DD verses DDS?

Hi guys,

 

I have a few questions on DD and DDS. Dollfie Dream Sister is about 21.4 inches in height while Dollfie Dream is 22.4 inches, so very close height wise. Both body bases cost the same. They both have the same 14 points of articulation. DDS has slightly shorter legs and a slightly smaller bust, while her hips are a tad bigger.

 

So my take away is DDS is supposed to look a few years younger than DD (not sure why the hips are a tad wider, but that's from Volks' measurements). I'm wondering if I'm missing anything.

 

Is there a post on here that shows photo comparisons between the DD3 base and the DDS base? I found a post with photos comparing the different DD versions, but I don't think DDS was included there.

 

What is your personal preference and why? DD or DDS? Also, it seems they can wear each other's clothing. Is that correct?

shows DDS and DDII; there were only slight changes appearance-wise between DDII and DDIII which you can see here:

The new f3 frame bodies have made some other changes but the comparison between DD and DDS would still be about the same.

 

Most outfits fit either but there are a few exceptions; Volks stuff will list what it fits. Pants for DD will be too long on DDS obviously.

 

I'm not sure why the hips are larger, if that Volks spec is correct, but as you can see there the DDS body is shaped differently than DD.

Oh, thank you! I must have been blind to not see the DDS listed in that first post. That's the one I found when I originally searched. lol Maybe best not to post here on night when I can't sleep.

 

I have a stupid question. When they came out with the DD3 body, does that mean that the DDS body is also updated? like, the degrees that certain joints can bend, etc? I noticed in the first linked post, the degree that the DD2 forearm can bend up towards the chest is quite limited compared to DD3 (unless you pull and wiggle out the secret joint).

 

Arrgh sorry. It's just a kind of big investment and DD3 and DDS look so similar, even with the differences and it's making it hard for me to decide. lol.

DDS was released between DD2 and DD3, and it happens that DDS was the first to get various frame improvements; in other words DDS and DD3 are basically the same.

 

Both were recently replaced with the new "f3" frame versions which also incurred a ~4000 yen price increase, but for the time being you can still buy the previous versions as well.

 

Between DDS and DD3, typically the choice comes to whether you want a taller or shorter (or younger) girl; at least that's how Volks chooses the type for their licensed dolls. Of course for your own character especially if you just have one you can also choose on which just looks better to you.

I have heard some talk on the new f3 frame and plan on getting a body with that frame. I'm glad I waited a while and didn't get the III frame since the f3 frame was released a short time ago.

 

I'm glad my initial assumptions were correct. It threw me off because the DDS frame is so similar to the DD frame. Just a few differences in leg height and bust size and a general slimming. I'm used to seeing more of a drastic difference in frame types, including height, but I'm glad I have it figured out now.

 

While looking at the comparison shots from the post you linked to me, the DDS appears quite a bit shorter than DD. I actually whipped out photoshop to measure, and yeah the height difference is a smidgen under one inch. The photos made it look a lot larger than that for some reason. (to me at least)

DDSes are strange. Sometimes they look only very slightly smaller than a DD, and other times they look vastly different height. It depends on wig, outfit, shoes, stance... You get the idea.
