Ohana Posted December 31, 2019 Good evening, I’ve been wondering for a while. Does anyone know how much collaboration models are made? I’ve been wondering that since I started this hobby. I personally think around a few hundred but I’m not sure. So for example the first Sasara doll, not a second version, reboots or other versions, So only one kind of a doll. If anyone knows, let me know. and have a happy new year! ✨🎉
finnleo Posted December 31, 2019 The simple answer is, no. Actual production numbers have never been given out, except in the case of one off auction special editions that mostly have been SD's in Volks'es case. The only even slight indication of production numbers of any given doll was probably some of the photographs give out when the first Miku Preorder came out, and they showed the boxes of packing materials, where someone with some math skills could estimate how many boxes they might have had which ran into the thousands in that case. Another time was a box of Sakutarou plushes that accompanied the Ushiromiya Maria doll's, where they showed a box of them, and again you might have made an educated guess as to how many dolls those were going to go with. But again that was just only one box showed of possible many. One aftermarket guess station might be figure collection catalogue sites, like My figure collection -- but those results have to be taken with a big grain of salt. For instance my favorite comparison, Original Blue versus Lily saber at one point was around 1:3 in favor of old Blue being the more rare one, but it would seem safe to think both were produced in equal numbers -- So either Lily owners are more prone to catalogue sites than blue owners, people want others to think they have a lily since she's generally more sought after, or they had a lily and haven't updated their listings after selling it for provenance reasons.
