Thespian Posted February 17, 2020 Hi friends! I just finished moving and pulled my old DD family out of storage. However, I found that my Rin has a very very slight dent in the middle of her forehead, likely from my parents' dog a few years ago knocking her over. As far as fixing it goes, it isn't a hole, so I thought I may be able to get the vinyl to move if I took a hairdryer to her. I'm just hesitant because it's so close to her faceup, which I'm afraid to damage in the process. Any advice? Jezrah Posted February 17, 2020 I had an accident with one doll where her head was off and sitting in her lap while I decided on new eyes for her. My clepto cat jumped up on the shelf and stole her head, because when it was upside down and with no head cap it was easy to bat around on the floor. Needless to say I was furious when I found my cat with her. He had dented her face in quite a few places, and I was really devastated because I didn't know if she could be fixed. I decided, the heck with it, she may already be ruined anyway, and dipped her head fully into water that was just boiling. She does have a default faceup. She came back out with her faceup unharmed, and all but two tiny dents came back out. I'm still unhappy that the two little dents didn't come out, but they are largely unnoticeable unless you are looking for them, so at least she wasn't ruined. Heads are no longer allowed to be without bodies unless they are also wearing their head cap, to prevent them from becoming toys. Long story short, based on my experience I don't think a Volks faceup would be hurt by the hair dryer. I would only worry about heat if there was a custom faceup using sealant and gloss.
