about most people using cards there.

2)According to asianed as well as others that have done it, DreamChoice is not difficult even with a language barrier. From what I can tell, the parts menu is almost entirely image based, so there'd be mostly pointing/nodding. It seems very straight forward, and in the time its been around a LOT of people who can't speak Japanese have done it, so the staff will definitely be used to it.

3) Be sure to bring your passport. I'm not sure how much you have to spend because they may have changed it - its either 10,000 yen or 5000 yen, and you get it tax free. Obviously either amount is not difficult to do in a Volks store, especially if you are doing Dream Choice. It will probably save you around 5000 yen or more for dream choice alone.

4)

a)If you are getting a brown girl (which you wont be able to due to the season, but this is just general advice), make sure you pick up any option parts you want like hands or busts, as this is the only place to get them.

b)If you want a brown girl no matter what, arent fussed with what type, dont want a Dream Choice exclusive head like 12,13,14 or 16, or -do- want an exclsuive head like 11 or 15, but its not the season for brown skin (ie, now, its April until the end of September), you can hope for a brown D'Coord, which you can get from either Akiba or Yokohama's Volks year round. The option parts are also available year round, although I t-think- they're still Akiba only and not at Yokohama.

c) Use the diorama photo spaces but remember to ask the staff first! It would be great to take a commemorative photo of your new girl.

Oh thank you! Passport part is helpful!

Yea I found that out from the site that brown skin will not be available during my visit hopefully I could find DCoord version! Thank you so much!

If you want a DCoord, my other advice is to check back another day if there are none you want, and to remember to check Yokohama too. (It's about half an hour from Akiba by train).

Couple of days ago I just survived the ordeal of flying from US, 20 hours flight with my toddler to Malaysia so my family can care for him while I'm on my trip! I already had a lot of 'barang titipan', three bags full. So I didnt bring any of my DDs.

That said I'm also hoping to bring one back from Japan to take space in of those empty bags when I go back home to US looking forward to fall in love and kyaaa!!
