DD Family Trees: Nice & Tidy or just a Total Mess?

Trying to fill out Tama's profile for my family and simply trying to sort through the "Friends & Family" section... and realizing it is as straight forward as trying to untangle a ball of Christmas tree lights. 😂 I feel like I have to post a long explanation to even sort out everyone, a task I have never quite posted before. Convoluted is the best word to describe it.

Does anyone else with a larger family have this issue or is everyone's relations to one another pretty straight forward?

Should I even attempt to explain my family? 🤣

That is quite the question, one I have never thought about.  My girls are all sisters in the end, but how is a mystery, even for me.  I guess I should sit down and ponder that myself. 

 

As for your kiddos, give a Readers' Digest version if possible?

Reader's Digest version? What does that mean? I haven't read Reader's Digest in decades. 😁 Do you man something detailed but short and not my normal overly long-winded self? 🤣

I don’t have that problem luckily as there are friends and girlfriends, but they’re all stepsisters of my friend Yosora and some of them already changed homes from there.

 

I know I would like to see balldylox's extended family tree. 🤣  But, yeah, one of your family's would be good.  I'd love to know how each of them is related to one another, especially with the advent of your newer family members.  Mine is pretty straightforward, they all live in my "dorm."

Is there a character limit for that field...? If so, you might need to sum up each relationship in a short sentence, and expand on the most important ones in the Story or Personality sections.

I don’t have enough dolls for this to become a problem yet but for the people that do, I think the main issue is that it doesn’t insert paragraph breaks even when you put them there in editing (unless this got fixed now?)

I haven't yet tried to add anyone to my list yet so I'm not sure how things will go.  But as far as relations go between girls here, it's all over the place because not everyone is actually related to each other.  I do have several smaller groups that are due to either being adopted from the same person over the years or because they share the same head type, etc.  But not all these groups are actually related. So it's kind of a hodge podge here..... more like an apartment complex but without separate rooms.  LOL

I sat down and wrote it out... mostly. 😅 There are still some parts that are not pointed out as being weird or not fitting well because it can be explained within stories. Some of the distinct sexual orientation is clearly stated (Tama & Lucas are boyfriends) but gets a bit muddled by saying that Yuriko & Dakota are girlfriends when Dakota in fact is Bi, occasionally making jokes that her old boyfriend was a 'real bear'. (One of her oversized sweaters came form a bear plushie is how that joke got started, but no, she doesn't date other species.) 😁 I know this is probably TMI but it's just the way our family story goes. After the explanation I did write turned out to be 5 pages in Google Docs, I really didn't want to add in all that stuff too. However I did make mention of the weirdness of Ralph & Ellie's relationship, how they are adopted, but not blood related siblings. It still kinda makes my head hurt. I also didn't add the friendship connections because that at least can be explained in the Doll Directory bios without much fuss.

I posted the written family tree explanation in my Badger Pocket Tales blog here on the site. (YIPEE!!! I'm the first one! 😍) Still trying to sort out the coherent way of posting the Kiddo's stories there since they bounce all over the timeline now and between worlds. BUT I'm so thrilled that I have somewhere to dump all the written stories and finally fill in the missing stories of our family and how everyone got here. I'm so delighted that I can also post the chapters that came after the story I posted in the stories section of the old site and the slight rewrite that chapter has had. Their adventures in my fantasy world have been continuing but they were causing me a huge problem of spilling out into the main story line I was trying to do. So being able to section off all of their stuff here, where people who know them can appreciate them is a massive relief. Plus I can share all of their sillyness with you guys since the photo stories are pretty much a thing of the past for me anymore. 😭 Even if my mobility is affected I can at least still write until the cows come home. Plus it's good writing practice. I'm really happy that such a simple thing will allow me to feel like a part of the community again.

I was too lazy for most of them to mess with the friends and family field--mostly mentioned significant others when applicable. Part of it is that none of my dolls' characters are biologically related, and another part is that Fate and Agatha in particular have plenty of reason to not want to discuss their source material/canon/biological family members. Especially the moms. They basically have their own "my mom is psycho" club lol.

Most of my girls are friends / girlfriends.

A few of them are twins (I have got 2 Beatrice, one with custom make up), and others are just sisters (both in-character, such as Beatrice and Maria Ushiromiya, and out-of-character).

It would be nice to read your family tree because you have a very creative mind so I think it would be interesting. I'm very simple, I give my dolls their names and sometimes I think about their relationship with each other but that's it. So far I have two siblings, 2 couples are dating and they are all friends with each other. My dolls are a big happy family 😛 I only wrote the story of my 3 first DDs, 2 are orphans who grew up together in the residence and they met the other one who ran away from home. They all 3 found refuge and comfort in each other and have the strongest bond in the group, the rest all met in HS or College ( I really should give them a story too, maybe one day I will).
