What are you guys talking about? Valentine's Day is a day of appreciation for the great Mayan and Aztec gift of chocolate. It has nothing to do with boyfriends.

. . . I thought the boyfriends were supposed to sacrifice chocolate to their girlfriends to avoid being sacrificed to the gods instead?

Eliminating the boyfriends and getting the chocolate half price on the 15th is the only way to guarantee you get what you want. That or sacrificing boyfriends to the choco-kami might work.

I thought I'd have a boyfriend this Valentine's Day but we broke up a few months ago. That's cool though, I'll by myself some chocolate!

I am not against guys. They are very nice. I will give my guy friends chocolate. I appreciate them very much. In Japan, Valentine's Day is for giving chocolate to guys you like or are your friends. Then they are supposed to give you something March 14th for White Day.

Being lavished in gifts and attention on Valentine's Day would be nice. But that is something I've NEVER been lucky enough to receive and more than likely never will. :-/

 

I'm very anti-Valentine's Day, it's kinda something that just happens when you are 26 and never ever having a boyfriend. Also working in retail doesn't help either. I just get sick of looking at the stuff. To me it's just another blah day of being all alone and it just so happens the fact I have no one at all gets rubbed in my face more that day. It has been that way for me every year and this year is no exception. I have a feeling that every year to come will be the same old lonely story for me. It's just a very depressing holiday for me.

 

Anyway sorry to be all negative and depressing in the V-day thread. I hope that everyone else has a wonderful Valentine's Day! It looks like everyone's girls got some wonderful gifts. ^_^

I've worked in Retail myself for 18 years and know what you feel with it being in your face all the time.

 

Valentine's Day is no different day to me here in the UK and since it is forced fed to everyone just as the X-Mas decs come off display, and this is currently running side by side with easter, it no wonder people get fed up with events like this.

 

Yep I'm also some what Anti-Valentine's Day, but have taken part in the gift side of the event here for my girls just for some fun.

Has everyone got their gifts yet, as it still seems that gifts are taking longer to show up even with allowing a 2 week window to be delivered

I know you are in the future compared to the U.S., Traveller, but I was to to wish you a happy day anyway. I think you are a great guy. Not as great as Baldylox but pretty close. I am teasing.

I am now ( so much) older and I would like to tell you it will change, but as I know exactly how I feeled when people told me before , I just would say : try to have a happy day, eat chocolate and pancakes.

Here there is a special day in february called chandeleur and everybody eat pancakes, and so at each valentine's day, I wanted to do just like it was chandeleur in place and eated pancakes!

 

BTW not a really happy day for me. My " boyfriend" has just...forgotten!!!

But honestly my grandfather passed away last year this day, so well...

 

But reading this thread really makes me feel a bit happy this morning. It is cool to read some people think like you and others ideas to enjoy the day and so funny things ( lolll poofemius and mitsuki!) ! I will stay in the japanese side of the day and eats chocolate

And I want to thank everybody here because you make me feel happy, and wish a great day full of happiness to everyone!

 

I really like Valentine's Day, with or without a special someone to share it with. When I didn't have someone special, I gave gifts and cards to my family and friends. Now that I'm married, I still leave small gifts and notes for my family and friends to remind them that they're loved. ♥ I put My Little Pony valentines on all of my coworkers' desks this morning and handed out chocolate macarons, tee hee hee~ I don't like the commercial aspects (in fact, I will not go out to dinner on Valentine's Day--the hype with reservations and crowds and overpriced meals bothers me), but I've tried to embrace it as a yearly chance to remind the people that you love how much they mean to you! n_n Sometimes it's too easy to forget~

 

That's one of the reasons I was excited for this swap--I wanted to make someone's day a little brighter when a gift or cards arrived with their dolls' names on it! Valentine's Day gets a bad reputation with the commercialization, but it doesn't have to be that way if you don't like it that way.

Today, finally Valentines here in Brazil. Beato was so excited to open her Box!

 

it is a pitty now she is mad at me. Looks like that box did not contained her Valentines surprise... I totally had forgotten that there was another package coming to the house....

 

For now, I will let her voice all of her Beatriceness. I am sure that soon she will realize that this means that in the end she will have double presents!
