E-mails sent out about the USA lottery for the Icons. Looks like a repeat of last year's design (Breeze). Lottery period will be from August 1st thru August 10th. Interestingly, the actual page on the site states: "Products will be shown at the start of the lottery."

Ok, entering for Nikki again, and I have to get that wig for my Terra, she's rocking some serious Tina Turner vibes there.

I have been waiting for this!  I seriously have a mighty need for Nikki!  My friend has her and I drool all over her whenever I see her in person, she is just amazing.  I gotta have her for my Icon group!  I'll be putting in for her for sure, I just hope I get her this time as last time I lost out.

I'd like to go for a Clover with Romantic Gaze but it doesn't look like she will be available this time.

I have that white wig too from a Dream Choice order. If I am lucky enough to win and she doesn't come with it, I'm set.

That's awesome!  The very first Icon I won was Tawny and she didn't come with the long white wig that she was wearing in all the promo shots.  The one she came with was nice and all but I fell for the Icons solely because of Tawny's pics with that specific wig and eye combo.  Luckily, a friend in Japan was able to get me that exact wig from the Volks store in Akihabara after about 4 months of it being in and out of stock.  Of course it was a Doll Point exclusive so he had to wait to find it instead of just being able to order it.

If I do win Nikki this time and she comes with that short wig, I'm not sure she'll wear it.  I much prefer the long blonde wig she has from last year, it's so much nicer looking IMO.  But we'll see if my luck holds up this time.  If not, I'll probably try to get a Yor Forger instead.  😉

I think that's one of their standard wigs. 

Are the Icons only for Volks USA? I kind of like entering lotteries, although I can only enter the Japan ones as Volks USA won't ship to the UK.

If there's a D'Coord lottery this year I'll enter. Last year I didn't take part, although the odds of winning seemed much greater than when I entered a couple of SD lotteries (I didn't win either time).

For this lottery time yes.  They've done them for Japan twice now I think but the Icons were originally set up for the western market ( North America ) by design.  They've been making the Icons for 5 years now and they've only had 7 releases, 5 in the US and 2 in Japan.  They always do the big release in the US first and then occasionally they'll do one in Japan.  I guess it goes by how many they make and how popular they are.  Since Volks doesn't release any numbers on how many were made or sold, we can only guess how many are actually out there now and how many will be available at this next lottery.  Going off past numbers it seems that an average is around 40-60 dolls are released each time max.  This is only my guess tho and I might be way off but taking into account people who post here and Facebook and other social platforms when they win these girls, I only see about 30-40 each time.  Half the people who win them probably don't have much of an online presence so that's why I bumped up my guestimate of totals.

 

Annnnddddd now I'm droning on and on.....  LOL

I was really hoping they might offer the Icon base bodies again. I regret not springing for a Mint body for a hybrid I’ve been stewing over since then. 😓

I’m really curious if anyone else has considered it, but the topic is more appropriate for the DD customs thread:

Pretty sure that was more of a one time thing they did for people who had an original and wanted matching joints or an f3 icon. 

Maybe at some point in the future they will do a pre-order for parts, that's something people will need eventually. Plus, option busts should be a thing, but I expect they'd be more of an occasional offering as a pre-order. 

I'm holding out hope that tawny skin as a standard thing might be a reveal as a part of their 20 things to celebrate 20 years of DD.

YES!  I don't care how they make them available but YES!  We need option busts for our girls!  At the very least make a large bust, smooth or not, I don't care.  My Tawny NEEDS a bigger bust!  I'm not sure if my other girls want one but if they were available in all 4 colors then I would buy them anyways just in case.  I really, really wish Volks would do this!

I'm with you!  It's a gorgeous color that should be made available all year round, not just in summer like they do with the D'Accord stuff.  I know a lot of people in the US that have said they'd love to do some customs in that tone and I'm sure people around the world would like it too.  Comer on Volks!  Give us what we want!  😄

I just entered for the lottery on Nikki!  I really hope I get her this time.  Romantic Gaze Iris was also on the radar but I chose to just enter for Nikki on the off chance I get her instead.

I entered for Aisha.  I wanted to try to get her last year, but I was in the process of selling my home and moving out of state, so really couldn't take on any additional costs.  Crossing my fingers!

I entered for a Lilac again. I'm not holding my breath though, since she's usually one of the most popular entries. I would like a Clover too, but on the minuscule chance that a miracle occurred I can't afford both, so I stuck with Lilac.

Does anyone know how the lottery wins work on their new site? I know we should get an email with payment details, but on the old site there were ways you could still finalize your win by looking up the product through search and adding it to your cart, even if you didn't get the email.

There used to be a backdoor glitch that would show a certain sequence or part number under your orders page but after a discussion here about it, we think someone at Volks was either told about it or saw it themselves and fixed it.  So now that way of knowing ahead of time doesn't work anymore.  I haven't heard of any other way of knowing ahead of time whether you won or not.

In this case it's not a question of knowing ahead. I figured they eliminated that from the new store pages. I am curious how the won products are made available?

On the old site, even if you did not have an email with a link, if you had won you could search for "Icon" and your search result would show you the dolls you won. Or you could just do a general search for outfits, and all the won outfits would be the first results. That way if you missed the winning email due to an email error, you could still get your stuff.

I hadn't heard of that before.  All I know was to go into your orders page and if the button at the top left had a "group" button or symbol you could click on it and all your stuff would come up.  But it's been a long time since I won any Volks lotteries so things have probably changed.

The groups granted access to the products in their database, so if you searched for at item you won, it would show in the search and you could add it. 

I'm sure Nikki will be competitive, so I'm expecting not to get an email, but I still want to be sure no email in my inbox actually equaled no win. 

Aaahhh I just got a winning email for Lilac, I'm so excited!!!  She'll be my first Icon.

Congrats, if you haven't seen them in person, you're going to be amazed at how gorgeous they look.

I got a winning email for Nikki.

Next year, I'm going for Aisha for sure. She's just so lovely and sweet looking. I'll probably go for Serra at some point too  

Edit: Before I paid, I poked around their site a bit. I didn't see any sort of winner notification, invoice, nor was Nikki searchable in any way. It looks like you have to have the winner email in your possession in order to complete the purchase, so be sure you have Volks whitelisted.
