Favorite Doll Stand for DD?

Making the stand come with a zip tie like that sounds cheap and makes it very inconvenient to use. Besides that, the base being translucent blue now doesn't really live up to the "invisible" name at all. The change of the support from chrome to black seems ok.

The base is actually CLEAR not blue. The blue was like a plastic cling wrapped around it that I had not removed at that time! Most likely to protect the base from scratches or marks.

Anyone have a recommendation for stands to use in for the outdoors? Often times I do my photography i simply get uneven land or too much grass/shrubs. I don't seem to have any solutions so far... maybe except to jerry rig a one of my tent spike to the Alice's Collection Invisible stand.

Did you look at this article that @Subaru linked earlier in the thread? Since you mentioned a tent spike this sounds like it might be something like you are looking for:

There's some other stands out there along with some clever homebrew solutions.

I have a link for an invisible stand for outdoor photography that utilizes BBQ skewers, heavy gauge vinyl, coated wires, and some tape.

I'll need to go look for some metal wires on amazon or something then. I'll put the invisible stand on hold for now.

Another mention i guess. Smart Doll never responded back after 4 emails. I guess they simply don't care about my question about purchasing a smart socket so I could modify my dollies. I'll give up for now since not like i can get a supply without them. So instead i'll 3d print my own. Lets go design it then.

I found the Daiso chairs a little too narrow for my girls. Even the DDS can't quite fit. A DDP or MDD would probably fit better. Do Azone girls have less junk in the trunk than dollfies?

Without hopefully starting up that topic again, given how Danny Choo has trash-talked Volks on social media over the last year or so, I really would've been incredibly surprised if you got any response to this question. The official line for any of the Smart Doll accessories, from clothing to...anything, really, is the stuff is only for Smart Doll and nothing else.

From a legal standpoint, there's always the possibility the company could be liable by saying their products work with someone else's products if they cause damage, and if the companies were reversed, I suspect Volks probably wouldn't have told you how to use a product of theirs with Smart Doll either.

Edit: Actually, from Volks or most companies I'd expect a canned response saying they don't do such, probably.

That shows my lack of interest and ignorance about his dolls then. Anyhow thanks for the info. Maybe they'll respond back if I change my request then from modification to replacement.

If you're wanting something like the Smart Doll telescoping stand, mabye you'll be interested in this:

There were pictures of those in use that I can't find now. The three-pronged hook can be attached to anything it will fit on; I remember it was being used on the back of the bust, with that hooked into the lower edge.

That person sells his products online from time to time at:

The current message says it will open again in April. I imagine that direct ordering from overseas isn't possible, but it should be doable with a proxy.

Weighing in with a very cheap option. I bought a few of these from Aliexpress:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000354997118.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.5edd4c4dsfama0

Pros:
- Low price point so great if you have quite a few dolls you need to display
- Easy to put together
- The height is adjustable
- Works perfectly for Dollfie Dream and felt very stable! Also fit my SD resin BJD

Cons:
- Arrived with practically no packaging apart from a plastic bag, so the plastic saddle piece of one of the stands was broken (did not affect use of the stand and the seller probably would have replaced it, but I didn't ask)
- The metal rod did not sit snugly into the plastic base. Easily solved by wrapping a piece of tape around it, which you can't see once the stand is assembled.
- Too tall for most MSD/MDD
- Not sure how this compares to other stands/if others are more robust, but I probably wouldn't 100% trust some of my less stable (*cough* Delf Type 1 *cough*) resin BJD on this stand, as they are heavy and might become unbalanced if they decide to fall. Having said this, I have left them in the stand and haven't had any accidents yet.

Overall, I do think this is excellent value for money if you're after a simple product that doesn't do any fancy stuff. If anyone wants to see photos/ask anything further feel free to message me :)

Oh I literally just ordered a couple of very similar stands a few days ago https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001908511250.html

They don't offer a steel base but there's a smaller size available. I hope they'll arrive mostly intact 🤭

@Matango fingers crossed!

I've got 5 of these in the large size.  I bought mine off eBay but they're all the same thing and super cheap.  Usually you can find them in singles or packs of three.

They're great stands for the price.  Sometimes you'll get one that the little clamp doesn't hold the best (the stand my Miku is using is like this) and when adjusting her pose the top piece of the stand will slide down a little bit, but it's never been an issue and she's never fallen over using these stands.  The 'seat' is a little too big for DDDy, as you'll have to spread their legs to lift them off the stand, vs DD you can just pick straight up regardless of pose.  The DDDy thighs want to hold on to the seat part.

You CAN also use these for MDD with a simple modification!  I used a mini pipe cutter to trim only the bottom piece until it was short enough for my MDD to use. Took me five minutes and it works perfect for her.  10/10, great cheap stands that keep your girls standing.

Please excuse this ancient photo of my girls lol

@OccultBeast oh wow that's great to hear! I bought one in each size to try them out. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is that the plastic base will be too light to hold up resins without tipping over (they are heavier than vinyls).

@Matango Ah yeah, I don't think I'd trust them to hold up my SD resin boy, as they're very lightweight.  They can even tend to tip over with my DDs if I put them in poses that don't have their center of balance aligned over the stand correctly.  They're probably fine for basic standing poses with resin BJD, but I'd still probably not keep my SD boy standing all the time with one of them, because when he decides to tip over there's no stopping him since he weighs so much.  One of the wooden-base stands from Volks is much better for that sort of thing.

Definitely share info on the smaller stand though when you get it!  There's enough collectors out there with hoards of MDDs who would prefer to buy a bunch of pre-sized stands vs modifying 10+ stands by hand lol

For display I swear by the Volks stands, nice and solid, but with any luck I’ll be getting 2 of the Asachanchi Rapid Stands: http://asatyantisupport.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/ラピッドスタンド

And two of these: http://asatyantisupport.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/あそ棒ついん(とらいでんと)

I say with luck because while they seem to accept overseas orders, this is the first time I have ordered through them. I’m still worried the order may not be accepted.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

@OccultBeast I'll definitely share my opinion when they arrive (will probably take a while lol). I have a Minifee and an MDD on her way to test the smaller one out.

I own 2 stands, the Selens saddle stand which is reviewed here as well as the Volks waist stand.

The Selens stand works great. I went with the acrylic base version for DDP (about $60 USD). It uses a screw to adjust the height versus the lever mechanism that Volks uses. The base is quite wide, but this makes it more stable. The saddle is coated with silicone for better grip / less chance of scratching and can handle a little squeezing to adjust to different sizes. There's an overseas dealer for this, but I ordered direct through a proxy.

Here's a pick showing the stand's base that I took pretty recently.

spacer.png

The Volks waist stand... I got it since my girl tends to dress in shorts a lot, but I've had more trouble getting this to work well for me to the point where I end up using the saddle stand anyways, or I have her sit. The small metal base makes it a little more prone to tipping especially if the pose introduces some lean, and the plastic lever mechanism for adjusting height isn't as sturdy.

I actually just ordered some of these from Taobao and they are really great! I saw 1/3, 1/4, and 1/6 sizes available on Taobao for about $5 each. At first look it seems like they all have the exact same size base but just different sizes of poles, so yeah maybe just ordering all 1/3 scale size and trimming them down with tools is the way to go.

I like that the white base blends in super nice with my white shelving.  I still have some fancier polished wooden stands I can use for dolls wearing outfits with shorter skirts but these super cheap ones are actually fantastic, esp camouflaged on top of white shelves or hidden under a super long skirt where you can't even see the stand anyway.

Since the Asachanchi stand has come up, has anyone here tried using the Libertaire stand?

https://nisanigo.booth.pm/items/3719314

I admit the idea of it seems nice, but I do wonder how that tiny base can keep the doll stable in some of these poses. Is it weighted?

I haven't, but the concept seems solid.

According to the text it weights 300grams or roughly .7 pounds. They have warning about not dropping it on your foot. They recommend using it with DD, SmD, and Obitsu, but not cast dolls due to weight. I assume cast doll refers to resins.
