I’m thinking about selling my girl.

Hello, I Decided to sell my little Ram. I tried several things like changing the wig and eyes. But I can’t help it, I’d rather have someone be happy with her then me keeping her for collecting dust. So I’m selling her. Thank you all for your answers. It really helped me try to figure out what to do.

Buyee is one of numerous proxies that can be used to buy from Yahoo Japan. Be aware there are fees of one type or another that add to the cost when buying this way. In Buyee's case, the fees they add aren't all that much and then they use an exchange rate that is worse than the real one to make most of what they get; the prices shown in your currency on their listings reflect that already.

 

Selling here on the forums is one option or you might find someone that wants to trade. There's also ebay, which while isn't a good place to buy DDs shouldn't be that bad for selling them. As for whether letting your Ram go only you can make the choice, but it's not that unusual to find a doll just isn't quite what you wanted or expected once you get her. There are also some collectors who find they like owing most any doll for just a little while and then selling for a different one. There isn't really a wrong way to enjoy the hobby.

 

Before you do that, I recommend think about it first. If you do sell her, the DD sailormoon you want will be a secondhand model could also have some imperfections, and it could cost you more than your brand new Ram. Depending on how much you want to sell Ram for. 

Do you want to sell her because she isn't what you expected? Or you really want a DD Sailormoon?  If you do like Ram, keep her and save up for Sailormoon.

its nothing like that, when I got my custom Rem I felt so happy and I just don’t feel that way about Ram. It’s not like she isn’t what I expected or something along those lines, but it’s just.. it’s hard to explain. And I’ve always wanted a Usagi doll since she is the doll that started everything. I’ve seen some Bjd and DD before her but it just didn’t interest me and I thought that they were really expensive. So when usagi was selling I thought she was expensive and I didn’t know about the first serve first come service. So when I decided to buy her she was sold out. And that’s kinda how it went. Although I’ve tried for some dolls in lottery’s Ram was my first I  won. so it’s not that I don’t want my Ram. but it’s just, she doesn’t really match me. She’s sitting an a bookcase in an outfit I put on a month or longer ago and I find it sad that I’m not happy with her, so I hope I could make someone else happy. And Ive wanted usagi since she was announced and I still want her. That’s it. Sorry for the long reply but I just had to explain it.

Sounds like you're kind of on the fence about Ram. Maybe try some alternate eyes and/or wigs first? That can make a WORLD of difference. I felt a bit weird about my Miku when I first got her, but once I got a different pair of eyes in her I knew she was gonna stay--she became even more of a staple in my crew when I redid her faceup a couple years after that. Also, maybe your Ram isn't meant to be Ram, but someone else. This happened with the Out of Base head I have: I thought she was going to be Akemi Homura, but then Azone's Homura proved to have more than enough grumpy sass for that. The Out of Base head literally sat in a jar for like a year, and I did contemplate selling her, before I went, "Wait. She's MY doll, I can do with her what I want." So I gave her a very un-Homura faceup, and she almost immediately named herself Abby Normal and I bonded with her completely. 

Sometimes these dolls almost have ideas for themselves, and they're hard to predict. I definitely recommend trying even Rem's eyes and wig on her, just to see how that feels. If there's meetups in your area, go to one and ask if you can try some other wigs or eyes on her--when I or people in my local group have done this in the past, we've sometimes wound up with a full style swapping party and it's super fun. You'll probably laugh at how bizarre some wigs look on her, but you very well might have a couple potential winners. 

That's very true, eyes and hair makes all the difference. Not to scare you but it took me about 15 wigs and about 10 different shades of blue before I got what I wanted for Alsty. What I eventually came to is nearly exactly what I wanted. A wig is just a wig and you need the right combination of style and color. 

A big portion of this hobby is experimentation. Sadly it'll take you a while to find that image that just tugs on your heartstrings. Once you do, just bask in all that gloriousness. 

When I first got Alsty, I went on a shopping spree bonanza for like 2 years. You slow down once you collect enough. Or that was how I was...

This and what @Poofiemus says can certainly be the case, but I sort of experienced the other side of it. I have two floating heads, one from a licensed DD and one custom painted one. For both of these, I bought and tried so many different wigs and eyes, and never found anything to look like I wanted, and it just discouraged and depressed me and I felt like I wasted my money on all this stuff that just didn't work out for me and I have no use for. So I learned that, for me, it's also important to know when something just isn't working out and to stop trying.

Of course it depends on your personality and what you're looking for in the hobby; the experimentation isn't something I enjoyed at all really. I'm normally only interested in character dolls with their specific looks, but one of these was also my attempt to make something with a look I had envisioned, but nothing I tried actually matched what I had in my head.
