Honestly, as much as I'm a fan of semi-real but still kind of cartoony art styles, there's something about these sculpts that make me uncomfortable. Maybe it's the overly large forehead, or maybe the tiny anime nose?

Although I already have a Mirai which is my favorite I would not mind having a summer although Freedom has me in love! what a beautiful redhead.

Random news:

- new clothes

- dolls/products set to be discontinued will be going in the garage; Journey Classic tea and Mirai Cocoa are both in there so if you wanted either of those girls now is the time to buy

- Chitose Multiverse slight delay due to order volume

- Boy pre-orders will open in April, along with hand parts

(It may seem silly, but I can understand how people might be upset with the wig construction since it doesn't really allow for it to be styled in any other way. Or worn on non-Smart Dolls I guess.)

Also calbee potato chips are apparently a hint to an upcoming SmD boy (I'm guessing an anime license? IDK.)

Talking about tweaks for making dolls in different skintones + prototype Cinnamon Oceana (she looks...off somehow, idk, maybe I'm used to the curly hair?). (Also there's a lot of interesting sold-out prototype rejects in the garage, including some whose names make me think they might have been superhero-based...)

Uh... I'm a bit iffy on the way he's trying to refer to Gemini..... just use they/them pronouns it's not that hard? I hope he's asking about Eiji because of relase priority, not one getting released and the other getting discontinued.

Centaur's outfit reminds me of Rey, or Wonder Woman on her home island; Prophecy reminds me of @Koala-Krash Seer Sisters line. Also I'd absolutely love an anime-style/vinyl mermaid or naga or dragon fantasy girl...I don't think Danny knows what kind of can of worms he's just opened here...especially if he starts making cortex dolls in fantasy colors like he said...

But in un-April 1st news:

There's going to be issues with shipping packages out from Japan for a while; they're delaying pre-orders for the boys because of it.

I would love a vinyl centaur body with internal frame for reals. I'd be all over that. With an internal frame they'd be easier to make stand in poses other than straight on all four hooves.

Plus you wouldn't have to worry about trying to figure out how to restring it! 😄 And if they made male centaurs as well...😍

As I said, lightweight vinyl fantasy parts + easily customized dolls + lack of anime-style fantasy dolls = I think Danny's just accidentally tapped into a market we all didn't know existed until now.  

Apparently Danny just reeeeally wanted an excuse to make 3-eyed girls lol. Perception and Prophecy!

(While I appreciate the sentiment of "I'm going to make dolls with certain looks even if they're not as popular because I know there are people out there who will still love them"...the way it's worded is a teeny bit condescending...) 

Anyway, multiple eyes isn't personally my thing, but I am always up for More Weird Fantasy Dolls!

Wow! Perception was a trident too! She is so pretty! (And that wig is even more pretty, I really want that...)

Big announcements!

- "Fortuitous", which is basically a Smart Doll blind box/lucky bag (10% discount to get a random Smart Doll. That's about $350 for cortex and $430 for vinyl, although idk what the options actually are yet. Also, probably only girls). 

- They're working on making the centaur girl, and possibly other fantasy dolls, + fantasy colors!

Should we have a separate thread for all the new fantasy stuff, or should I keep posting them here?

(Also idk where he was getting the idea that people don't want a centaur enough that he feels the need to bring it up - all the feedback on instagram and here has been pretty dang enthusiastic about the concept. Make weird things if you want! You don't have to justify that!)

I'm too picky about sculpts for a 10% discount to really be tempting. There are only two sculpts I'd really like to get, Entropy and Resilience... and of course I want Entropy in tea or cocoa skin, which have yet to even be released (if she ever will be!).

If I could choose, I'd wan't a blue trident centaur! SO COOL! And I totally agree, If somebody is whining about an idea of centaur (or trident, of fantasy colours) being made, just toss those whinings to the closest black hole, Danny! Keep making even wierder things!

A semi-real tea girl in the works! That's so fun! Reflection is just gorgeous. I'm really happy to see Danny and co working on them.

Mold work on the Tridents, plans to make them in more colors, and possible hints at more greek mythology-based fantasy sculpts?

I really like the mold, if it didn't have a third eye. I wonder if that will ever be a thing.

They are now selling bundles of reject parts that previously would only have been available in the retail store. The parts you will get are completely random, so these might be good if you want to practice painting on vinyl or set up some swap threads or something.

Warning for typical Danny over-disclaimers and complaining about anyone who "criticizes" his products.

Also, the "blind bag" has been updated - you can now choose to ensure you get either an anime or semi-real style doll, but the discount is less.

- For a random Anime/Semi-Real girl: 49,400 yen (about $459)

- For a completely random doll: 46,800 yen (about $435)

If there had been outlet or reject heads, then I would have jumped on the chance, but as it is I don't have much use for a load of limbs XD

(And I noticed the rant... *headdesk*)

 

The addition of a choice between anime or semi-real on the 'blind bag' dolls is useful, but I'm still on the fence about the whole thing. Personally, $400+ is a lot to gamble with so I wouldn't go for it, but for super-fans of Smart Doll it's probably a fun idea.

 Aww no heads. That rant is just... yikes.
