HELP, PLS! How to make my KOS-MOS looking like someone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi again,

Today I had more luck with the modifications, but I badly need some suggestions from anyone who cares to give one or more, please. The sculpt is too lifelike for me. I am trying to make it more anime-like.

This is what she looked like before:

This is what she looks now, after I made her nose more concave, the bridge of the nose more sharp, nostrils less prominent, chin made pointy. And I seriously sanded off those heavy brow bones! Do you notice the difference? Sasara beside her is helping me with the shape of the nose.

My biggest question now is what to do with her lips? Any suggestions, please?

Update.

Made chin even more pointy; elongated and lifted the outer corners of the eyes; removed lip paint and gloss with extremely hot water and a toothbrush; carved inside the upper lip.

When I said that this girl has been through a lot I didn't know through how much exactly. The putty holding her eyes was somewhat strange and had a funny smell and consistency, so I got rid of it right away. Little I knew that it reacted with vinyl - inside her eye sockets it became brittle and crumbles and flakes. Can anything restore it back to health? under these cirbleepstances I think that sending her off to an artist will be a waste of funds. She will be my favorite guinea pig for now.

Still waiting on suggestions on how to style her lips, pretty please with a cherry on top!

This is my girl now and we are bonding like nobody's business:

I made her philtrum and reduced lower lip. What do you think? Does she still look like Kos-Mos? I need some constructive criticism, please!

Honestly, i really like what mods youre doing to the lips!

and without the sculpts very distinct nose features, she's def looking more and more like a different girl

Dear Chise, thank you so much for your feedback!

Well, the least task I've accomplished already - this girl doesn't look like Kos-Mos anymore. (happy dance here)

I guess I will tweak her lips a bit more. If the worst comes - I still will be able to sand them off. And maybe reduce her nose. I did want it longer, but she reminds me of Pinocchio now.

To me, the biggest defining feature of KOS-MOS's sculpt is her heavy brow which I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of. I really like how you reduced it while keeping it natural, it definitely changes the whole vibe of her sculpt. The reshaping of her lips is also coming along well. Good luck!

I have just seen this topic, after wanting to offer my help to "fix" her according to your tastes.

Although I like the way you are modifying the face shape overall, I warmly suggest to stop retouching the eyeholes. The bigger you make them, the harder it gets to find matching eyes, and although I understand your wish to achieve an anime-like look, the face shape is way to small to welcome *huge* eyeholes like that.

If you really want to emphasize that part even more, i suggest to sand the inner corner a little bit, since it looks like you are focusing on doing that mostly on the outside, and the eyes look quite far apart now, imho.

Dear Astraea and Bellatrix,

I am sorry for keeping you both waiting for my reply, but this is what happens to my hands after some serious work like mods or handling heavy objects - they stop functioning for a day or two. Now I recovered.

I wanted to thank you for your kind words of encouragement. It means a lot when someone sends positive vibes your way! And I wanted to stress that I did not want to "blemish" Kos-Mos sculpt in any way! She is a unique beautiful girl and we would've been bonding just fine if not her damaged artist face-up. I hope I did not offend Kos-Mos fans in any way!

Dear Bellatrix,

Thank you so very much for your suggestion and the nice way you've put it! I thought about keeping the eyeholes on a small side. And I was going to have just that first round of elongating her eyes outwards. But when I sanded it to smooth the edges, damaged from putty vinyl crumbled and I had to fix that crack. Now I reached the spot where it doesn't crumble anymore. I am happy with the way it turned out and relieved that the head did not deteriorate completely and still can be turned into something beautiful. Let me PM you with the questions about possible commission tomorrow and thanks again for your input and being so inspirational!
