Volks Super Dollfies

Spoiler for nudity but I'm waiting on this precious Nono! Sadly she won't be here for a while as seamail was the only affordable option (DHL wanted $200 😬)

I only have one Super Dollfie. I have a Minifee Mio, she’s 1/4 scale and poses wonderfully. She’s no Dollfie of course. I bought two 1/6 scale dolls that were fakes and flipped my lid, so I bought a legitimate Airi, the schoolgirl vampire. I was gullible. She cost more than both of the fakes, but I feel horrible letting them get away with undeserved money. My Minifee is legit for sure. I bought Mio and later on I pre-ordered Vanilla and Chocola Anifees. Resin head sculpts, vinyl bodies. Kinda frustrating the sculpts are resin, but oh well they’re still gorgeous. Speaking of gorgeous, my Super Dollfie.

I didn’t win Rapunzel. I was upset. I missed out on Emilia Ram and Rem. 

And so.... as of a week or so ago, I own them all (Emilia was the last). I was able to get Rapunzel with a thrashed box but she was totally fine, for 135,000 yen. I got Rem and Ram on Mandarake as well. Emilia was purchased from an amazing member on this forum. (Whom I’ll feel forever indebted to).
 

Rapunzel’s unused and unopened. But looking at the wig it’s freaking HUGE. I haven’t even taken the time to put her together since I’ve been so busy, but her faceup is absolutely gorgeous.

Dandy Bell was really temping, but I didn't enter because I'd already bought Sailor Jupiter.

It's tempting, I remember seeing a lady Cain at Dolpa LA 2017 that was just amazing! But I'm sworn off white skin for now, I just don't like super-bright skin tones that much. Think I'll save my dollars and try for Dollfie Icon instead, or maybe FCS SD16 in Ebony (I forget the new name for that skintone!)

Cyndy looks nice, too, but I totally dislike these tiny dolls with their weird proportions. '-' (I know there is a normal-sozed version of her, too, but she is kinda old and also doesn't look as refined as the newer ones. Hopefully she will get a reboot someday)

Is that the Yo-Midi Cyndy? You can put her head on a SDMidi body and it'll look much more natural! I've considered getting the Yo-Midi Williams and sticking him on the Midi body. I see them for sale a lot 2nd hand, I don't think they were popular at all because of their bobble-headedness. 

(I have two Yo-Midis and they're... really weird, but I enjoy them as they are since they're the Devilman BJDs that look like the art from CB Chara Go Nagai World. I've threatened to upgrade bodies a lot, but Akira has such cute little claw hands and feet that I can't do it.)

Did both lotteries and got each. So I got all the dolls. I’m also bidding on the yj auction right now that is 5.2M yen (with tax). Prototype version. Yes pls. I’m debating on the prototype version of the boy but they’re just not my favorite. And he’s at almost 1M yen too. It’s just too much money to spend in just a month blah. 
 

The lotteries were also expensive, so I didn’t really want to put down $3000 but I couldn’t help myself. I don’t much like the boys, but I do like limited auctions. I have a museum of dolls in my basement. I’d like to add him to it. Speaking of a resin doll, I just bought a Limited doll from Luts today. Totally outbid the blue purchase. No idea why. Except full set LE, limited faceup too, free unpainted event head sculpt (if you spend over $250 I think)  That is kind of exciting too. I bought a few DWC heads and now this one. I’ve got my work cut out for me haha. 
 

She’s super cute. I feel that because I was ripped off in the past on the aftermarket, and bought a *recast* TWO of them, I felt like I owed it to Luts to give them money too. I was ripped off by a scam seller. Legit photos but the received doll was recasted. That means Luts was ripped off too. I’d give them the value of the dolls as a donation because I feel so remorseful, but I can’t really afford that. So I bought the limited version Irus—last one! Ahah!

I know she isn’t a Super Dollfie, so feel free to either move or delete this post, mods, I just wanted to share a like-doll, and the sad story that comes with her.

But yeah she comes with that full set! Outfit wig shoes eyes faceup (there’s another Irus faceup that’s different. This is the limited version). And it seems I got the last one. Updates aren’t mentioning Irus anymore. Heh. 
 

Don’t worry, I’ll post it in the off-topic dolls when she arrives. Months from now lmao. I haven’t had a chance to take pictures of my SDgr Shinku Or Suiseiseki. Rozen Maiden is why I originally started with BJDs. No I wasn’t lucky enough to get her for her 104,000 yen price but I did get her brand new unopened and unused, that was stored in a basement (in a non-humid area) since Dolpa 2005. Idk what that person was thinking and they didn’t either. Lol. So she sold it to me for a reasonable price. Same with Suiseiseki. Most of my SDs are rather old. 
 

Tbh I’m kind of excited for these lotto SDs. Mwah my luck 💋 I got Rem Ram and Emilia, Shinku, Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, and won both lotteries. I’ve always considered myself lucky, but this blew me away. 
 

Here’s hoping someone else won too. I’d hate to be the only one. I’d feel bad lmao.

Not sure what you mean with not even one, tho, as I have just entered for Cain. I don't really like the rest of them. I suppose chances were a lot lower for Best selection (not even talking about the one-offs if I look at the thousands of entries xD) than in the usual lotteries, so I'm not surprised there are not many winners. I have also heard SD lotteries are tougher than the DD ones in general. I'm not so much into SDs and really wanted a nice boy for my Victorique but probably next time.... '3'

I misunderstood. I read you saying you failed two lotteries, but I guess I read it wrong.
 

I got Reisner the Scarface and Cyndy (Sakura too, but she’s DD). I don’t normally like boys, and I almost tried for Cain too, but just don’t like the SDgr boys. Reisner just looks simply badass. Almost did Williams, but with how much money I’m going to be spending this month, I don’t get to buy anything else for the rest of the year. Especially if I win that auction. The lotteries I won were the best selection. Best Selection Yo-Midi girl Cyndy, and Best Selection SD17 Reisner the Scarface. Pretty happy about that. I decided not to bother with the one off lotteries (except one). I’m going to win that damn Loreley ~whispering dusk~ prototype. I guess that means one off? Idk. It’s not a lottery but an auction on yja. Either way, I need her. I play the harp too. She will be my crown jewel to my collection. My Go board and stones are more valuable, but as much as I love that game, I love Dollfies way more. 
 

And thank you so much. I’m sorry you didn’t get Cain. If I chose him instead of Reisner I would’ve just sold it to you when he arrives (kinda why I’m glad I didn’t enter... didn’t like him as much as SD17 Reisner).

Wait, why would you enter lotteries for dolls you "don't really even like"? That takes away a chance for someone who actually really wanted to win the item. I don't get it? That seems counter-productive and a little rude, considering these dolls cost so much and if you win it keeps people who really wanted them from getting them 😟

What do you even mean? I just said I don’t normally like boys. But if you read my post you’ll see how many times I say he looks badass.

It is my money, my collection, and I am the one who decides what I pay to add to that collection. I entered that lottery because I wanted to. Who would spend that much money on something they don’t want?

Please don’t make assumptions and call a person you don’t even know rude. You’re calling ME rude? I’m keeping my dolls. I’m no scalper. Talk to them about it, not me. I’m not reselling. I even said I didn’t enter certain ones because I specifically didn’t like them. Isn’t my fault if you entered the lottery and lost. I’ve lost some before too

So I ask again. What EXACTLY is the problem with me getting luckier than you in the lottery and buying the doll by choice with my money? If you did enter and lose, you’ll have read that I’ve already apologized to a few who didn’t win.

He won’t be in my top 10 favorites, but do you realize how many people have well over 10? That’ll make 19 resin dolls in addition to my vinyl dolls for me, I believe about. I’ve got a lot and I love them all. Plus, I’ve already decided to pair him with another doll. They look like a couple. He’ll be in my museum in my basement where I have my dolls in humidity controlled cases, labeled when I got them, what I paid, and who from (Volks, Mandarake, secondhand).
 
I didn’t do anything wring and don’t appreciate the accusations. Keep negative opinions to yourself. No need to start drama when there was none to begin with.

No need to reply. The only reason I’m humoring your response is so others don’t listen to what you said and make false assumptions based on a false assumption. So let’s stop the drama and move on with the thread; this isn’t the place for that. PM me next time so you don’t make a public issue of it. Now if anything is rude, that is.

I was jealous of every Emilia until just recently when I finally acquired her. You didn’t see me putting people down for owning them or even redoing the faceup on a limited doll. I’ve seen Emilia’s who had an ear torn off, and I’ve seen her outfit yellow from cigarette smoke. Imo that’s destruction of a piece of art.

I COLLECT dolls, resin long before DDs. If I see one I like, even if it’s a boy doll, I’m *going* to buy it. I buy what I want and can afford. It’s a lottery. They don’t pick winners based on what rank that doll will be on your list of favorites. Just because someone may consider him a grail dolll, he’s already part of my family. I’m attached to all my dolls.

And it does seem like the numbers are extremely low. None of my friends won either. 
 

(and yeah that’s one of the dolls I won. Chibi Cyndy and then the SD17 Reisner). Kinda wish she was normal sized but I’m not complaining)

I think I read about a guy on DoA who won like four lotteries? Something crazy. Cain and Reisner too. Some really cool dolls. Quite lucky. Haha. Heavy hit to the bank though 😂

I love Volks dolls, but the concept of participating in a lottery is definitely intimidating because I tend to have poor luck. Thankfully the girl I have my eye on is one of the standard model SDMs, so buying her shouldn't be any trouble once I've finally saved up for her. 

I’m glad Nico is my favorite SD sculpt! I have 2 and sometime over the next year and a half I aim to put them both on SDGr bodies. 

I have 8 Super Dollfies, ranging from YoSD to SD16.  I was really excited about the Boyhood version of Williams announced for the upcoming Dolpa, but he won't be sold online and it made me sad for like 2 days.  I really really hope that Volks USA will be able to get some of him so that I can still try...!!
My ultimate grail Super Dollfie is Chii.  I know the DDH-01 is the same sculpt, but my brain won't let me get one to slap Chii ears on and be satisfied, lol.

I was similarly gutted about Boyhood Cecile, he’s everything I like in a resin sculpt and the delay in info (since they included nothing about release methods in Volks News) feels like they dangled this beautiful doll in my face and then said ‘lol sorry not for you though.’ I have uh...complex feelings about them being a Dolpa limited doll for a Dolpa that really should not be going ahead. I think it’s very irresponsible of them to use them as an enticement when people shouldn’t be attending any large events at all - Japan currently has more cases than back when things were actually closed and cancelled. Much of JP doll Twitter are also reluctant to travel for this. I’m more annoyed/upset at that than I am about not being able to have Cecile. If there was no pandemic and they were just a Dolpa-only release like Tyltyl’s rerelease before, I’d still be frustrated (wh-why does this happen with the only big SDs I want, Volks?) and begrudgingly accept it, but the precise circumstances of it this time is honestly one of the few things that have actually made me kinda mad at them.

That said...the website for Dolpa is covered in disclaimers about how it may or may not go ahead and the sale of the tickets has been delayed, and with now only a month to go they’re probably going to reveal whether it’s cancelled or not very soon. If it does become another online Dolpa, maybe Cecile and Williams will be lottery, but it’s hard to get excited about that possibility when I consider that they likely only intend a very small run of them if they were supposed to be Dolpa only for a Dolpa with a capped attendance.

....at least I save money? I just hope the preorder project and December dolls make up for it.

+1 to the sad about Boyhood Cecile pile. I've enjoyed Cecile as a sculpt since he was first introduced, and the SD17 version almost got me. And then Boyhood Cecile? Absolutely got me. I'm with Monty, I get the feeling that if they were only to be sold at that particular Dolpa and never go to an after event, there's probably not too many of them in the first place T_T.

I really do hope they decide to call off Dolpa. It's super unsafe to hold a convention like that right now, and the fact that Boyhood Cecile and Williams are Dolpa limited is really worrying. I've been in the hobby long enough to know that people will go to extreme and unsafe lengths to get dolls and the fact that they're event limited feels pretty cruel given the current situation. "Volks releases non-one off dolls only available at a specific Dolpa with no after-event and next to no precedent in the middle of a pandemic" was certainly not something that I had on my 2020 bingo list, lol.

Hello! Wanted to join the SD thread as I currently have 4 - SD Megu, Yosd Kira, SDM F-48, and a DearSD Megu. As you can tell my favorite sculpt is the F-01 😄! I'm hoping to add a SDM F-33 to the resin family some day.

Ah, a woman of fine taste - I too have an SD Megu and a DearSD Megu (and a YoSD SwD Sara!).  Aren't they so cute?  I really want the SDM version of her too, but she's kinda pricey.  But then I'd have the Four Sisters in four different sizes!!

Who else is excited now that William and Cecile are being sold online?!  They say preorder but let's be real, it'll turn into a lottery.  Good luck everyone trying for a pretty boi!!
