Living in the country in CA

Recommended Posts

In California, I would walk around town and take pictures of my doll outside or love to meet up with other dollfie dream/smart doll collecters, however, I live in the countryside of California, where there is little to no people who collects Dollfie dreams or smart dolls, I basically have to hide my hobby because I'm afraid to get picked on or teased by other people or other high schoolers. It's a pain to have, but I live by my hobby.

If you're concerned about high schoolers I assume you are still in high school? High school is a pretty stressful environment, I found that once I graduated there's a lot less pressure and you stop caring as much about what others think of you. If a stranger were to see you with a doll most of them will just glance at what you're doing and continue on without bothering you. Maybe you'll feel more comfortable with your hobbies as you get older.

If you go to college, you're going to find people who'll like a lot of the same things you do. I promise! I was an advisor at a very big university for 28 years, and before that, of course, as a student. I felt like a freak at high school. I was blissfully happy at college. Just don't major in business. 😉

I agree with the others people as you get older you'll be more comfortable with this hobby. I live in San Diego and you would think there's a lot of collectors that would meetup there. HA! No, I have to travel to Los Angeles for these sort of meetups. Maybe you could get your folks to drive you?

Man do I feel this! I live in Texas. In a very conservative and country part of the north Dallas area...there is NOONE in my neck of the woods that collects these dolls and then takes them out in public...Now, more in the Dallas area, there are some members, but I am new to this area and do not know anyone to connect with, and now COVID-19 has prevented me from going to any Cons in the area, so I feel your pain! I am at a large university in the area, but there is really nobody I know that collects these at my school. Hard to connect to people when all they are concerned about is social media and what not lol
