But I really want to add Clover to my family.... she's just so pretty with her light green coloring! But I'd take one of the purple ones like @asianed has in a heartbeat too. That girl in person and out in the sunlight has the most incredible GLOW to her. It's mesmerizing to say the least. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. She looked amazing in their promos but in person she is just breathtaking: DSC_0557 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I know she doesn't had the iridescence in her skin like Lilac and Clover do but she's still gorgeous. As you said, I do hope the same woman who painted the last group does the new ones too. The original concept for Icon was a doll that would appeal to the western audience. It would be a combination of the Super Dollfie style head sculpt, vinyl body of dollfie dream, with bold colors for the faceup. The main artist that contributed to the design was from Volks USA! Another cool thing about the icons is the faceup itself. Like the Super Dollfie line, the faceup are all done by hand rather than a mask (like with DDs). I really would like to try for an open-eyed tawny this time, but my heart belongs to DD Jupiter, and I'm not sure if I can afford both, even with my doll fashion convention be postponed until next year. There was a message from the Volks president in which he said the mismatched joints were a design choice that calls out to the BJD elements mixed with Vinyl doll elements that Icon's represent. Personally I would prefer matched joints too, but I am not sure they are ever going to do it. I honestly have a bigger issue with the DDIII frame than I do the joints. Even if it was a design choice, Volks seems to listen to their customers and would probably be willing to change it if enough people asked. I can't recall a specific instance off the top of my head, seems like in the past they've used the "it's a feature not a bug" line but later improved designs. Jezrah Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) I'm personally really torn on the mismatched joints. On the one hand, they bother me. But on the other hand, the dolls are beautiful, and how else do you get a skin tone like that but to dye a doll anyway? When you dye them the joints often come out a different shade, but if I adopted an Icon, I'd probably try dying the exposed joints, because to me a different shade of green/purple/whatever is closer than normal skin. At least the vinyl parts are all an even color already. The use of the DDIII frame doesn't bother me. After owning II series bodies, when I adopted my first III series body I was so impressed with the difference in the posing performance. The new F3 has some improvements over the III series, but it's not as drastic a difference. I unfortunately just don't have the budget left right now to try for an Icon. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll do another release, and if I'm not, maybe I'll check out the prices in the second hand market in the future. I'm not into fantasy but since they are removable, I don't mind at all. Joints still don't match (and people still complain xD), but that doesn't bother me at all, and I hope for an online lottery (a preorder would be so great 😭). I'm glad the make-up and outfits are the same, as I liked them so much on the first release And I like the more color pop colors they are going with wigs and accessories.
