HighHeel Alternative / Suggestions

Heya there, i'm trying to get some shoes for my girls. First on my list is attempting to get some simply but elegant high heel for my girls. I'm trying to look for something similar to this. Any suggestions or webshops would be awesome.

Volks sells shoes too, but they tend to sell out fast.

Looking through those links, I only currently see high-heeled pumps on Tata's Paradise, Dollmore, Leekeworld, and Crobi. Nine9Style shows some but are sold out.

I also see some at rRabit.

For the taller heels, generally it is SD16 size shoes you want. That just means they're made for the SD16 high-heel feet and generally don't work with the SD13 flat feet, but usually work with DD.

I'll say this though: I have a few Volks SD16 pump and pump-like shoes, and those nearly all fit very well. I have one pair from Crobi (a style they no longer sell), and shoes from two random Taobao sellers, and none of these were made as well or fit as well as the Volks shoes. I haven't bought from any of the other above listed shops, but I think it's a crapshoot as to how well something will fit DD outside of Volks own SD16 shoes.

And that's just pumps. As was being discussed in another thread, many Volks boots, both SD and SD16 types, look huge on DD, and many of the SD (not SD16) other shoes do as well.

They aren't the taller heels like you are looking at, but I will recommend the low-heel SB-SD-226 which Volks still has available:

These fit tightly and perfectly and look size-appropriate like such shoes would on a 1/1 girl. Taller heels with straps so I guess are Mary Janes, SB-SD16G-083 probably fit well:

I have SB-SD16G-075 which are the same shoe except shinier finish and they fit.

These are older and only available if you stalk Mandarake or Jungle, but I have the following that I'm happy with how they look and fit:

• #116, SB-SD16G-037
• #126, SB-SD16G-047
• #127, SB-SD16G-048
• (not shown) SB-SD16G-055 (look just like -047 but different finish and light colored lining)

The Volks SD low heels, the one listed above excepted, tend to have varying gaps around the feet, some of which can be minimized by stuffing a cotton ball under the front of the feet. Others are really only usable if the doll is wearing thick and opaque socks. At least if you're as picky about the fit as I am lol.

I had planned, and still do, to post pictures of how the shoes I have fit, but I'm slow at doing anything.

I got some nice plain heels in a lucky bag from Yomi's on Taobao. You can find their shoes here.

I think the version I got was similar to this (or this exact one) and it fits DD fine with a good heel and acceptable balance:

Some of them list SD16 & SDGr, which means they should fit. Some of the Senior girl shoes list an inner foot length of 8 cm, and DD feet are under 7cm.

Hopefully, but how they look is what I always wonder about. For example the ones shown up there in Beani's post don't even fit on the doll they're being displayed on, at least to the standard of what I consider to fit, with that big gap around the front of the foot.

I have these, apparently. I have a red pump that says "Phoenix" inside and looks the same I got from some random Taobao seller. They fit DD feet ok, and are actually pretty tight across the width. On a doll, or a real person, nothing is going to go into the pointy toe of these shoes, and I think the 8 cm measurement must be including that.

If I figure out where I stuck them I'll see if I can take a phone pic here in a bit.

I'm just apparently really picky about the shoes and how they fit. I've also got those black Yomi's Blog pumps in Beani's picture up there, and I don't like them. Both pair are in my growing pile of stuff I need to sell.

I really think some of that is just the reality of fitting an inflexible resin foot into the shoe. In a way you aren’t really putting a foot in a shoe, you are snapping two parts of a model together. 

That's true, but there are ones I'm satisfied with like most of the Volks SD16 shoes (not boots, but that's a whole 'nother issue).

For some of these other makers though, an issue may be making the shoes fit a variety of dolls, or whatever particular SD they are patterned for. "SD13" and "SD16" have become almost generic doll category descriptions, even though they're really only specifically about Volks dolls.

While not SD16/high-heel, SB-SD-226 proves that there can be a perfectly fit shoe, and those SD16 ones I specifically mentioned above fit really well too.

Here's some pictures; I realize now I didn't choose an angle where the heels are visible but these are all SD16 types. These are just quick crappy phone pics as it's all I could do quickly; when I make the thread about shoe sizes I will do more useful pictures.

To me, the Phoenix shoes look bad because you can see the back of the toes so it's clear the shoes don't actually fit right, though it's not as bad as that Luts picture up in @Beani's post. In addition, they are very tight across the width in that same area so they barely go on, and show that from the sides. They are so tight I don't think anything other than possibly sheer stockings could be worn and I actually suspect the shoes would damage those because of how tight it is to get them on.

The Crobi ones fit nice but they're poorly made; the material is that fake "patent leather" that shows white where it cracks, and where the stiching is around the top there's white dots everywhere. Probably that could be touched up with red fingernail polish, but there's also some ugly glue seams where the plastic sole piece is put on.

The Volks fit in a way that I'm satisfied with. Yes they are longer but for a really pointy style like these are that's how real shoes would be too. They're pretty tight too, but thinner socks should still work. Inside the spoiler is the terror I experienced with these today:

Unfortunately for me, the insole is deteriorating on these. I've kept them in their bag and put the little wad of tissue paper back in the toes. When I pulled the first one out I noticed a couple of scuff marks on that insole. After I took the foot back out, it had black marks on the bottom and there were more marks in the shoe. As it was just surface transfer, the stuff cleaned off the foot. I rubbed on the insole a little and more of the finish came off and it feels a bit sticky. As long as that's the only part with a problem I'll make a paper insole and put it in the shoe, but it's another reminder of how this stuff doesn't last. I believe these shoes came out 10/2013 so just over six years ago. I got them two years ago from Mandarake, and whenever I got around to looking at them I don't think they were like this, so the deterioration has likely happened in the time since that I've had them. These also aren't the oldest pair I have...

One more point: The same shoes are sold by so many different places, and they don't always have the same name inside since the same factory may be making ones branded for different shops. I remember at whatever Taobao shop I got the Phoenix ones from, they showed maybe six different colors, clearly all the exact same style with the same plastic sole and heel. Some of them said Phoenix inside, others said other things. I found this pretty frustrating in that, now that I know I don't like this particular shoe, it is really difficult to not accidentally buy the exact same thing from someone else in trying to find something different, because it ends up being the same shoe with another label.

That's why I just gave up on buying anything that isn't Volks shoes, unless I see a picture of something I like somewhere like this forum, and then find out exactly what it is then consider buying it. I'm having enough issues with clown-shoe-sized Volks shoes but at least I know what to look out for there, mostly.

I'd be easier if I wan't so picky about this stuff I'm sure. But everything for DD is expensive and I think I should be able to expect a certain level of quality and fit given what I'm paying.
