April showers bring May flowers, but sometimes the flowers bloom early!  I love the rain, as it's such a seldom treat here where I live, and I just had to dress up my girls in some rainy day chic!

I've been watching The Wicker Man (1973), and decided to do a May Day/Beltane celebration of sorts as Spring is in full swing and summer is coming right around the corner!  No bonfires or sacrificial rites though. Maybe I should have though, may have helped with the color saturation.  Oh well, still learning.  

What would a May Day be without Samus as May Day Queen?

And finally, Katie and Emma take time to wonder how the hell they got roped into putting this all together while Samus doesn't seem to be anywhere to be found.... I mean seriously, this was mostly her idea anyway, why isn't she doing this?  Ugh.

Early post for June!

My birthday is in June, and with the age I'm turning it's making me a bit nostalgic of summers past and I wanted to do a throw back to the 90s for this month for fun.  Even though there's nothing about June that themes 90s, it does make me want to go to music festivals and listen to SKA so I guess it still works. lol

The Vans Warped Tour and X-Games, skater girls and our parents old pants made cool again.  Emma rocking the skater vibe!

And Katie showing love to those alternative and grunge fashions that, well, aren't as gone as the others, and never left if you're in the PNW.  

This month was a lot of fun for me to put together, and there may be other nostalgic months for months I can't think of normal themes for (Looking at you August and September!) I hope you all have a great month ahead of you, thanks for stopping by!

July is here, and that means CON season is here and back in action!  From Anime Expo starting this weekend, to San Diego Comic-Con at the end of the month, I hope if you're attending you have a great time and get a chance to meet up! 

Cosplaying and attendees make it all the more fun, here's Emma staring off ready to catch some anime panels: 

Comics being the core of comic-con, we needed some cosplay from Katie dressed up as Poison Ivy! 

Movie panels and fandoms meet all the time, and here's Samus dressed as a Ravenclaw (Do you get it?!)

It's summer fun but make sure to take a break from time to time for refreshments with friends:

August is heating up and it's time to head to the beach!  Here's hoping you get the chance to make an escape to the shore.

Looks like the little Metroid is collecting shells?

 

Yup, just cute tiny Metroids doing cute tiny things.  I need to find a way to bring the big Metroid back.  I used to have it wired for it's "flight", but I changed shooting locations and don't have anything to tie it from yet.  

September has come, summer is ending, and fall is waiting in the wings.  This time around, I wanted to share some of my other passion with you all and mix up some cocktails that I find bridge the gap between the sweet, brightness of summer and the cozy warmth of the coming fall perfectly.  

First up is Emma with a a fruity herbal lovely from Empress 1908 Gin 

Next is Samus with the perfect mix of a summer shandy and a fall pumpkin ale

Finally we have Katie reminding us that while the bubbles of summer are ending, the thrill of the spooky fall are just around the corner with a nice Skeleton Key Cocktail

What a great idea! I was very into cocktails back when I was living in Germany. That hobby died down after moving to Japan, as alcohol is much more expensive here and kitchen space is also quite limited...

And of course, lovely photos!

I'm glad you both like them!  They all were pretty tasty, and I'd recommend any of them if you're inclined.  That said, I've been making Skeleton Keys for a few years now, and they're one of my Halloween/Fall staples. 💀

I do a horror marathon each year for the whole month of October, and last year I made or designed cocktails for every movie that came up on my list.  It was a lot of fun!

That's a bummer, but I totally get it.  I have a tiny minibar that I made that. when I made, thought would hold everything I needed.  I quickly filled it, it can be space intensive for sure!

Thank you for those lovely pictures! They definitely help to set the mood for spooky season. I also really love how you coordinated the outfits with the drinks. I don't usually drink alcohol at all, but I must say, those cocktails look almost as amazing as your girls! 😉

Thank you! I fully understand it not feeling like fall yet, I did these shoots in the middle of a heatwave.  The ice was melting really fast, so I had to pose them with empty glasses then go make the cocktail really fast and get all my shots within a few minutes.

I've done that, themed cocktails to episodes of an anime TV series I was watching with friends. Fortunately we watched 2 episodes at a time, so it wasn't that many drinks each night. 😅

A mid-month surprise as Volks finally got me the final pieces!  Welcome home to my newest girl, Lydia.  What better way than to celebrate with a herbal twist on a champagne cocktail.  The Empress 75.

@DesertPhantom51 Congratulations! She is stunning, and the dress fits her like a glove. Lydia is a perfect name- she reminds me of Lydia Deetz with that dark hair against her pale complexion. The composition of that first shot is everything. It could be an advertisement.

Thank you!  I've been wrestling with her name while I was waiting for the last parts to come in, and when I had her together and dressed it all just clicked. 😁

Your new girl is beautiful! Her name suits her. The cocktails look delicious too  

Love the fact you combined beverages with your girls' outfits color, almost like each girl turned into her respective beverage! I wonder which one a metroid would be??

This is something I have to make. Champaign cocktails made with Dom Pérignon Brut and Courvoisier VSOP cognac are the best, so this variation is something I have try.

It's quite tasty, the floral herbal of the Empress and the dry crisp of the champagne mix together wonderfully.  I hope you like it.

@Pit quick and dirty, but it was too fun of an idea.  A sweet and sour cocktail matches the Metroid well I think! 

Japanese Slipper

1oz Midori

1oz Cointreau

1oz Lemon Juice

Shake over ice strain into glass, garnish with a cherry (or three)
