Miku arrived today...there were issues. UPDATE

Recommended Posts

Newest update: I got her head back from the face up artist and I am very happy with her! I created a new post with her photo but will add it to this thread as well. I also received all the missing items from the seller.

UPDATE:

I asked the seller to send the missing items, and asked for a refund of $66 which is the cost of what I overpaid in shipping, and the cost to replace the stained thighs. I don't think this is unreasonable at all as I paid in full in good faith expecting a doll that she listed as pretty much perfect. She is now saying she lost her job and will pay when she can but she told me when I first contacted her after opening the doll she was getting paid on the 27th and would send everything and refund...now it is the 29th and I am getting excuses.

She could very well have lost her job, but in all my years of collecting I have heard every excuse and I just have a hard time believing anyone anymore. I am very frustrated. I told her I wanted this or I would contact paypal as I could have just sent everything back and asked for a full refund, and now I am thinking that is what I should have done. I don't feel I am being unreasonable

Update again:

She just messaged me and said she is trying to sell something and will have my refund to me by Monday, no mention of the missing items being sent out though, which she told me she would send them last week.Miku arrived today but there were issues

New update:

The artist was able to get most of the paint and staining off her face. She said the brows stained and there was yellow around the eyes she couldn't get out but said she can just put the new brows in the same spot and paint over the yellow.

I got a WIP picture of the face last night and she is looking good! I can't wait to see it completely finished!

The seller refunded $65, and says she will send the missing items as soon as she can, but so far the items have not been shipped out.

Original post:

The ad said no staining and she had several stains. The ad stated she came with two outfits, two wigs, and a pair of eyes. The extra outfit and eyes were not in the box, and the one outfit it did come with is missing the bottoms.

I searched the sellers name in the FB group today and found other posts about this doll where she stated she tried to remove the face paint, and paint the head but no paint would stick to it, and that she used several things on the head for paint removal/sealer. This was NOT disclosed in the ad, and if I would have seen those posts I don't know that I would have chanced buying the doll.

I am pretty unhappy, and sent the seller a message with all the photos and she apologized up and down and says she feels awful. I paid $550 plus $30 for shipping and I am not sure this was a good deal at all. The other issue is that when I asked what the cost was for shipping she said it would be $30, which I thought was a bit high from one state away, but figured priority with insurance it would be close enough, but it was sent parcel post with no insurance for $17.95.

So she said she would refund me the overage I paid for the shipping, and send the missing pieces with an extra wig to make up for it, and that when she gets paid maybe a small refund. I don't even know what would be fair at this point. I don't know if I paid too much, or if I paid a fair price to begin with.

I used a magic eraser on the marks on her and the ones on her arm came off but she had lines down the backs of both thighs and those are now fainter but still there.

The head is going off to an artist I contacted when I bought the doll to be painted. I messaged her telling her what the seller used on the head and she said she would see if she can work with it. I am hoping she can paint her, otherwise the head would be useless to me.

I guess at this point I just have to wait and see if the head is ok or not. The head had paint smears on it that I couldn't see in her photos and you can faintly see the brows that were removed with acetone.

Now even if the head can be painted, I don't know what a fair refund would be for the staining. She is saying she isn't familiar with these dolls and that she saw no stains, but then said she did see smudges of pastel from her other dolls and that zit cream should take care of it.

I really like the doll otherwise, but my first DD has left me feeling gutted and upset.

I'm sorry that the seller was not upfront with you about everything. I can't imagine how terrible that must feel. However, after looking at the pictures of Miku's head, I think that she is able to be painted. I think that the artist you are sending her to will be able to make her look the way that you want. I don't see anything from the photos that would tell me any differently. So at least that is something good.

I hope that you can get a partial refund for the doll, and get refunded for that excess shipping... I would never send one of these dolls by parcel post with no insurance. That's like asking for it to get lost or stolen. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I truly think that Miku can be saved and made into the girl you want her to be.

Thank you! I have been talking to a few people that feel the same, and it gives me hope! Once the artist gets the head and lets me know for sure then I have to figure out what a fair amount for refund would be. The seller is talking about sending me a wig for my trouble, but that doesn't really cut it for me. I just don't know.

I don't think a wig is nearly enough to make up for the differences between what you were promised and what you got.

Sorry you had so many problems with poor Miku I would at least be demanding what was promised in the original add/agreement plus refunding your shipping. That's just not acceptable, you agreed to pay a certain amount for particular items and services.

I think Miku is perfectly salvageable and will be lovely. Don't let this whole experience sour you toward Miku or future DD's, there are a lot great people/sellers on here! Be sure to keep us updated.

So far it does seem I will get what is missing plus the shipping difference. The head is out for delivery today so hopefully the artist will get started on it quickly so I know for sure it is ok. I don't expect her to with the holidays upon us though.

I will definitely keep this thread updated when I find out anything.

Since it is theMiku, she would be more expensive than "normal" DD's, so I'm having troubles figuring out if the deal was/is good or not :/

I don't know if a refund of about 100usd would be too much to ask? it WAS false advertising, and not in the condition you were told..

From what I can see the stains aren't THAT bad. Of course when the seller stated no stain you would want NO stains, but atleast they are not huge black ones I am SURE she will look awesme when she gets a faceup

I have come to the conclusion that as long as the artist can paint the face, I will ask for the missing items, the overage I paid in shipping and $54 refund which is the price to get new thigh pieces from Volks to replace the stained ones. I know I can use the zit cream, but honestly I don't like doing that and feel I shouldn't have to. I can just buy the thigh parts and replace the stained ones. I feel that is fair. However; if the head can't be painted because the vinyl was ruined with how she tried to remove the faceup then I will probably just want to send the entire doll back and get a full refund. That is where I am at right now.

The artist has the head but with the holidays hasn't been able to check it out yet. I am still waiting to hear back from her.

Yes, she sent the missing items and refunded me a bit for the stains on the legs that won't come out.

The artist did an amazing job with her face-up! As for the seller it's good they paid back $65 for overcharging you on shipping and finally sent those missing items. What an arduous journey, but you made it

I really was ready to just throw in the towel, as I didn't want to shell out more money to get her repainted and deal with the stains, but I am glad I did as I am pretty happy with her
