finnleo Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) Well its been a bit quiet on this front for me, due to a few reasons, and while I've managed to now complete both shins for my liberty project, its been a bit stalled in terms of how to go about the next bits... But... what to do when a project stalls ? when many of your projects have stalled? ... start a new one, naturally.... But seriously, i've actually had this one on the back burner maybe even longer than my liberty thing, which is to take some of the old obscure volks items and try to reproduce them. namely stuff like this: sewing007 Believe it or not, but thats actually a La Personal Blue label item from the year dot. patrons of the USA volks store might actually remember seeing this as the gateway picture to the clothing section of that respective webstore, even long after its existance had been eradicated from the japanese site. But from this you can see that some things have come quite the way's in terms of overall quality, but also something else has been lost, namely the edgy fashion that DD's represented. So I decided to have a bash at this swimsuit of sorts. (I think it was labeled as a bodysuit if I recall correct). For the first iteration, or general attempts at least I left the criss cross section out, even though I do have small enough eyelets to get them done. as it turned out as I ended up wanting more organic lines for my thingy, getting the pattern done was easier said than done... sewing008 I believe I mentioned the roll of pleather I managed to procure in another topic somewhere, and it is more or less suitable for this sort of thing. Thick enough not to need any weird sacrificial stuff while sewing, but flexible enough that it will bend around itself rather nicely... That said... turning the patterns into actual items didn't go without its sacrifices... sewing009 So after about two days of beavering away at these, I finally managed to get two presentable sets done, one more or less in the spirit of the original, and then a two piece affair which is based on the one piece pattern. sewing010 The one piece one has some fine tuning still to do with the patterns, and the two piece's top just has a bit of delamination going on, but over all Im happy for now, more or less that I have at least something to show off for two days worth of head scratching. ... And while these might look like they resemble stuff you could get off YJA, I did not reverse engineer anything to actually make my patterns... so then it was just time to charge the camera battery, and then stuff Elizabeth into this, since it does give a minor Avenger saber vibe... 'Liz (alter 2nd) was a fun model to work with so that probably added to the overall experience. The fine fake leather print fabric was indeed quite a nice find, and having nearly the whole roll of it helped with easing some of the stress with the practice pieces, since I didn't have to worry too much about wasting it ^^; Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
