Florida here, Just got back from japan with my first Dollfie

Hello and nice to meet you guys . I recently became interested in Dollfie dream dolls from some pics I saw on tumblr a few years back. I had no clue what these dolls were, I did some research and finally learned what they were. I’ve traveled to japan many times and even met my wife there but never payed attention to the doll section at Volks. Well anyway I just got my first Dollfie while I was in japan a few days ago and I’m very interested in more info and custom parts for my girl . Sorry to be so long winded but I look forward to talking and meeting all of you!

Hi Chris~ I'm a newbie too to the vinyls at least, I have many Volks resins. Congratulations on your girl and you're right there is so much to learn & beware they're addicting!

Another Florida resident, huh? Awesome! There does not seem to be many vinyl collectors in Florida, welcome to the hobby and congrats on your first doll!

There are a lot of threads around here on customizing, and swapping parts is pretty easy.

The most popular non Volks custom parts are Peach Pai busts, but that’s mostly if you think bigger is better. 

You can get clothing and wigs from a lot of companies other than Volks, but a lot of the clothing from third parties is made for Resin BJDs, and not Dollfie Dreams. Stuff that works on an SDGr should fit DD-F3 pretty well, but Dollfie Dreams have a much narrower waist, so some thinks won’t look right. 

8” to 9” wigs from any quality maker should work fine on you girl.

You've got a Towa who has the Dollfie Dream Dynamite (DDdy) body, which has a larger waist, hips, and thighs (and obviously bust) to the regular DD and DDS so fit is a bit different. Based on how Volks rates their own outfits, SDGr stuff may or may not fit. Dresses and skirts you don't need to worry about much, but fit for shorts and pants will be quite different so many of those that fit other DD won't fit your girl.

Anything you find that you are interested in if you ask here someone can probably tell you if it will fit.

Ok, with DDDy some SD16 sized outfits are supposed to work.

There doesn’t seem to be anyone into anything in Florida lol. Every time I fly to japan it’s only me. Thanks and where are you located in Florida? I’m in West palm beach .

Thanks I’m really interested in customizing her especially with silicone parts such as the peach pai. There’s one I’m going to buy on eBay . I did buy a torso part before I got her only to find out it’s for a dd body .

I got a few different clothing styles for her while I was in japan. There are some I’ve found online I want to get . I bought as much as I could until my wallet was empty lol.

As for Florida interests, it depends on what hobbies you are looking for. I scuba dive, am into the theme parks, and into geek culture which I can find plenty of people to talk with where I am. I also have a decent sized group of resin bjd collectors I hang out with.

 

I have not gone to Japan yet, but it is on my list - I do agree that I do not know anyone that would be willing travel with me at the moment.

Nice my mom lives in Orlando , I go to Disney a lot as well. I don’t know anyone who has dolls besides me lol. I’m a geek as well as a techie. I have a tech job probably because of my interests lol. Well if you ever go to japan let me know, my wife is Japanese and we’ve been talking about moving there in a year from now. But I also never had a travel buddie.. sux tbh

I am a techie too! Computer Network Engineer (. . . basically a Sys Admin). Well, if you are ever interested in meeting other doll owners and are available to make the trek (one of the ladies who joins us on occasion is from Tampa) let me know! We meet relatively often. 

Unfortunately the most important thing I need to be saving up for right now is a house, so a trip to Japan is still a way off for me. . .

Oh sweet , I wish I had an office job but I do I.t and managed print support that requires I drive to customers and be onsite .. Yeah I’m down to meet and see what other people have , sounds pretty interesting . I’m a customization addict. All my life growing up I didn’t have a computer or car that wasn’t modified 😅

Imgur can be very crass, but in the future if you decide to host stuff there you don't have to "post to community" to link them here. Most of my doll photos are private for the same reasons you experienced. I'm sorry that people were... like that, friend, you didn't deserve it. 😞

Glad to hear it! And I hope we can see more photos of Ariel in the future! And good luck shopping for her outfits... part of the reason I haven't gotten a DDdy or an MDD is because I... don't want to have to buy new clothes. |D;
