DDS Sailor Mercury and Mars

These two look much better than Moon. I really didn’t think she looked like her character. These two look pretty good. I wonder if Jupiter will be DDS also has she supposed to be taller and curvier. I may want, but I think Judging by the style they are using I’m happier with m judging by the style they are using and happier with my mine.

Also what’s up with the gloves? They look terrible... Lol Volks

She's a DDS just like the product photo shows. The only Inner Senshi they might make as a DD is Makoto, and even she might be debatable.

 

I wonder why they bothered to specify "ドルフィードリームシスター" for Mercury and not for Mars. Poor Mars; Sailormoon-Official doesn't seem to be paying as much attention to you. ;D

These too look amazing! Sailor Mercury was always the Sailor I liked best, and in another life I would have bought her. . . . but the Nier dolls take priority for me and am not a fan enough to justify the purchase. If anyone does splits I would be interested in her outfit and wig (maybe).

 

I am extremely surprised by the likeness of the characters of these dolls. Sailor Moon herself was kind of 'eh' to me but these two are perfect. The gloves are still an issue it looks like, but hard to make doll gloves look good.

 

I cannot wait to see pictures of them by customers/owners!

There's only ever been one Sailor Scout that I've loved and wanted in doll form and it looks like she'll be made soon! That would be Jupiter! She's just the perfect girl IMO..... long legs, awesome ponytail and an attitude. So when she comes out I'll definitely be getting her.

 

As for these two, I think they look good but I don't want either of them. But I *DO* want the blue Sailor Mercury outfit set. Why you ask? So I can force my Rei to wear it for me. She'll kill me for sure but I want to see her in that soooo bad!

I'd almost bank on it at this point. The only thing up in the air in my mind is the Outer Senshi, and I can't honestly think of a reason for them not to make those if there is a market for them.

If they don't make all of the Outers, I'd bet on them making Saturn at least. She's such a fan favorite and I can see Saturn becoming one of those dolls that goes for an absolute fortune on the secondhand market very quickly. Plus the SM release was wearing her outfits from S so it'd make sense to make her, if not all of them.

Yeah, I wouldn't personally get Tuxedo Mask or Chibi-Usa, but I may end up having to hunt down an Usagi at some point if I got all four of the other Inner Senshi.

Ughhh....Ami is so undeniably cute! Something about her face is very cute and shoujo. I don’t have the funds for another girl right now, so I must resist....but gosh, she is tempting!

That's exactly how they should be done.

 

If they do release them all, and in pairs, you could pair Chibi-Usa either with Mamoru, with Setsuna, or with Hotaru in a release.

I’d love to see Chibiusa. Mostly because more MDD releases is always good but also because I’m so curious about what her wig would look like...

Sailor Moon as a franchise isn’t a huge priority for me, but I think I’d give in if (when) they release Saturn. Especially if she’s on the DDP body. Agh... my heart...

It makes me wonder if they will re-release this school uniform set with Minako, or if they will release different outfits with them. Makoto's uniform is different, so I would expect that one to be released with her.

 

With Minako you really would expect them to do the Sailor V outfit, so this could be the best chance to snag a school uniform for her. (Assuming of course that they make those two, but why wouldn't they at this point?)

I can understand that, and I bet you're not alone! The Sailor V uniform is iconic and so rarely appreciated.

Yes Minako maintains her unique Seifuku until the Stars season, presumably they plan on starting with the S outfits with this lineup so I'm guessing Minako and Mako will have their unique school uniforms when they come out!

 

I didn't really understand why they picked Moon's S outfits for her release rather than her original one, but if they plan on making all 9 senshi it makes sense; to my knowledge S is the only season that heavily features all nine girls + Chibiusa in their original outfits.

 

Saturn is also pretty tall in that season, too (at least when she's transformed), so I wonder if they'll go with a DDS body for her or a DDP so that she can wear her Mugen uniform? Edit: Actually iirc in that season she's around the same height as the main girls even when she's not transformed, so it could go either way.

She's very slender though, and I think overall DDP fits her better than DDS. Of course that doesn't mean Volks won't make her a DDS.

 

It can be problematic to figure things out based on the official artwork too. I don't know about Sailor Moon itself, but a lot of anime studios will farm out cell work to multiple art studios. The result is a lot of variation in character details. Ami could range from an SS bust to an M bust depending on the episode, and Makoto can be as much as a head taller than the other girls.

 

Naoko's official artworks are so soft and stylized at times too. I knew her art, and had nearly all the artbooks, years before I saw the show. I love her style in those pictures.

Sailor Mercury is so tempting. She is my favorite. But I'm so broke. I think my smart dolls might have to go if I really want Mercury.

 

I will have to think about it longer.

It has occurred to me that Mercury could well be my grail. My love of anime really was born from Naoko's artwork, and of all the characters she drew I liked Ami the best. In a way she lies at the root of both my anime and DD hobby.

 

I'm don't think she'll supplant Makoto as the princess of the house, but there is a fundamental symmetry to bringing her home as a DD.

 

These pictures took my breath away and through them I fell in love with the anime art-form.
