DistortedDiva Posted March 21, 2019 I've used msc years ago, but it is nearly impossible to import into my country. Locally I can buy Purity Seal, but that quickly turns sticky, no matter how I apply it. So my question is, what sealants do you use for faceups?
Elys Posted March 22, 2019 (edited) Yeah I feel you, one hobby store has MSC where I live, and very rarely.. I feel like ordering it in bulk might be best, even if it takes a long time to arrive. Have you checked any and all miniature, roleplaying and craft stores? Maybe you can reach out to one of them to import it. Other than that I think Zoukei-mura works on vinyl dolls but that would probably be as hard to get. Hope you find some way, maybe another local hobbyist would be interested in doing a bigger order to save on shipping. jaderose Posted March 22, 2019 I tried the aerosol version of Liquitex's matte varnish - and oh my goodness gracious, it is STICKY! It is really humid here, but I sprayed it on dry days and there was no change. Would not recommend that one! Testors Spray Lacquer is great, though. (I know it's clear coat, and not the enamel type - the specs are posted more lucidly in a pinned DoA customization thread.) I found it at a hobby shop, and, although I haven't tested it on DDs yet, it worked beautifully on my vinyl Monster High heads. It hasn't reacted badly to the humidity - I sprayed it in the rain and it didn't fog up or get sticky. Another user on the old version of the forum told me that making sure humidity is below 40% before you spray can help prevent stickiness, but I just switched to Testors, haha. The post above this signature was probably TLDR, and I am very sorry.

Where I live that means you could never spray!

jazijaz Posted March 22, 2019 Unfortunately, I use only MSC. I say unfortunately because it is toxic and I can't use masks (I feel claustrophobic, I can't breathe even with the disposable/surgical masks) but it's the one that has worked the best for me. I have tried many others, even the one from Volks and none of them worked for me. I tried the non-toxic ones and it's just not the same. So MSC it is for me. However, I think your best bet would be going with the Volks spray, it is not as good as MSC , you have to be more careful with the humidity but if I couldn't use MSC I would go for this one: https://volksusastore.com/webstores/dollfie/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=
