DD Boys vrs Custom DD Boys

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to get a Dollfie Dream boy, whether that be a custom Volks DDS Boy or finding the actual DDS Boy body. I was wondering if anyone had pictures that could show like a comparison on the differences? I know the 55cm Obitsu male body is impossible to use for a boy that wears male and female clothing so that's out of the question for the character i had in mind. What im trying to find out is how different a DDS Base Body with an SS Bust looks compared to the actual Boy Bodies? Pictures would be good so i can see the differences.

If you can get the DDSB, go for that. Perhaps find a 9S split to join or something? Unless you were looking for NS, of course.

The SS bust IS small, but they do still have visible breasts. My two custom boys currently have an SS bust and an S bust and I can't put them in anything form fitting because of that. The SS bust is definitely the easier of the two to cover when you need to though. But I like things like t-shirts and hoodies and sweaters. That's how I cover it up on my boys.

I like the lighter skinned dolls a bit better, i don't know why they're just prettier to me. 9S would be good, but if i couldn't get just his body then i'd try to get Len's body. I know the Smart Dolls extra small bust headlights aren't to noticeable so i'm thinking of going with a custom Smart Doll Boy. For the character i have in mind he's feminine so the Obitsu body definitely wont work. Most of my OC's are pretty feminine. Did you try to sand down the Headlights on the SS Bust? I know you can sand down the vinyl slightly.

Before the DDSBoy was a thing it seemed like many people made boys just using the regular DDS body with SS bust. I think that works better than smartdoll or DD, since those two bodies are more adult and have more hip to them.

Jazijaz used DDS for two of their boys and they look great: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12837

I was thinking of just doing that since i'm pretty sure it's going to be impossible to find Len's body and until volks makes a standard boy we're just stuck making our own. How well does male clothing fit onto the DDS Body?

I dont really know what you mean by 'male clothing', because most 'male' doll clothing is made for resin BJDs which are a lot less skinny than a typical DD is. So the fit is usually a bit baggy whether its a boy or girl body. However, for boys characters this isn't really an issue as a lot of boys clothes is on the baggy side anyway.

My boy is a DDS boy, and the sizing isnt honestly that different a DDS girl. He typically wears SD13 stuff. I have better luck with shirts than with pants - I was very happy that Volks released those skinny jeans for DD and DDS though, as they fit him perfectly.

Theres a clothes-maker called Bear Seller on Taobao that use Lens to model a lot of their clothes, which is handy as you can see how they look on a DDS boy. ACBJD acts as a dealer for them, some examples:

http://www.acbjd.com/bsb039-grey-p-11211.html?cPath=3_18

Its frustrating, but I am hoping that Volks will eventually have the boy bodies sold on their own and are just reallyslow at rolling them out. (The switch of all the bodies to the new f3 frame probably slowed this down more) If they follow the path DDP took, they will first be available only as D'Coords, then through Dream Choice, and then finally as base bodies. Given that they briefly showed the boys bodies in their DD introduction video they made recently, I'm hoping thats a good sign. But I think a flat-chested DDS is a good enough substitute until that happens - I think the femininty of the body can be hidden with clothes.

EDIT: why exactly is the 55cm boy 'impossible for a character that wears male and female clothing'...?

Seconding SD13. My DDS custom boys(so female body with SS bust) wear DD/DDS and SD13 clothes.

I was also meaning to ask about that with the 55cm too...lol. My other boy is the 55cm with different legs, essentially. The only time I run into an issue with that is when the bust size on a shirt is too large, but that's a problem for my SS bust boys too lol. He fits best in shirts made for DDS/DD. And he fits in the same skirts my DDS girl does. Which I usually buy SD13 size for her. You could run into an issue with dresses because of the hips and shoulders possibly, but I can't say I've tried that.

I was just told that the 55cm Obitsu body was to like....Thick? if that makes sense, like the torso and hips/thighs are to wide so it wouldnt be able to have female clothing to fit. Idk thats what someone told me.

The chest is sort of thick in the sense that it's just a wider shape than DDS, if that makes sense? The 55cm body has a bust size of 22cm, the equivalent of a DDS M bust, but the difference is in shape. But since most female SD13 and DD clothes are made for an M bust anyway, there is usually no issue. I only have one Volks shirts that doesn't fit properly in the front, so I think it was made for a larger chest size lol.

When it comes to shoulders, there is only a 1cm difference between DDS and the 55cm male. And the DDS has more hip at 23cm compared to 55cm's 21.5cm.

Here's the charts if you wanna take some closer looks for youself too dunno if you'd seen them, I know the parabox one is weird to get to these days.

(Unfortunately I'm no help with pants since my boy has longer legs and wears SD13 pants. I would think the 55cm could too, but they might sometimes be a tad long.)

The Obitsu 55cm body is always out of stock which apparently the bodies aren't being sold internationally to often anymore, I guess they don't make enough sales from other countries. The best choice would either be getting the DDS body or going with a Smart Doll girl and modifiying her

Also you can also look for the Visuadoll boys for sale on Mandarake, Yahoo Japan Auctions, etc. Two of the three Visuadoll boys were on Obitsu 55cm bodies with custom Visuadoll heads.
