DidiMews Posted May 12, 2019 Hey all! My name is Didi, and I live in the UK! ^_^ I've been an avid doll collector for something like 10 years now I suppose. I exclusively collected IpleHouse JID dolls for a long time, which were resin. I got a Smart Doll for a Christmas present a few years ago, but didn't really bond with her, as cool as she was. She was just too big for me! I then moved away from the BJDs altogether for a while, instead focusing on Nendoroids. Fast forward to late last year, and I stumbled upon Dollfie Dreams. They kind of felt like my BJDs and Nendoroids mixed into one! I'd always seen them around, but they felt like they were totally unattainable for me being in the UK. But I totally fell in love, and after some research discovered they weren't so impossible after all! I have two heads sharing one MDD body now, and another body on the way. As well as a head away getting a face up and mod work! I've been selling my BJDs and Nendoroids like mad recently, trying to raise funds to funnel into my MDD's. xD My poor wallet has been up and down so much recently, ahh~ I'm so glad I found this forum, somewhere to share the passion for these awesome dolls. I'm still totally blown away by my own. Coming to Vinyl dolls from Resin is like a completely new hobby. They actually hold their poses! It still amazes me. Hope to speak to you all soon! Thanks for having me! 😄

BottleStar Posted May 12, 2019 Hi, Didi! Welcome to the forum! OoOh! Which JIDs and Nendos did you have, if you don't mind me asking? Also, who was your first smart doll? Mirai? Chitose?

I have over 100 Nendoroids, at least. And that's even after selling. I went pretty mad with them. As for JIDs, I had every female sculpt that was available, and about 5 boys. I think it got to around 20 in total. But I've been steadily selling them off. I want to reduce it down to about 3-4 at most. My first Smart Doll was Mirai! I got her during what I think was her first release. I sold her a little while ago. Even though she was kind of similar to DD's, she just didn't have the same vibe to me. I'm happy she found a lovely new home!

I'd ask you which franchises but so many franchises have had nendos made for them. How old is your oldest one? I'd imagine that the older ones are probably worth more by now. It's been a long time since I've sold any figures, so I have no idea. I only have three full scales and I'm still trying to decide when to finally set them free into the world LOL! I'm half waiting for the series to get another season first, to see if the demand will go back up. So far it's not looking so good. 1 hour ago, DidiMews said: As for JIDs, I had every female sculpt that was available, and about 5 boys. I think it got to around 20 in total. I used to have three Blue Fairy TFs and that was a handful. Still trying to figure out how I feel about the boys. Sometimes they aren't as fun to dress up as the girls are. I only had one- Kyle. He's not much in the facial expression department. Are you selling your JIDs' clothing also, 😄or are the lucky few going to inherit the whole closet? I hear they've been making them more sturdy over the years, since some parents have been buying them for their kids. I have no idea, I still haven't had a chance to grab one. All the ones I wanted are discontinued now. I don't bother visiting the website anymore.
AeroHail Posted May 13, 2019 Hiya from another UK person! I also started with resin dollies before making the move to figures and then to getting a MDD! I saw your girlies in the other thread and they're so cute! I'm excited to see more of them! Even if they're sharing a body for now X3

I think most of them are listed on my MFC account, although I haven't updated it in a little while! Some are sold now, and replaced with others. I forgot I actually nearly reached 200! https://myfigurecollection.net/profile/DidiMew I think the oldest ones I have are my Puella Magi girls. They're some of the first ones I got, I love them. I'm keeping most of their clothes! They actually fit the MDD bodies pretty well. At least the more casual outfits do! So I'm keeping hold of those for sure. I've mostly sold all the big dresses off, as they won't suit my MDD girls at all. I have a Kyle too! I'll probably be selling him on at some point, as well as my Owen. I'll be keeping my other boy, Vito, because he's too adorable! ;w; I think the Smart Doll are very pretty, but just not my cup of tea... I much prefer MSD sized dolls! And I love the variety in DD's so much more. My wallet doesn't love it, especially when I'm browsing Yahoo Japan and watching heads that are going for over £1000~ XD 21 hours ago, AeroHail said: Hiya from another UK person! I always feel like we're a bit more of a rarity in the doll world, on the whole anyway! :') All the fun stuff happens in other countries!
