Anna-neko Posted December 6, 2018 (edited) Strap in everyone, La Pucelle summon is a doozy, and no Saint Quartz required (or rather, those dues been paid like woah) The Maid of Orléans continues to one up the Sabers, by having a bigger box!! It's same height as current special boxes are, but it's even deeper to accommodate all her stuff Nero and orig Saber boxes for scale. Her Grace's box seems practically tiny in comparison and she had a full armor kit.... Unlike Nero (and Alter ver2) - Jeanne's box art styles it similar to her Grand Order in-game summon card Unlike OG Saber back years ago... Jeanne's kit is carefully packed in plastic trays. This includes her sword, scabbard, banner pole pieces and all the armor. Included is an extra set of wrist joints, in black She herself is in usual plastic bag held on cardboard with white ties... except the rest of space is crumpled up paper (wonder if Volks had shipping issues and starting doing this for extra doll protection?) Have I mentioned her banner is ginormous???? And that's just the cloth!!! The pole is in 5 pieces to assemble Pretty pretty face. from some angles she's mischievous, from some serious Volks info looks a bit wonky.... Her sculpt info in case anyone needs it At this point I popped off the head and put it carefully away. Too many dark fabrics upcoming... do not need the stress of staining this early. All the usual papers Her paperwork is a booklet of multiple pages (these things just keep gettin longer!) Full info, if anyone wants to zoom in and read it Kinda cute that newest Notes is now bilingual. Entire first half is Japanese, then second half full English Ok, pieces out... let's do this thing!! First up, all the clothes. The outfit does come with tights (sorry thought it was full body stocking earlier... misread a line. Just nice thickness tights) panties are included... which are black *looks into camera like in The Office* the stockings are surprisingly thick and looooong. If anyone was planning of flipping Jeanne to Sister body, that's your first warning right there Dress bodice is lined in white, with surprisingly minimal dark threads showing oh, but thats only the bodice. The sleeves are as black as they come Jeanne's default build is Shapely L-bust, and the dress is carefully sewn to fit exactly this. Not a millimeter to spare The lil bolero goes over it, and I am absolutely in love with the small embroidery details It's also really cute how the outfit isn't straight up monochrome, but complimenting shades of purple. The skirt's hem is also fully wired for any and all posing possibilities The arm covers will be going on next. They are as thick as the stockings, and fully lined in white The chain choker is one big piece. You can kinda adjust the top (bigger piece) chain, but the bottom chain is absolutely fixed that juuuuust fits Jeanne's bust I feel like Volks should have added at least 3 more chain links, but that may only be the cosplayer in me talking ... who's a human that enjoys being able to breath freely in her outfits, ya know? Now, from this point on.. if you still haven't taken off the head... what is wrong with you!! Do this NOW!! The armor pieces have absolutely left greasy residue on my fingers (vinyl 'sweats' probly) and as more armor goes on the heavier and less balanced she will get Also get your girl on a sturdy stand. All the armor is fidgety pegs and tiniest of hinges that will gleefully break if you look at them wrong, you want as much stability as you can get here Of all the armor, only ONE PART is magnets - the big corset piece. Everything else ... is pain and ...pain First up - the legs! Remember how I mentioned in other thread that the 'sandals' heel cover pops off? yeah.. there's a reason for that! If you try to fit the foot in without taking that piece off... IT WILL TRY TO BREAK OFF, and then u will cry Ankle/shin armor covers have tiny hinges to pop them open. Be careful on the pointy front bits, they are surprisingly sharp (was getting Nero's sword flashbacks) Pop these babies right on. While the sandals do have Left & Right, the armor does not. Both pieces have the hinge on exact same side The manual recommends main armor next, but I recommend doing that last. Lets do arms now The arms are three pieces of armor, plus the hand The upper arm pieces - one on left is pointing correct side up. Because Jeanne's arm is now padded out by the arm-covers, these may be slow getting on. Don't rush, slowly and patiently slide and twist them up her arms (it may feel 'stuck' around the thickest bit of elbow) The middle piece has swivel pieces for the elbow parts!! Both inner elbow and other elbow parts can move around, she can still has articulated elbows *_* Slide that on, position the correct section over general elbow area. Realize you turned her arm the other way, spend 10 minutes carefully rotating it to bend in correct angle vambrace just floats on up what's final for the arm? oh yeah hands. HANDS!! Volks outdid themselves and there are 3, thats right THREE, sets of armored hands! Not content with 1 "hold" design, there are 2 options here, depending on your object holding needs (aka sword or banner pole) Oh hey, remember I talked hinges? MOAR HINGES!! The wrist plates have a tiny hinge, so she can keep her wrists mobility in posing wrist 'mobility' in action At this point you might look down and realize that this is happening to her shins. This is infuriatingly ...normal... The tiny pegs never stay closed for long (stocking thickness be dammed!) but if you leave it be it never fully opens to fall straight off Ok, smaller armor set. Time for the main set piece! The big corset thing (seriously, what can we call it? It's not a breastplate, not really a cuirass, more of a bastardized Faulds kinda?) ahem... anyway! Armor is front and back pieces, held by magnets. Once on it will severely limit your girl's mobility - mostly she can't sit now, her thighs cannot bend at that angle. Turning her torso also becomes an interesting chore the hip plates attach separately, via tiny pegs. I personally found it helpful to attach the plates to ONE corset piece, then magnet snap the corset onto Jeanne and then attach the other side of hip plates Very very important - there are small hinges under those crosses!! To angle the hip plates whichever direction The manual points out to never angle the plates by pulling the bottom, and I cannot stress this enough!! You can feel the hinge with your fingertips, and that plastic isn't exactly model of strength... The look is comin together nicely, bit of hip plate flare and all Don't be like me, kids. Have your girl on a stand, not everyone is a crazy balance freak and now comes the most difficult part - her frellin sword-belt!! Now, the belt in general is already sewn together, with 2 hooks on the underside. Ooooh, but over the hook on the front side is a tiny loop and guess what! You have these tiny roundels that need to go onto those loops!! Goodluck! seriously tho, what I did was hold that tiny bit 'open' with a thick piece of cardboard, slide corner of carboard into the loop and slide the roundel on. Less stress than tryin to force it open with your fingernails etc etc... Luckily, it only needs to be done once, as the belt itself is always held up with the hooks Scabbard and sword. Sword's hilt comes apart for easier sliding into hand oooh BTW, the hilt isn't just randomly broken apart. There are, indeed, tiny pegs to align it closed correctly Protip - if it feels like the hilt just isn't coming back together, take a good look at it. You can't see the inside pegs, but outside design lines curve around - just line 'em up We're almost done!! Just headdress left to go! It's on a slanted headband to slide right on Inside the headdress is a textured piece, to act as a grip/haircomb to keep it on WE MADE IT!!! cfx Posted December 7, 2018 Very detailed info. She doesn't have the mega-braided ponytail thing? Or can I just not see it due to angles in the pictures?
Anna-neko Posted December 7, 2018 She doesn't have the mega-braided ponytail thing? Or can I just not see it due to angles in the pictures? She does have it, yes. With all the many pieces going on, just didn't feel like dealing with the braid too so Jeanne is wearing one of Saber's long wigs instead
sinclair Posted December 7, 2018 I was wondering about the hair, but it does still look very good on her. But boy, not only is she a Saberface, she is stunning! Congrats.
marishade Posted December 7, 2018 I LOVE her. Goodness she is gorgeous! Some of those plastic-snap pieces would worry me when moving her around in her armour, so if I had her she probably would not wear the armour too often. And that flag. . . and her sword. She just seems so perfect. Congrats on her coming home!
BeyondTime Posted December 7, 2018 Congrats, she looks really awesome. That wig looks great on her too. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
Riesz Posted December 7, 2018 Wow, she is absolutely stunning. I love the purple fabric and silver armour combo.
baldylox Posted December 7, 2018 Excellent tutorial! I loved all your detailed photos and how to put her together! That must have taken HOURS to do. I know everyone appreciates seeing this. Congrats on getting her! She looks amazing for sure. Now you just need pics of her and Her Imminence together all decked out! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Anna-neko Posted December 8, 2018 thanx everyone, but she's not mine to keep she's just visiting on her way to her proper Master ♥ Getting all those bits on and aligned really did take hours! You can tell her closeups are with natural light and as we get on with it hadda switch to flash =P no wonder Knights had pages and squires, it all makes sense now! Volks really outdid themselves designing all the movable parts, even tho in full kit standing up straight is her best option. Getting the main armor OFF her is already calling for serious exit strategy planning, 'cause heeeey you can't remove the main piece without taking out the hip plates first. Oh god.. how to get those tiny pegs back out The dress itself is weirdly meh compared to all else. Like the top has the perfect seams molding it carefully to her bust, with the adorable embroidered cap sleeves! ... and then the skirt is just like, here's a rectangle sloppily sewn on. Personally, not a fan of the hemline wiring as trying to set it up flowing fancy only goes so far before the hip-plate gets in the way (it's the Asuna-Titania issue all over again) I do hope they'll do Jeanne Alter release in future!! it's like Saber Alter, she could be in SWS skin with long wavy wig (though maybe no new giant banners)

I think properly ironed it will look nicer. It looks really frumpy on mine because it didn't travel well. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Sord Posted December 8, 2018 Very nice! Her face looks much better in your pics for some reason. Jeanne is now one of my top wished for DD's.
AwkwardMango Posted December 10, 2018 Wow! I think the giant banner is one of the highlights to her fullset. I like her sculpt, it looks cute too.
