What materials should I use to paint finger nails on Dollfie Dream hands?

I've never done any miniature painting before, and I'm really at a bit of a loss as to where to start.  I assume it's similar to materials used for face-ups, but I thought it would be better to ask.  To be clear, I'm not talking about putting on acrylic tips or anything, as I'm sure that's WAAAAAY beyond my skill level, just painting on the hand itself.  Thanks in advance.

I've done it with actual nail polish, and later removed it by just chipping it off as once it cracks it will come off in pieces and all come off without much effort. While I would assume there's a possibility of that staining the vinyl, it didn't in my case.

I've also seen an article on a Japanese blog where Tamiya acrylic paint was used to do Miku Green fingernails. This was also painted on directly without otherwise sealing the vinyl, but I don't know if it would've stained underneath.

That's good to know about using actual nail polish.  I'm not so much worried about staining, as much as I am about color bleed to the surrounding vinyl and/or melting it.

That wasn't an issue for me. Check the label to make sure any nail polish doesn't contain acetone. I don't know if it ever does contain that, but as that's what typical nail polish remover uses, some might use it as a base. That when left in contact with vinyl will melt or otherwise damage it.

I use these:

They have a nice shiny nail polish-like color to them. I would think any metallic acrylic paint would do nicely. If you want a matte color and not glossy, regular acrylics will also work great. I have painted nails on 3 of my dolls lol. 2 have the metallics, 1 has regular paint.

Oh, I would seal them if you don't want to re-do them all the time though. They always manage to chip like real nails lol.
