I appreciate the info about posing, it's always a big one of me!

 

Kiwi is a decent poser, but I get frustrated that her thigh joint has no way to truly stay in place, so I can't curl her up like I'd like.Her jointing on her knees is also frustrating, I have yet to attempt to kip or suede her to fix my gripes.I do love that she isn't to top heavy-so she stands like a champ!

Bonus points that they actually offer them in all their skin tones too. Always a big peeve of mine when a company offers darker tones on all their dolls except their anime sculpts for some reason lol. I'd really like to get one in their tan eventually.

Im really excited about the new MyouDolls, only thing is, I hate their weird nose... if i got one i would have to sand it for sure

They've got that Puki Pong Pong/Tiny Delf Simba open-mouth thing going on that I more associate with shonen anime protagonists.

@HazelMaze, what resin color is your 2D girl and do you have any DD vinyl to compare to? I was looking at getting a MDD, but I want to use a different anime head. Kiwi is the exact sculpt I was interested in!

I can't take new photos, as I have since sold my Kiwi, but I do have a few shots of her with other dolls. 

I purchased her in 'normal pink"

As a warning, 2D doll 1/4th sculpts have a MUCH smaller head circumference than standard MDD's. It was part of the reason why I sold off my Kiwi! She is beautiful on her own, I've also now got a huge preference for how vinyl handles.

You  can see below Kiwi with a semi-white girl. ( DDH09- Her name is Bev)

Bev has definately aged a bit and is a slightly more yellow tone, though her bust is basically new and doesn't have any tinting. I found(and hopefully you can see somewhat) that 2D doll runs more towards a yellowish hue

The second 2 photos were never meant to see the light of the internet, but I thought you would find them helpful. The doll Kiwi is compared to here is a DDH-01 head in Normal, standard MDD body.

Kiwi was a very dainty doll

@HazelMaze, that is super helpful, thank you! I’m disappointed the head is so small, but maybe the head would be cute on a TinyFox body, maybe. I don’t know, but at least the 2D body is cute!

They definately might!

I think in general 2D may not have a good color match for DD in their tones, but I did find the "Normal Yellow" color a good match for Azone/Obitsu "Semi-White"( The exact terminology is escaping me right now).I have one of the semi-real looking heads in 1/3 scale if you are interested in seeing neck size comparisons(Which can vary from head to head of course!).

I will also say that their faceup work is *chefs kiss*. I had a request for more pink to be added to my 1/3 heads face up, and despite my dealer telling me they would not do any special requests...they totally did! Plus I think Kiwi's face up speaks for itself.

I personally found the hands and feet to lean towards a mature look. Very pretty hands, lovely sculpting. Now something I was a tad fooled by was that their knees are /not/  double jointed. I mistook the joint to be so, but the bean is to small to comfortably pull off anything but a basic kneel.There is also no grooving to control that mid-thigh joint.So you can swivel, but not really bend out or backwards.

While my 1/3 head arrived in quick order, alas, Kiwi took double the amount of time I was expecting T_T In the grand scheme she was relatively quick (I think 8 monthes total with shipping). Be wary of purchasing a "fullset".My dealer was offering the fullset but we had to arrange a whole new outfit to compensate as the fullset was no longer available.It was a bit of a schism but was handled well ( Not to shill but I adore the dealer Clover Singing for helping, they are really great communicators).If you have any body/ head question let me know!

As a doll head alternative-you may really like Dr.Mes aka DollPamm's dolls! They have the "Moe Line" and the heads are available year round! I have been...SO TEMPTED by their work. They are adorable! http://dollpamm.net/shop/step_submain.php?b_code=B20181030105450.

@HazelMaze, yes, I would like to see the comparison! I’m not a bit fan of how Obitsu torsos look, but if I could get a spare Azone body, they are very nice. Plus, I super have a 50cm girl in whitey that I could use for color reference and an Azone body for size reference on my end as well, so I could get a good idea of actual sizes. Bonus if you have the ever-popular Almond. >_> I want him so much, but I keep getting distracted by limited heads from all over.

But yes, I will be wary of fullsets. I might just do a heads order after all. I thought I was ok with bad posers, but I got one a while back that was terrible at posing, but pretty, and it turns out it still bugs me.

I hadn't considered anime dolls in resin but damn they do look pretty! @HazelMaze Your girls look beautiful!

 

Update: Ramcube made an anime-style head for sd17/65cm bjd and it's pretty.

I'm super tempted but I'm really trying not to get any more resin dolls over 60cm...I wonder if he'd fit on a Vindoll?

I saw that too and am thinking of getting one though I can’t decide which faceup I like better!

He’ll probably look quite bobbleheaded on a Vindoll since his listing on Ramcube lists his head size as 8-9 inches, while Vindoll heads are 20cm (which is around 7.8 inches).

Doll Family-H has chubby anime 1/4 and 1/6 dolls, they're very cute!
I got a 1/4 girl Ryo recently (made her my avatar). 
She poses nicely and has such a cute chunky body, I love her. :3

DFH sells a few different heads, and you can get the bodies separately. There's also a variety of extra hand options.

The DF-H chubby 1/4 sculpts are really cute! I've always been fond of DF-H; love seeing them branch out into other styles that are just as charming as their semi-realistic(???) guys and girls, for lack of a better word. I miiiiight need a Pai Si at some point. Especially if the body is indeed a good poser! Part of what pushed me to try vinyl was how much easier it is to pose vinyl bodies without resorting to wiring them or burning my fingerprints off with hot glue.

I do have a Xagadolls Ximilu showing up probably at some point during the summer. Her smirk won me over, and those dumb heart kneecaps are so charming to me. I love the chubby aesthetic and it's so cool to see more companies A) jumping on that bandwagon so clothes are getting easier to find, and B) trying less baby-ish face sculpts. Thick dolls! Thick anime dolls! Aaa! :V

For me, it's Victorique de Blois from Gosick.  I liked the anime, I love the character, and the doll is simply perfect.  My pictures never seem to do her justice though...

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet but FenJieXien (Dividing Line) has REALLY cute anime-styled yo-sds! They're super cute and really, really affordable, I love mine, but she still needs to get eyes and a faceup... getting anime eyes in 14mm-16mm has been a bit more... difficult than originally anticipated. ^^; I am considering on getting more of the Dividing Line dolls, I definitely recommend them... their measurements are a little odd though, they kind of have a yosd top and slim msd bottoms I think? Their hips are about the size of my minifees.

Thanks for posting this! I’ve been interested in anime-style YoSDs but not sold on any of the ones I’ve seen. Apparently they come in blind boxes? which I’m not crazy about, and having to get a faceup is a bit of a pain, but I’d love to hear more about them. Do they have a Taobao shop?

I believe they have a taobao shop, but I am not sure of the exact URL ^^; It's hard for me to navigate taobao so usually I just use proxies anyways. But, I know Cloversinging and MyDollection carry them!

I have a Xaga Birthday Cake head on their 1/4th heart joints body. She's so cute but strung really tight so I'm learning how to pose her still.

ACBJD has a discontinuation event for Dikadoll up that includes a few anime sculpts - you can get the heads separately as well.

I'm tempted by Winter Solstice especially as I've always had a soft spot for them.

I thought of dressing up my SD in anime style but is that frowned upon? SD Miku would look really interesting though. I'll have a look and see what will fit her.
