Where are we talking about an Archer?

Sorry, I suppose I should have said Crimson; Archer from Fate/Stay Night is the character I want to customize him to be. Crimson has kind of been a grail (pun not intended) for me.

I am not on any social media where I can see posts from Danny but anime-sugoi.de are listing the back soon dolls as available from March 3rd, so it looks like we'll have them available very soon 😀

I'm hoping I can grab a gray SmD girl and some elf ears so I can have a drow/dark elf type character.

Has anyone gotten an SmD with the new skeletal system yet? I'm interesting to hear people's opinions on it.

I'd been wanting a cocoa girl for a while and the Evolve frame launch kind of gave me the excuse to go for it. My early impressions are pretty positive--I don't mind the 'haptic' feedback system; while different joints have different levels of click feeling/noise it's never really unpleasant or horribly loud, and it feels a little to me. I'll be curious to see how the frame wears over time, but so far it feels solid. The feet are maybe the loudest/most tactile part on my girl, and the hand pegs feel a little harder to pull out (but easier to replace) which will take some getting used to, but so far so good.

Posability does feel better overall but I haven't grabbed one of my gen 2 frame girls for a direct comparison yet, since they'll have to be stripped for full range of motion. I will say the improved head range of motion was a pretty nice surprise--smooth tilt motion from side to side which the old frame didn't really seem to offer--and I'm really happy that tilting the bust back and forth no longer seems to open a giant chasm that tries to eat the sports bra. I haven't tried with a non-standard bust, but overall it feels like a really solid upgrade. I'm not exactly in a rush to try to replace the frame on my existing Smart Dolls, but I'm definitely glad I waited for the frame to pick up this one.

I'm still holding out for potential regular release boys, but by the reviews out so far, it seems to be a good improvement. Which is not surprising- the team has been consistent about upgrading every version, and I must respect Danny's willingness to wait until he feels he has a good, solid product before releasing it officially.

the design has two possible points of failure. the outer planetary gear and ratchet tip wearing flat, and the "spring bit" of the ratchet fingers snapping.

The first will probably make the movement less audioble, the ratchet tip longetivity is the biggest question mark personally, but probably will outlast the second problem, which will probably make the joint limp if all the ratchet fingers break over time due to aging or too hard plastic compound is used.

EDIT, although if the mechanism is there just to add the clicking noises and some extra retention, and there's still screws holding it all together and applying friction, then there's nothing really to worry about, except the loss of the clicking sound.

There's a new prototype of the plus-size girl up on Instagram that looks a lot better.

It really does seem like he's going through with it!! I had assumed that the concept would end up a half-done prototype tossed in the garage. Whatever his faults, the fact that Danny Choo is pressing forward with this makes me so happy as someone with a body very similar to the one shown. I feel seen.

Currently watching BNHA, 1-2 episodes behind on the anime rn and absolutely obsessed! (being in a fandom late has made dodging spoilers an issue tho :()

More into Nendoroids and my resin BJDs rn- including some BNHA character shells hehehe :)- my Smartdolls are boxed up at the moment but I'm still happy to talk dolls and doll plans!

I love how these look!! usually I find a lot of doll pear bodies to be overly stylized but I really, really like the way these look! 😄 I'm looking forward to these! Can't wait to see how people style them.
