He's making people pay for bright orange headcaps that don't even match the heads, as well as buy multiple blind boxes to get enough parts to put together a doll that they have to cut the flash from and assemble themselves, with no faceups, and at prices that are higher than similar, fully assembled dolls without flash from other companies. And the best part is people actually believe that it is a blessed privilege to be allowed to buy from him.

Seriously, if I had a 3D printer I would print headcaps and sell them for not much. 😕

Edit: also I'd see if I could get closer matching filament. It would cost more, but not be orange. Because Chappy is a rubbish film sorry not sorry.

I wonder if a thorough critique as to why Chappy is a basic, insultingly rudimentary, commentary on artificial intelligence would get one banned in Smart Doll Land hahaha

Oops I spelled the title wrong XD it's been years since I saw it. But I remember thinking "wtf just watch short circuit instead and save some time!"

(Yes that film has aged poorly and is... problematic. But yah. Anyway, I always give the huuuuge disclaimer whenever I make friends that I have very harsh opinions on films, and please don't take it to heart sempai that I hated Chappie! 🤣)

Is it me, or do people get randomly banned super often lately? It seems like every other day I see a Facebook post about someone who's a long-time costumer, not problematic by CJ standards, just someone who's bought a few things from them and is ordering another doll, or normal parts, and their latest order got canceled and refunded. And everyone is telling them to "contact support" but if they're banned they can't do that? They usually tag Danny as a last resort move, but the posts always get taken down by the groups in fear.

Now some groups even forbid these posts, but people in the comments seem to either be sad for them and encouraging to reach out to fix the issue, or super salty about all the random CJ rules and the fact that you have to be so careful when voicing your opinion. Lately I've seen more and more outraged people, so I wonder if that's how we will reach "critical mass" as someone said before. 

Randomly banning perfectly normal customers who've spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars is probably not gonna end well. It looks like a "suspicious activity" bot is doing the hammer work now, and they're making many mistakes but they also prevent the victims from speaking out and fixing them...

it's like Danny doesn't want any customers besides his minons like no shade but how are you gonna grow a business if you don't even want new customers. edit i know i sound pretty harsh, but i mean his loyal fans sound like the same person cause they always write about how amazing smd is and it's just like c'mon don't you dislike or even disagree with Danny even a little bit?

Some people (younger fans especially) think they're not supposed to have any negative thoughts ever about a person/work they like or they'll be a "Bad Fan".

...Also even if they did have problems they probably are too afraid of the banhammer to post about it openly.

I'm honestly just waiting for when this all really blows up. Like, when he'll ban so many people that his business will run the risk of going under if he doesn't do something, or that he will blurt something out on social media that won't be as easily forgotten/forgiven as his insults against the Chinese and Japanese were... things like that. I know that he will have his fanbase that will continue to follow and excuse his actions and buy his overpriced products no matter what, but I have to wonder if his Gracious and Grateful and Not Entitled Exclusive Fan Club will be enough to sustain him... granted that it doesn't shrink. 

I'm lucky because I wasn't into his products in the first place, so it's pretty amusing for me to imagine him attempting to pre-emptively ban me while the smoke blows out of his ears, but I genuinely feel bad for people who really did/do like Smart Dolls and for the people who liked him. It's a lot less fun to watch the fire when that fire has burned you.

I wonder about licensed dolls. How much of his entitled this, and that, rants are translated to the japanese audience anyway?
I don't have a good grasp on DC, as compared to Marvel, but his ableist attitude and rules - actively excluding people - I wouldn't want my property associated with all the toxicity.
Just curious... in general, could the licenses for unreleased dolls, be revoked at any time, for any reason?

I’ll lay odds that license holders have some sort of reasonable exit clause. 

Still waiting to see if Danny teases another LiPPS member. If he doesn’t, we can probably assume that Namco is done with him.

All I can find is references to a prototype that was commissioned for marketing purposes back in May. 

I think that Tales of Arise doll was just a promo - not intended to be a prototype for production.

 

...because after all, making that very slightly  complicated wig would overwork his staff soooo much! 🙃

He might be referring to random posts here and taking guesses at random to ban customers who might have mentioned buying anything here. Which also means the ban hammer might drop on a lot of random innocents.

Having just seen a photo of Chitose Multiverse it reminded me of this discussion and made me wonder if multiverse wasn’t an effort to get away from the Mio Akiyama facsimile debacle. 

I mean getting rid of the original Chitose sculpt never made sense to me. She was a popular sculpt and in the modern world of sameface smartdolls she was a unique character. Certainly multiverse looks nothing like the Volks Mio sculpt, and only keeps the mouth from OC Chitose as a nod to the original.

i aksed cause  Youtuber, i watch, who does doll stuff, had mentioned she asked danny for a styled wig an he granted it. also didn't get banned an no seems to be banned to for asking his have thier smart doll bag signed.. hmmmm

I think it depends on who is asking. He's refunded and mocked people publicly who've made special requests like that. If one of his loyal fans were to ask, I imagine he'd grant the request quietly. I'm sure he wouldn't be happy hearing that something he normally doesn't do is mentioned in a youtube video if that makes sense.

Influencers don’t necessarily get the same treatment as ordinary folks. The influencer represents an advertising platform that can be obtained by giving them otherwise hard to get things.
