I really like the Nier dolls myself, but I've only played a small part of the games (don't ask me about my backlog >_>) My sister is HUGE Nier fan and she doesn't think either doll looks much like the characters. Despite them being her little blorbos, and her owning a few resin BJDs, she's not interested in owning either doll.
PlasticJester Posted March 22 I have watched very little Ranma (I'm a biiit too young for it) I do think the dolls are cute! I have a consistent problem with SD collabs feeling like dolls cosplaying the characters rather than the characters themselves though. It's why I'm glad I'm not into hunting down the super-expensive Rozen Maiden dolls, I'd rather make my own manga-styled ones.
Roserolls Posted March 23 The new standard models look really good! I didn't immediately like them at first like I did with the SDMs, but I've warmed up a lot to Ena and Honoka! They definitely give off vibes of previous popular limited models like Sapphire and Yumepi/Macha, which is great! I still haven't come around to Maki though, I think the eyes they gave her look kind of beady... On a side note, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice when it comes to my Lucia on a SD13 body. I've been having problems with her body for quite awhile, and even after restringing it, I still find it very clunky and annoying to deal with when posing so I was looking for an alternate body for her. I was originally looking for other brands that have skintone matches for Volks, but I didn't find any I liked for the price point (except Sprouting Dragon's 1/3 girl body, but I worry that the normal yellow skintone is still too light). I tried looking for an SDGr body instead so I'd know the skin would definitely match and I'd like the design, and I ended up finding a fullset version of the Lucia that I currently own for not much more than just the SDGr body alone. I really like Lucia's fullset, but I'd feel bad about buying that one and then having to sell my current Lucia to make space. What do you guys think? Would you buy a fullset of a doll that you love but already partially own?
SaraCherie Posted Friday at 08:28 PM (edited) Honoka arrived yesterday. Processing/shipping was fast and no issues in transit. Re: the clunkiness, if SD10s are just smaller SD13s I can definitely get that. She's not as smooth to pose as my DDs or Mystic Kids girl, but I ordered her for her sculpt so I can deal with that, I suppose. She did come with kips installed in her arm joints, but not her legs for some reason. Getting the new knee joint to work has been a struggle, but given I haven't properly held a resin doll in years that might be a me issue. Here's some photos of her blank incase anyone's interested. Nothing wrong with her OG faceup quality-wise, it's fantastic, I just like painting my dolls. Spoiler The number inside her head is 244, which I'm assuming is her sculpt number. She's very beautiful and I have no regrets. Edited Friday at 08:29 PM by SaraCherie
