Modified Smart Doll Telescopic Stand for DDs

Heya there, after much deliberations instead of making my own Telescopic Stand / regular stand for Alsty. At home I have almost no use but I want to have a third point of contact for Alsty to do photography and I've made several ideas to create myself one but I figure it'd be easier to take an already proven idea from the Smart Doll and just modify my DD bodies for it.

I'd like to modify my DD or just get an contraption of some sort that could easily attach to the stand to assist in getting the dollies to pose better. The question is has anyone attempted to modify one for a DD yet? As of my many photos, I usually just use my Joby Gorillapod for support but that's often too not heavy enough.

I sent a strange request to SmartDoll to see if I could purchase any of those support socket, lets see what they say.

It's an interesting idea for sure, but I'm not sure you'll find a secure enough way to attach the socket to your doll. The socket piece plugs straight into Smartdolls lower spine in a very tight way and that spot does see a lot of tension when you use a stand with it.

One of my girls actually had her socket start to push out and I had to hammer it back in with a rubber mallet, it's such a tight fit! Just pushing it in wasn't nearly enough force. (at least not with my wimpy hands)

I already emailed Smart Doll contact but it's Christmas so it's probably too busy for me to get a response. The idea is for me to wait for 2B to arrive and i'll see what i can modify to fit the socket in. I have Saber in that new DDP but i've actually yet to take it apart to see how I can modify it. 2B is a cutie but the new body will be entirely used for Alsty as she travels with me everywhere I vacation.

Small update. Smart doll either is still too busy or don't care to respond to my earlier email so another email it is. 

Well, they've been closed for the holidays since the 28th. I don't think anyone is there to answer until the 5th.

Definitely keep us updates as I am curious about this mod as well. I personally have a few ideas involving neodymium magnets however, I don't have a Smartdoll so I am not sure if the idea is viable...
