cfx Posted March 24, 2019 That's what I've been doing too, but for some reason, "quote selection" doesn't always pop up for me when I do that. It seems like if I right-click on the text, it may then show up, though it may be obscured by the usual Windows pop-up menu I get then.
Monty Posted March 25, 2019 (edited) Regarding the marketplace: I really really like it compared to the previous forum’s one, and I just now noticed we can show prices in other currencies - something which would be extremely useful for me who has to constantly remind myself that any price in USD is actually nowhere near as cheap as it sounds (and also especially because he exchange rate fluctuates wildly from one week to the next and it’s tiring having to check it every single time I buy something). But trying this out, it doesn’t seem to work - it just changes all the prices to ‘no value specified’ instead - curiously for every item except an Angelphilia torso. I assumed it would just auto convert, so does this mean there’s a bug with it or does it depend on the person making the listing entering the price in a certain way? It seems weird to have the option to display the price converted into other currencies if it doesn’t actually do so - and it also would be unreasonable for the seller to have to manually enter multiple prices in different currencies to get them to display when exchange rates are not static. There is nothing special with the currency fields. They are just that, fields for each type of currency. It's up the the poster to put which they want to fill out. I -can- set it that all have to be filled out, but that seemed a little mean. An automatic conversion would be nice. I can suggest it to the creator of the mod. Usually selecting from right after that seems to work the best.

I've been clicking on "Unread Content" at the top, right under the banner image. I was thinking saving would change defaults on how that worked. What it actually does is create a new activity stream with the same name (or a different one if you change it) that is under "Activity --> My Activity Streams" at the top. You can make it the default one, but that probably still doesn't make it replace the one under the banner. I think the one under the banner is just a general (generic) undread content. Yeah, you'd have to use the custom streams maybe to do what you wanted. I haven't gotten to test that yet. I just made a custom stream, and set it to be my default stream. When I did that, that stream replaced the "unread content" one by the banner, so that's great and what I wanted. I hadn't really looked at all the stream options until now; it's really nice how you can select only certain forums and subforums to show up.

If you click that it will then put you in the editor with the text and quotes you selected intact. Okay, seems I found that. Hopefully I remember it next time. The ignore feature is kinda redundant when I can still see what those people do around the forum if I a) view the activity streams b) view the "recent posts" tab on the front page c) view someone's profile and the ignored person user shows up in that person's activity d) open a subforum and see a thread started by an ignored user (well, if I open the thread I can't see what they've written - unless I choose to do so - but yeah). For example on Den of Angels the ignore feature is pretty great and hides all content from ignored users, even threads started by those users. There's only a small link at the bottom of the page "show ignored content" that you can click and see the posts if you want to. But otherwise everything's just gone. Even if you search an ignored user's content, nothing shows up (unless you click that "show ignored content"). If it's the limitations of the software, it can't be helped, but... it does bother me a bit that I keep getting exposed to posts that I shouldn't be seeing. This is one of the reasons why I'm not a big fan of all the likes, reactions etc showing up in user profiles/activity streams, in addition to it making me feel uncomfortable because it's like your every move is being tracked down. Oh, and I have a small question related to the marketplace. I wonder if we could have a section to sell off-topic vinyl dolls, such as Azone's 48~50cm dolls and Pureneemo & Picconeemo? I have a hard time reaching buyers for my Azone stuff because there isn't an active dedicated forum for them (as far as I know) and I don't use Facebook. Since you can talk about Azone's dolls on this forum and there are people who like them and might be interested in buying those dolls/stuff for them... it could be useful to have a section for selling them? I've sold some of my bigger Azone dolls' clothing that also fits DDs on the old forum, so I guess those I could still sell in the Miscellaneous section, but I assume the dolls themselves and the smaller dolls' clothing wouldn't be accepted in that section? I asked in support about this. I'll let you know. As for "tracking" reactions, the site has to record these things to function. The only thing is that it shows them in more than one location, IE posts and the profile. I'm not really sure why you are okay with it showing in a post but not your activity stream. Both are public and nothing is being done to the information outside of this site as per the privacy policy you agreed to. Also, ignoring users and having reactions in profile streams are two different things, so I'm not sure I understand the similarity. You can hide your profile from everyone if you rather your activity not be shown in one location. You could also not use the reaction system at all. But everything you do is public either way. It is a public forum. If someone wanted to "track" you they could easily search for your activity via the site's search function with your username. Just because it shows it listed on your profile page doesn't mean it's somehow hidden everywhere else. It's all public. But again, this is why I added the function to hide your profile. It still doesn't mean people can't find your activity via other means, though. If your privacy is that important, you shouldn't be using a public forum. >< I can only give you so many ways to hide your activity, but at the end of the day it is all recorded and it is accessible to people that want to find it. 14 hours ago, mizya said: Oh, and I have a small question related to the marketplace. You're correct. Currently the marketplace is for on-topic dolls and usable items only. EDIT: I got a reply about ignored users showing in those locations you listed. This is how the site functions. It only hides the content of what they post, not their activity. Which in some cases makes sense for threads they start as you only ignored them and not the people that may reply to them. So hiding the whole thread would be sort of odd in that case.

Well, I do understand that the site will record everything regardless, but I would appreciate having the choice to choose which parts of a user's activity is shown publicly (in the profile and in the activity stream). I did hide my profile from non-members right away after that option became possible, but even though my profile is hidden, non-members can still see everything that all the members on this forum do through the activity streams. That's my biggest issue: all this information is being shown to random people who might stumble upon the forum. But I guess even if some parts of the forum were hidden from non-members, the activity stream would still be accessible for non-members? I can deal with members of the forum having access to the information, but random people are what worry me. Maybe it's because in the past the Finnish BJD forum that I was a member of was public, and then some random dudes stumbled upon it and thought it would be fun to shame doll owners on their website, so they reposted photos and other content on their site to make fun of it... which wasn't all that nice, so most of the forum's boards were hidden from non-members as a result to protect the users of the forum. On one hand I get the appeal of having a public forum so that new people who are interested in dolls can access the information, but then on the other hand there are also these cases when the wrong people stumble upon that information. I'm not the only one who felt uncomfortable about the activity being recorded, so that's why I've been persistent about it. If it was just me, I would've kept quiet about it, but I've seen others voice the same concerns, so... I just hope there was something more that we could do than just hide our profiles, because that doesn't really solve the problem. cfx Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) I found a little bug: On any doll's page in the directory, the activity stream link that's by "Mark site read" is located at both the top of the page under the banner, and at the bottom. The one at the bottom isn't clickable like it is on other pages. Example page: https://www.dolldreaming.com/dolldirectory/item/211-aoife/ This is with a custom stream, but I would imagine it's the same way with the default unread link. Edit: I share @mizya's concerns as someone who is a private person and sort of paranoid about social media and the internet in general. Averis Posted March 27, 2019 Sorry, guys, far as I can tell there is no way to turn off the activity in user profiles or hide it from the general public by default. I checked all over the backend and even searched for more plugins. I made the suggestion to the creator of the hide profile plugin to add such a feature. So here's hoping that can happen. I'm not saying it's ideal. I would love more options to give you guys the options you'd like. I just have to work with what I have for now. 1 hour ago, cfx said: I found a little bug: On any doll's page in the directory, the activity stream link that's by "Mark site read" is located at both the top of the page under the banner, and at the bottom. The stream one I don't seem to be able to click at all, but perhaps it's because I named my custom stream just "cfx" so it's a short name and thsu a smaller total area. I didn't want to delete that to try the default link again. Anyway there's something going on since it's fine on other pages and fine on the top one everywhere. Averis Posted March 28, 2019 I did some digging and actually managed to find how to hide all profiles and activity streams from guests (non-logged-in folks)! It was not very obvious. >< So there you go! I believe that should do it. Let me know if this is what you were asking for or if I missed something. This was certainly a situation where I'm still learning how to use this software. 1

foo Posted April 13, 2019 Maybe I'm just tired, but I'm finding the gradient rows on the index pages visually confusing (。•́︿•̀。) When I'm scanning post titles it feels like there's too much focusing to do, especially since the right half doesn't match the tint of the left half, and unread posts have an opposite gradient. It's confusing 😕
