Wayfinder Posted November 25, 2018 Autumn is well under way, and so naturally it was time to take Beani's Hanako in her autumnal best to Yoyogi Park for some photos. Yoyogi Park is a huge park sandwiched between Harakuju station, Shibuya's NHK building, and Shinjuku's skyscraper district. It's one of the larger parks in Tokyo, featuring wide lawns, ponds, forested areas, people practicing dance routines, amateur fashion photography, various sports, and so on. It also contains a ton of ginko trees, which means golden leaves, which means... On the red side of the ledger, this meant that there wasn't a lot of time. On the green side: Hanako and Autumn Sun 1 by Way Finder, on Flickr Hanako and Autumn Sun 2 by Way Finder, on Flickr Hanako and Autumn Sun 3 by Way Finder, on Flickr Hanako and Autumn Sun 4 by Way Finder, on Flickr Hanako's a gorgeous girl. She's got a laid-back natural glamour about her, an unaffected prettiness that elevates any outfit she's in. I cannot say the same for some of the full-sized girls nearby who were also having camera lenses pointed at them. This explains the double-takes that Hanako was getting from passers-by. Hanako and Autumn Glamour 1 by Way Finder, on Flickr Hanako and Autumn Glamour 2 by Way Finder, on Flickr As the sun dipped below the treeline the chill set in, so it was time to pack up and seek a more open area where the backscatter from the sky would give us enough light to work with. Hanako and Autumn Chill by Way Finder, on Flickr We found it near the park fountain, where a convenient bench had just opened up. People in this area were also interested in Hanako; I suppose doll photography isn't common enough that the average parkgoer is likely to have seen it before. Yoyogi Park is all about the ginko trees, but fortunately there were a few momiji trees near the pond. Hanako and Momiji by Way Finder, on Flickr Dusk was setting in and the lamps were turning on, forming islands of light in between the trees. This was Hanako's first trip outside; it was most enjoyable. I forgot to bring a grey calibration surface with me so I was lucky that her outfit included a lot of grey. The nice thing about being in a place like a large park is that there's lots to try - there was no plan, just "let's go and take some autumnal photos" and the park provided lovely opportunities. Monty Posted November 25, 2018 Lucky! I've always wanted to go to Yoyogi (...or...anywhere scenic really) in Autumn but I never managed to travel anywhere in Japan during that period because I would always be too busy or broke. I've only been to Yoyogi in summer and winter, but spring and autumn seem to be the most beautiful. She looks well-dressed for the weather as well. Her whole colour scheme is extremely fitting. *twitter*instagram*art*

I think it's true anywhere that Spring and Autumn are the prettiest, though when snow settles enough here to white the place out it can be very pretty. That hardly ever happens for very long though. I often feel that I should take more outdoor doll photos. It's a sin to live somewhere so pretty and mind-your-own-businessy and not take the girls out. I think the Imperial Gardens are next on the list. There are some lovely spots there; I'm sure His Majesty wouldn't mind.

Beani Posted December 11, 2018 Thanks to everyone for the kind comments about my girl. I think Wayfinder did a great job photographing her. Those are some really nice shots! The area is very pretty and Hanako's eyes are a very pretty color. I was particularly glad her eye color showed up cause it’s so hard to capture them! I’d love more of these eyes but sadly have no idea where they came from as they were just included with the head on YAJ with no comment about them.
