Ever get.... Urges?

To buy particular types of dolls/doll-related things? It's just a bit of a fun question and I hope no one thinks it intrusive.

 

My current thing is doll clothing... I have even sold resin dolls to buy more clothing for the girls and boys I have, mostly the girls as they have never had as much as my guys and most importantly.. things for Neris to wear as most SD stuff is so big on her!

 

Another of my weaknesses is interesting wigs and eyes.. i have a whole box dedicated to spares haha

When do I *NOT* have urges??

 

 

My main "urge" is for scaled items for my girls. This includes any and all furniture, stuffed animals, accessories and items for them to play with. I also have a weakness against cute clothing or sexy clothes... Volks just KILLS me with those!

I would have to say clothes, as I want my girls to have many different outfits as possible.

 

At the moment, I moving towards skirts and dresses and then plan to increase the shoes.

 

Along the way, I may divert to a sofa as Dollmore has one that interest me, but is a tad expensive but have found a few on Esty but cannot decide if I should be having a 16" or 18" long sofa

 

I would love to have a low black table like Baldylox/Scripple/Mitsuki has but don't have the skill to create it let along the equipment.

For me, it's anything that catches my eyes that i think will look good for my girls. Sometimes i wish i had less urges

I think being a collector = being a spontaneous buyer haha xD. There's just so many awesome things out there!

 

I love wigs and shoes! I don't even have a DD yet but the DD things are piling up xD

See, for me it isn't the collecting, it's the making stuff. I keep getting these ideas for projects, and I just don't have time for all of them! But the urges are still there, gnawing at me. . .

 

Lately I've been getting urges to put together another custom doll. (Which I can't afford right now anyway unless I suddenly get both a good animating job and a huge commission.) Just to make it worse, the custom ideas I have I would probably model an entire custom head in Maya and get it 3D printed, which would without a doubt be more expensive than an SQ Labs head and would need to be dyed to match the skintone on top of that. >.<

 

I've kept myself from actually starting any of these so far, but that hasn't kept me from looking up other stuff related to them, like wigs, tutorials on making custom shoes, other tutorials for various props. . . Really, the "slippery slope" logic is as much my reason for not taking them on currently as cost overall!

 

But that doesn't shut up that voice in my head going, "Hey! I could make a ___! DO IT!"

I am a clothes whore. (pardon the word) I can't stop buying outfits for all my kids. Resin and Vinyl. Sometimes I forget I have something and buy it again and then wonder why I have two.....I am not really a big shopper for myself anymore, so I spend on and spoil my dollies!!!!

I am in the same boat as poofiemus. Lack of funds keeps me from buying a whole lot, but I too have an insane love of creating things. Right now I am trying to customize the outfits I have, and trying to learn simple sew projects. I would say more casual clothes are something I would like.

 

I still have small projects that need attention, like my Alice's hair ties. I want to finish my grownup Alice, and have been fishing around for a DDdy, but for the prices used ones are, I might as well add a little and save for brand new. So I guess I will have to be satisfied with that, unless I get a job that pays more. (or a second job) XD

LOL! This sounds just like me! And in the local doll meets I attend, they nicknamed me "The Volks Whore"! That's due to me always having lots of Volks clothing for my girls and always being drawn to it at meetups. If a girl I see has on clothes I like, 99 times out of 100, it's something from Volks. LOL

Wigs! I have a hard time resisting them. Clothes are a little easier, since I'm learning to sew I can convince myself I'll be able to sew something anyway.

I'm trying to limit my wig buys to ones that go along with a specific character/outfit, instead of just randomly buying whatever appeals to me ^_^;

For me, it's definitely clothing. I love having options when I'm dressing up my dolls; the more options, the better! I don't really buy accessories or other things like that for them, just clothes, shoes, and wigs--but clothes are my favourite. I like buying things for them that are cute, but not my personal style. ♥ It lets me enjoy it vicariously through them!

I get urges to buy clothing too, but more specifically - fancy anime, game, and lolita clothing for dolls.

 

In other words, outfits that look gorgeous but that I could never get away with wearing in real life. I can enjoy them vicariously through daughters.

 

Whenever I ask for trades, that is usually the kind of thing I ask for ^_^;.

I got a HUGE urge on wigs.... I really don't know where I will store them when the big box arrive.... I also have a crush for japanese styled clothes, and cute shoes! But for now money and space issues are keeping far from ordering those....

 

It is quite funny. I am a very controlled person, and usually don't buy "futility" for myself. But don't think twice about buying things for Beatrice....

 

The guys at least have the excuse that they could not use these kind of clothes. But as a girl, people kind of expect that we use fancy dresses and stuf.... This can render hilarious dialogs when you try to explain why you think is a waste buy a 100 dolares dress for you, but buying a 150 usd DD outfit is a deal.

I'm obsessed with tiny things...anything dollfie sized I see when I'm out shopping I usually end up buying, lol. I also have a weakness for Iwako food erasers...and of course shoes for my girl. =3

Shoes, shoes and more shoes. I simply can't resist them. I had an urge for wigs also but it seemed to decay with time. And as I have more girls now I think this year I'll be buying lots of clothes.

I get urges -ALL THE TIME- to buy more dollfies, though usually I can stop myself from buying clothes and stuff. The thing is however, rarely are my impulsive buy urges enough to overcome my ingrained cheapskateness, so I don't often fold xD

 

The reason I don't often get urges to buy clothes or accessories is because I'd rather find a way to try and make them myself. I taught myself how to sew for my girls, I can sure teach myself other things too! I've in fact made Feena a completely functioning pair of big (for dollfies anyway) Sony headphones, scavenged from my very first pair of headphones (even if those headphones I haven't worn for 7 years because the headband and earpiece broke and I got tired of repairing it with masking tape and twist ties lol). For clothes, my friend's mom has a huge closet full of fabrics that I'm free to take whatever when I'm over there, so I can make nearly anything for the cost of nothing but my time And besides, they often don't sell the exact outfit I have in mind anyway. Not that I'm that good at sewing, it takes me a long time to sew everything by hand :S

 

So I guess I have urges to make stuff? xD
