Precaution questions

Hi there! I'm currently planning on buying a DD and had a few questions to ask and would be VERY grateful if you guys helped me out.

1. I know that DD stain, and I hear that if you leave them in dark clothing for too long that this will happen. So just how long could I keep them in dark or colored clothing?

2. can DD wear super dollfies shoes?

3. Super dollfie wigs on DD?

I'll take a shot at answering these!

 

In general it's wise to assume dark clothing will stain your doll. Some of it actually won't but unless you have a test piece around to find out it's best not to push your luck. A lot of time dark thread can ALSO stain the DD body. Some outfits can cause bad staining in less than 10 minutes of wear while others can be left in outfits for days before any staining (if any) occurs. For short photoshoots in non-humid conditions USUALLY the dolls will be fine - some outfits that are very dangerous to DD skin under any cirbleepstances include the Saber Maid set and Beatrice's School uniform set.

 

SD shoes will sometimes fit DD - sometimes they will be a bit snug and sometimes they'll be loose. If you're shopping on Volks' site they usually list if DD feet are compatible. In general if the shoe has an inside measurement of 7cm-7.5cm it will fit on DD's feet.

 

DD have a wig size of 8-9cm so any wig in that size will fit them. Some DD have slightly smaller heads and can squeeze into 7-8cm wigs (DDH-03, DDH-02, DDH-01, and Alna can all weasel into the smaller wigs. Some DD's have very large heads (DDH-04, Yoko) and fit snugly in 8-9 and can even use 9-10.

 

Usually I stick to 8-9 and use silicone wig caps to help hold wigs onto smaller heads.

PlasticFantastic pretty much summed it all up very nicely, but one thing to remember is that sometimes it's the thread of the outfit that stains and not the fabric itself. I have an off topic vinyl doll that has a pretty interesting pattern in red all over her body because although the dress she wore was lined every place the thread touched her stained her terribly! Really if you like to keep you DD in darker clothing then it's a great idea to invest in a body suit.

 

I also second PlasticFantastic suggestion of silicon wig caps for the smaller dollfie dream headmolds, they really help hold wigs on their little heads.

The other thing to note is that Volks themselves are very haphazard in their outfits, so you can't trust that even DD outfits won't stain.

 

Some of them are lined great and don't stain at all. For example, Beatrice's default set didn't cause me any issues at all. But others stain like crazy. I've heard that Beatrice's alternate outfit will stain in minutes from various sources, so I haven't chanced it. Even in the same set, they can be weird. ALNA's default set is nicely lined...except for the straps which will stain her a nice red if left on her for a while.
