UnderOrange Posted March 2, 2020 Decided to try making eyes with glass cabochons. Surprisingly it worked?! First I had to figure out iris size. Please excuse the messy background, lol. Then I moved onto figuring out materials. Turns out the combo of inkjet ink, printer paper, and mod podge is especially tragic, lol. The photo paper faired better but I didn't like the glue bubbles and it took eons to dry. So, order UV resin and wait two days. Woo! Proof of concept! Next up, fiddling with printer settings and redraw everything at three times the resolution because yikes them pixels. Aaah, there we go. Much better. Hmm. I think I'll move those little eye shines back to their original position and try to brighten up the high res version. Then make every color I can think of. It's fun when experiments work out!
KatMage Posted March 19, 2020 These are awesome! Are the red ones in the doll made with uv resin? Or just the blue ones? Did you make the final domes out of uv resin, or is that the cab using the resin as a "glue"? These are super cool tho, nice job!
Riesz Posted March 19, 2020 Amazing!! I've been dying to try making some eyes but it feels a bit daunting. Would you mind sharing your eye template to print out 20-22 mm eyes?
Chiakisenpai Posted April 26, 2020 Wow this is awesome! I've been wondering how people make their own eyes and these look so good

Katsudon Posted July 12, 2020 Nice 😄 I admit I was a bit disappointed when I ordered some cabochons... couldn't figure out the potential. But now I'm using them to make eyes for tinies. XD These look really cool! And oh no I know that inkjet weepy smudgey pain XD sorry! These are really awesome though :3 nice work!
Moon-to-Starlight Posted August 15, 2020 Oh! Amazing! They look so good!
Poofiemus Posted September 6, 2020 Oh, I see what you did--you got cabs in the full eye diameter and used the paper itself as the sclera! Clever. Might have to give this a try with Viktor--Smart Doll boys have some funky eye requirements and this might be a good workaround. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
