finnleo Posted January 30, 2019 So as I mentioned elsewhere I finally got around to tightening up Iori's DDP body, but instead of plonking her head on it, I had Mint's head floating due to a MDD-related project, so I decided to let her have a go on the newly sorted body. again I was reminded about the annoyance of getting together an outfit for a DDP... so in the end I cobbled together the Cosmo-sailor MDD set, with the skirt from Mk I. Illya's default skirt... Imaged are just resized off the camera, and Im trying to dial in a setup that will work every time any time, so, I dont end up with too much post processing... they might be a bit too cool and bright, but at least the white balance isn't bouncing around too much.. anyways.. hope you like.. mint022 mint023 mint024 mint025 mint026 mint027 mint028 mint029 mint030 mint031 mint032 mint033 mint034 mint035 mint036 I'll give the DDP-F3 body one thing.. I finally managed to pull this off... no strings or supports attached: mint037 mint038 mint039 mint040 mint041 Thanks for looking...

Pretty sure that she’s a 10 (DDH-10) head but finnleo can correct me if I’m wrong. ——— Where did you manage to get a beanbag chair like that? Or did you make it (or is it just a pillow? I’m sorry if I’m totally an idiot and it’s a pillow)? I’ve always liked beanbag chairs and whatnot. Hope the DDP body is working out for you alright. Heard the new f3 bodies can be decently floppy even with some people tightening it. I might want to get one myself one day but am wary bout the possible problems. Anywho though, great photoshoot and hello to Mint! Hope she had fun posing for you and that you were able to enjoy posing her too! ^^ Edited March 21, 2019 by Pickle
finnleo Posted February 1, 2019 Thank all very many. @Sinclair / Pickle. Yup, Mint is a DDH-10, and this is not a debut for her, but its been a full year since I last took photo's of her due to reasons. It took over a week's worth of procrastinating over things (the body, the stage, the background, lights, outfit, camera...) to get even this set together. Where did you manage to get a beanbag chair like that? Or did you make it (or is it just a pillow? I’m sorry if I’m totally an idiot and it’s a pillow)? Its a decorative pillow I found at the local cheap-mart for five or so euros, which I thought looked suitable in size. the other side is smooth, and the other has the radial stitching for a different effect. Its propped up a bit in some of the shots, and perhaps one could make a frame/stand for it so it could be a real chair like thing... On a tangent, the closest I have to a self made bean-pillow/chair is this, which I re-purposed from another pillow... (see the clothing/item section, "sliced pie pillow") maria076 sewing006 Glad you’re enjoying he f3 frame, it’s easier to pose ^^ Hope the DDP body is working out for you alright. Heard the new f3 bodies can be decently floppy even with some people tightening it. I might want to get one myself one day but am wary bout the possible problems. Well, I did voice my issues in the F3 body topic, and I still cant say that I am fully enjoying the body. The elbows are still really floppy to degree that makes me frustrated, and need a imporivsed solution since there are no screws to make them tighter, and the one legged stand was only possible due to the tight boot that disabled the ankle-pivot which is also still floppy. My theory is that the F3's are probably going to be more annoying to use with my tippy-toe poses: rise095 due to the floppy ankle-pivot, but for planted poses where the feet are fully grounded, it probably makes for easier work. I still think its silly that you have to dismantle the body when you get it, to adjust it more to your own liking in terms of posing... but, Iori came with this body, so I have to deal with it.. heh. It has potential, and you don't have to worry about cracking the shoulders and hips anymore, but even after some work it still needs more time and effort to get it to where Id really like it. Pickle Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Ah, yeah. After looking harder, I thought it might have been a pillow. Sorry for the confusion on my part but thank you so much for clearing that up for me! And that's a real nice "sliced pie pillow/cushion" you made. Looks pretty darn sturdy and cute. ^^ finnleo said: It has potential, and you don't have to worry about cracking the shoulders and hips anymore, but even after some work it still needs more time and effort to get it to where Id really like it. With how you describe the f3 body, in my opinion, it definitely doesn't seem worth getting. I've personally never had trouble with cracking so far (but I understand others have had cracking problems) and it would seem that it takes longer (and is more difficult) to pose from what you've stated which kind of defeats the purpose of the f3 claiming to be better at posing, etc. But, hopefully in the future Volks might make proper adjustments to it like they have for previous bodies in the past. One can only hope. Edited March 21, 2019 by Pickle

One can only hope. Well, to be fair the DDP-F3 is the first I ever managed to do the one legged pose -- period. so in that sense the rest of the body apart from my main irks has lots of potential that offset the issues. There isn't anything here yet that cant be fixed with a do it yourself mentality. Is it worth getting over a DD3?. For that you need to consider that the price difference for a new body from volks is 5000 yen, and if you add the rotating wrists and just to be safe reinforcement pieces for the hips and shoulders for a DD3 that difference is soon equaled. I just dont get why they went through the trouble of making the fancy pants joints for the hips and shoulders, and then botch up the elbows and ankle-pivots with zero friction, but these can be probably mended with tips and tricks that have been found over the years ... as a summa summarum I probably wouldn't have been as annoyed if the two bodies I now have would have come as assembly kits, so I could have sorted them out before getting disappointed with their initial performance -- but I am warming up to them. I see. I never waste money on the reinforcement metal pieces or upgrade the wrists so DD3 would be cheaper and def easier to work with in my case. Like I said, haven’t had problems with cracking for me. Also, I’m not really a crafty or do-it-yourself person so if something doesn’t work without you having to fiddle with it for hours etc, I won’t waste my time or money. Especially since it’s already expensive enough on its own without having to upgrade it further. *shrugs* But to each his own with what they are willing to do and/or buy. I agree that them upgrading the hips and shoulders but flubbing on the ankles and elbows seem to be a massive oversight on Volks’ part. Also agree that it probably would’ve been better if the bodies had come to you as an assembly kit. I guess if a person wanted a F3 body, it’d prob be best if they bought it in parts then huh? Well, regardless, I hope you can start enjoying yours more and learn more about them as you go along! Edited March 21, 2019 by Pickle

finnleo Posted March 27, 2019 thank you very many. The eye's are fortunately/unfortunately originally TwinSnow items, which is at the moment a defunct brand. the re-branding lizianna is apparently on hiatus at the moment also.

Kymera Posted April 21, 2019 I love your Mint! She's so expressive and photogenic! In the pic where she's standing on one foot... is she completely unsupported? How hard was it to balance her in that pose? Owned by: Kitsuko (Fox-face) - DDH-
finnleo Posted April 23, 2019 Thank you very many. Yes in the one legged pose she's fully unsupported, no photoshops, no monkey business. If it werent for the tight fitting boot it would be impossible due to the DDP-f3 ankle style where its floppy to side to side (the DDS-f3 ankle is a little different, and you can tighten it to counter this), but other than that, patience, and trying to figure out where the body wants to lean and counter balance it over a good 15-20 minute time I think it took ^^; as I already mentioned, its the one thing I will give the f3 body structure, that I was able to make that pose happen ... unfortunately the DDS-f3 body of Diana (saber mk2) that I have isn't as willing to co-operate as Iori's DDP-f3 (which mint is using here)
