baldylox Posted June 30, 2019 Altho it wasn't a doll meet per se, a local friend and I decided we wanted to go out and about and get some photos with a couple of the girls. We weren't sure of where to go but luckily, my mom had suggested a place south of us called Botany Bay. It used to be two plantations but is now a park and nature preserve along with a historical site. It has lots of roads you drive along and stop along the way to look at things and read about them. We started out along the main road that followed the marsh edge. After finding a spot to pull over, we hopped out and got some photos. I brought along one MDD sized girl this time, Hitomi. She's an 04 head on an Obitsu 40cm body. DSC_0027 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr She's very outgoing and inquisitive so she gets into trouble easily. 😉 DSC_0028 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr And of course, she's a climber. DSC_0029 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Since this place used to be a working plantation, there are still fields of crops being grown here by local farmers. behind Hitomi you can see some of those. DSC_0031 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr My friend brought along her Lucy. She wasn't too keen on being outside in the heat and bugs. LOL DSC_0032 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Back in the car we head to the next stop. They give you a map at the trailhead so you can read about what things are around. DSC_0033 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Our next stop had a big open area under some large oak trees so Hitomi went climbing again. DSC_0034 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0036 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0038 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0040 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0042 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "PAPA! LOOKIT MEEE!" Hitomi! Don't fall into the mud! It'll never come off! DSC_0044 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Looking out across the marsh. DSC_0047 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Hitomi was right next to the creek where goods and supplies were brought in and out of the plantations here. DSC_0048 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0052 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Playing hide and seek are we? "Nope! Hee hee hee!" DSC_0053 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0056 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0059 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Lucy was looking for the nearest mall or Starbucks... DSC_0061 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0063 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "I'm done climbing now! Let's go!" DSC_0066 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "Why did you stick me up here? There's BUGS up here!" DSC_0068 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Further down the road Hitomi found a big red flower. DSC_0070 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr This is the remains of one of the chimneys in a slaves quarters. DSC_0073 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr They put up fences so people can't damage it. DSC_0074 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "I'm hanging out Papa!" DSC_0076 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Another large flower caught her eye. DSC_0077 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr We had to cross a marsh on one of the dikes that was built. On one side is the saltwater marsh seen here. DSC_0080 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr On the other side was a big pond of brackish water where fish and oysters were stocked for a food source. DSC_0082 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The road across the top of the dike. DSC_0081 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Low tide down at the boat landing. You can see the oyster beds down near the water. DSC_0085 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "Let's go swimming!" Um NO. DSC_0087 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "But why not?" That's salt water and is bad for you my dear. Plus, the fiddler crabs will eat you. "THE WHAT?!??!?!" DSC_0090 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The man eating fiddler crabs! RAWWRRR! DSC_0091 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0093 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr A large heron doing some fishing. DSC_0094 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Oyster shells. These things can be razor sharp and slice your feet wide open easily. Ask me how I know that. DSC_0097 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Saw this egg on the ground, looks like it was somethings lunch. DSC_0098 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr And some flowers were nearby. DSC_0099 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr This a weed. A frikkin HUGE weed! DSC_0103 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0104 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "Look at all the pretty flowers!" DSC_0105 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0106 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0107 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0109 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0111 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "What's all that over there?" You mean the big tree? DSC_0113 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "NO! Behind the big tree silly!" That tree is covered in Spanish Moss. DSC_0114 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Ahh the bricks. This is the main plantation house remains. DSC_0115 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0116 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0117 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0118 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Behind the house was an area under some large trees that I think may have been a garden at one time. There were loads of flowers like this poking up. DSC_0120 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0121 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr And then we had this: DSC_0122 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Heading away from the old house we found more brackish water areas. DSC_0125 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0126 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr On the road to the exit was a huge fallen oak. We hopped across a ditch to go get pics of it with the girls. DSC_0129 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0131 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0133 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The root base was huge and a mass of gnarled roots. DSC_0135 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr You can see the dirt road in back along with our state tree, the Palmetto. DSC_0137 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0139 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0141 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr It looks like the tree is someones house! We saw this skink watching us from a large crack in the trunk. DSC_0142 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0143 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Lucy was NOT happy about the skink being there. DSC_0145 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_0148 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Looking out thru the underbrush of ferns and scrub palms. DSC_0149 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr And that was it! We plan to go back out there again but with more people for a full doll meet. It would be neat to do a picnic out there! Thanks for looking! Billy 4 I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Poofiemus Posted July 3, 2019 Oh nice! You got some fun shots; looks like Hitomi had a blast. . .and that Lucy really wishes she brought more sunscreen, the snowy biscuit. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

I would have liked to have hit the beach area but the parking lot for it was packed and it was a half mile walk out there and half a mile back with no shade at all. So it would have been a death march in the heat out there.... we passed on that. On 7/3/2019 at 1:23 PM, Poofiemus said: Oh nice! Hitomi is one of the really active/outgoing MDD girls so she really cut loose. Lucy was NOT happy about being out there in the sun and heat so to make it up to her, we had buy lots of ice cream on the way home. 😉 Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
