Hi all! I received the shipping notices few days ago! And I received both beauties & their school uniforms today!!!! I am so excited right now~~ >< Haha~ I registered an account to share my happiness with you all! I want to share their photos with you, but I am not sure how to upload pictures!! Ah!!

 

I think you have to get to 20 posts before you can post photos and hyperlinks.

 

Once you get to 20 posts the easiest way is to upload to a service like Flickr or imgur, and then use the photos hyperlink to post it on the forum. Just wrap the hyperlink like this:

I also received my Mercury today, and she's lovely. It's funny because I've never worried about damaging one of my resins from posing them, but I kept worrying I'd over stress her joints. Gotta get use to handling her.

Pretty sure the 20 posts also applies to marketplace access and sending PMs.

I can't remember about PMs but for sure the marketplace doesn't even show up until you have 20 posts.

I can't remember about PMs but for sure the marketplace doesn't even show up until you have 20 posts.

 

Correct on both counts. This rule was put into effect to keep bots and scammers/spammers with misleading links off the forums. This rule will still be in effect for new users on the new forum setup.

 

It might be annoying at first but trust me, it's worth not having the deal with a ton of spam topics and comments being posted daily. We do still get the occasional one here and there but those get deleted as soon as people see them and report them to me.

Got my uniforms yesterday, so Serena will get changed into her's soon.

My Juban High outfit arrived from Volks Japan, and Ami looks perfect in it. Have one on the way from Volks USA for Usagi.

I finally deboxed Mercury and she is a d o r a b l e! I had some worries about the protective cap showing from underneath her wig, but luckily I was able to get it directly under the wig without popping out and ruining the look. 

Her wig was almost perfect but I had to straighten that weird kink they put in her bangs, also gave it a wash/condition with scalding hot water and styled her bangs with some water wax! 

She's stunning and might be my favorite between Mars and Mercury, but I haven't finished Rei's wig yet so we'll see. Usagi is still my #1 but Ami is creeping up behind her.

Bonus photo of Usagi in her new outfit from Mellideen on Etsy! I'm ecstatic to finally have this outfit, it's my favorite of her casual outfits in the anime.

I'm glad to hear that; I haven't gotten a wig with a dark cap yet where I need a wig cap but I've been worried about them showing when I do need to do that as I see them a lot in pictures. I figure it's even harder to hide where there is a part at the hairline like this.

That was my primary worry as well, and it turns out that Skin Protect tape can cause vinyl distortion if left on for more than a few weeks so that plan went out the window, and silicone caps provide no protection against staining. You can definitely situate the cap to be right underneath the wig so that it provides protection without showing in the front, it just takes some maneuvering to get it right but it's worth it. I plan on lining the inside of her wig with Skin Protect tape as well but the wig cap is behaving for me so far!

It is, however, showing a bit at the side and bottom of the head so I would recommend trimming those places or even sewing it to the inside of the wig and trimming it to fit. I think you can find smaller wig caps from places other than Volks, too- I know Coolcat has one that seems to be smaller/tighter than Volks' and the lacey edges should make it easier to hide underneath the wig.

The cool cats caps are tighter and more form fitting on the head, but the lacy edges don't protect against color migration. I usually use them on wigs with Bangs and fit the wig so it's not sitting on the lace, and the lace itself just gets hidden by the bangs.

Ughh Mars' wig is driving me absolutely bonkers, and I thought she would have the easiest wig!

The cut of the bangs is so, so weird- the left side is longer than the right and all of the shorter hairs on the very bottom layer, all point to the right but the individual locks are so far apart that instead of getting the look they were going for on the prototype, you just get these random thin locks pointing to the right and popping out from underneath the rest of her fringe, making it impossible to tame the fringe into an organized shape. And they're a little too thin on the left so parting them at all results in the cap showing through so she looks like she's balding lmao. 

I tried to brush them out to fully cover her forehead, but since the far left portion is so much longer than the rest it ends up covering the left eye almost completely. 

Sigh. I don't want to cut the left side to match the right because there might be some importance to that section being longer, but it's pretty impossible to style them the way they are right now. I'm gonna need to heat the fringe in order to get those under-pieces to lay flat. I'm not really a fan of the style on her prototype's bangs in the first place but it's pretty impossible even to get that style with how thin the fringe is. 

I already had a wig in mind to replace this one, but I prefer the skin-top on her stock wig so I'll need to figure this one out before getting a new wig. At least it looks cute from the side lol.

Should I be worried that I've only received Mercury and not Mars or their outfits yet from Volks Japan? My husband also got winning notifications and they haven't even taken payment yet... 😕

Did you receive shipping notifications for Mars and the outfits? It sounds like you probably ought to contact Volks, just in case—particularly if your husband is still waiting to be invoiced.

Your Mercury is the cutest I've seen so far, the extra work you put into her wig really shows! Mar's might be giving you troubles but I'm sure you'll have her wig looking on point in no time as well

Thank you so much! I actually just finished Mars' wig and luckily it came out perfectly! 

  I left my doll room last night and after about 20 minutes of letting my frustration fester and grow, I just HAD to go back in there and fix her wig some more, fortunately I was able to get it into the exact style that I wanted for her!

I decided to cut the left side to match the right, wash it again, flat iron the bangs to refine the curl and then leave it to dry with a stocking over the bangs to flatten them down some. Now they're perfect, and I can either do a side-parted bang or have the middle separated a little bit for that ''hair in my face' vibe that Mars tends to have. I absolutely cannot pick a favorite now lol, Mars is absolutely stunning and they perfectly captured her with this faceup. 

I also had to go through and flat iron the shaft of her hair because it had this weird, frizzy kink in the middle (presumably to give volume but it was ugly lol) I'll put on her tiara, choker and gloves another day but I just want to enjoy her perfect hair for now.

I emailed them right after I posted here and they got back to me yesterday! The rest of my stuff is on the way and my husband got invoices to pay and I imagine since we paid right away his order will be on the way too. Basically got an "oops, sorry about that... thanks for being patient." >.<;

I went by their office yesterday to pickup Mars and Lady Oscar. Got to see their new place, and I think they got a pretty good upgrade. They have a waiting room with a few dolls on display and their business offices are in their own area separate from where the customers come in to pick stuff up. Even saw one of their photo setups  

Mars’ sculpt captures her look perfectly.  I think of the three released so far, she’s closest to the character art. I hope Minako, and Makoto are as good if they get released.
