The Facebook debacle & other issues

The 'boycott smart doll' stuff is older , one of the gags because his stance is 'if you don't like my product you shouldn't buy it'. Which. fair, I guess. lol

The boycott smart doll stuff originated in 2022 (I believe?) when the whole n*zi uniform debacle happened. It was a huge mess and when I personally stopped supporting Danny and his brand. Instead of taking accountability for the harm he might've caused, he went on a rampage, attacking anyone giving valid criticism and banning people for daring to question him. The "boycott smart doll" stuff was made into merch and overall it was just a cringe fest of ultra childish behavior.

I just caught wind of all this. I've thought he was a windbag since he stopped any interest in furthering the robotics aspect, but now to see him claim that about male dolls has me laughing. I literally make it a point to not take pictures of my one adult girl with my boys 90% of the time for the exact reason that I don't want my boys seeming like an accessory to a girl. 😆 I'm genuinely conscious of this and take it into account, so I'm glad that comes across to others. I'm very much usually only interested in having more vinyl boys.(keeps my wallet safe at least)

I'll be totally honest, I just attach much more strongly to my boys. I'm another who rarely connects with a girl doll, and when I do, it's usually an MDD or 1/4 because I simply like cute things. And even THEN, I'd be lying if I said I didn't keep a few of my girls around solely to wear cute dresses and nothing else...My girls are sometimes accessories to their clothes lol. So total opposite of what Danny is claiming as usual, because I agree. People who do have vinyl boys usually dote on them from my experience too.

It's pure BS and since when he acept criticism? 

If I don't remember wrong (and maybe I'm) last time someone complained about the scarcity of light skin SmartDoll, it was accused of racism?  Or something similar.

He banned a lots of folks he shouldn't have been banned according to this article

Well, I just scanned it, and the chunks I did read seem to indicate a fairly astonishing lack of self-reflection.

OTOH, that article can now be used as a reference for calling him out when he bans someone for a different reason than the ones mentioned in the article.

I wonder how long it will be accessible...

A fairly large chunk is boilerplate Press Release language, the kind that gets released when doing damage control after some executive decision regarding the customer experience goes (predictable) wrong.

Well, given the pretty negative response he got for putting the boys up at higher price tag, taking them down and saying he's canceling them because people were upset, and then doubling down and saying only his most loyal sychophants with online followings are getting them... yeah, of course he'd do Press Release Language.

It probably has to do with tarrifs. He gets enough shit for raising prices as it is, and if he moved manufacturing to China, he'd have to raise them more. And since Americans are his biggest market, he's probably trying to make sure people can still buy his dolls so he can continue profiting from the American market.

Has nothing to do with genuine care for US consumers of SmD, likely has everything to do with the fear of losing a substantial portion of his buyer base. Not that that'll matter when the recession/depression hits.

How would US tarrifs affect him in Japan getting his casting done in China?

It's not like producing his dolls in China would mean that he will be shipping from there. He still would have to add the face ups for example. Probably the frames can be made in Japan too. So product finishment and shipping would stay in Japan. 

However it would make sense to cast in China if he has to go to an automotive company to cast his boys and raise their price ridiculously because of that 🙈

Btw the situation took place before the tarrif nonsense started, didn't it? I really think it's just him beeing him (=it has to all be done in Japan even if not making sense)

^ That. "This is a 100% Japanese company" has been a pretty strong SmD promotion point since day 1, and has been used before to explain why clothes and accessories are relatively expensive compared to those from other Asian countries. Think it started out as a genuinely well-meant intention to support the local vinyl-toy casting businesses, but apparently the last of those companies have closed out now so it's all been going a bit sideways.

apparently  he now is "forced" to label his smd's "toys"    it finally happened.    I mentioned he could get molds in China, because adyka uses China for their molds. idk it's all so exhausting in the end.

Well, Japan is also is being hit with tarrifs, I was just theorizing that he may pass the extra cost onto his US market. It is more than likely just him being his weird weeby self wanting to produce a 'Japanese Made Only' product.

Tariff's don't directly affect the seller/producer though, they are paid by the person bringing the product into the country by buying it i.e. the consumer and/or dealers. In this case they make the product less attractive to the American market, but it doesn't actually cost the company more to sell their product; the extra costs are always on the buyer.

There is no extra cost for him to pass on.

As an European who has to pay import cost for as long as I can remember I am flabbergasted as how a lot of US consumers don't seem to understand how this stuff works. 

The only thing that is a possibility is that he offers a shipping channel where you can prepay the costs (I have seen that offered for EU), but that's still not a price raise.

That said, i am sorry you all have to pay such ridiculous extra costs and hope it will be normalized soon.
