Volks News 87

Volks has posted the Volks News 87 cover on twitter:

Will we get the usual scans later tonight? That is, I don't know the situation in Japan with respect to how/if/when people can obtain the magazine, with Volks stores like Doll Point closed, and whatever other restrictions are in place now.

Here are a few scans already. Kinda disappointed that it's just Sailor Jupiter and Sakura which are next.  (At least it seems so) Was hoping for someone else who hasn't been announced yet. 

Two DDs is the norm though, that doesn’t surprise me at all. There’s also two SDs (Cecile and Williams as part of Best selection) so there’s 4 new dolls which is typical for that early summer Dolpa. Sakura only got announced so early because Sega wanted it announced the day the game came out. 

 It seems like they sent out the original volks news with its original info and dates, as well as a pamphlet with corrected dates and info on the upcoming online Dolpa.

Haven’t seen anything tweets of new outfits yet and my usual go-to guy hasn’t tweeted anything, but I saw a bit about Online Dolpa from this tweet here with two things that are exciting to DD fans:

1) all the new dolls (both the SDs and DDs) are preorder..? I imagine the preorder will only be open for the duration of the day, but if the site crashes they might extend it. I guess that means no after event (which would be weird anyway) but great news for the people dreading a clickwar for Sailor Jupiter!

2) there will be some DD related ‘special project’ with new products being announced during Dolpa. My first thought was that they’re just gonna unveil the licenses for the rest of the years dolls/this year’s preorder project early but ‘special project’ sounds interesting. 

EDIT: oh the info here is even more exciting for me, it was cut off in the first tweet I linked but this one https://twitter.com/linz_torute/status/1254635517615894531?s=21 shows that the dolls and outfits aren’t going up on the same day. 

Im glad because the site would die lol. New dolls can be preordered July 6th, outfit sale starts June 20th. (Auction and what looks like rerelease of some YoMidis on the 13th?) so it’s a 3 week dolpa lol.

I’m a lot more hopeful about this online event now, staggering it over 3 weeks was a really good idea. Having to wait until June 20 to buy clothes is tough but also probably for the best if it means the slim chance the postal situation will have improved a little by then (please don’t let this post age poorly...)

gonna be on tenterhooks for that special DD announcement on the 6th though, and the ‘dokidoki lottery’ thing.

On their official twitter Volks said the special sites for the new dolls will be up this evening. Hopefully they put the new info for online Dolpa online as well.

Yeah, I know that there are usually two, but I was hoping either Sakura oder Jupiter would be released later and they'd announce smth. more interesting for me instead. 🤣 (Like Venus instead of Sakura)

The later this all happens is potentially better for me, because I won't order from Volks again until they can ship via EMS; I don't trust DHL to get anything to me (or for it to be intact) so I hope for that to happen, or for there to not be anything I want. Otherwise I'll just wait for Volks USA's events.

If those two SDs are both The Best rereleases, that verifies Volks is willing to release more than one doll from a category. They're both SD17B now, but from the voting page it appears that Cecile was previously SD13B; still, those two types were voted on together, and it's the same category as that previous extremely-limited Tyltyl rerelease.

I just hope it really does mean everyone guaranteed to get one. I should have mentioned this first but they used a different word than the one they usually use for preorder (they used 注文販売, literally ‘order sale’ as opposed to 受注生産, or ‘build-to-order manufacturing’) which has got quite a few people on jp twitter confused, asking what the difference is and if it’s ok to assume it’s the same as the latter. (I think it’s mostly people hardly daring to hope they can get Cecile that easily lol) I kinda wondered if I should say anything yet just in case but I hope the difference in word choice is just to differentiate it from the usual preorder project dolls (where there is a very lengthy preorder period as opposed to what I’m assuming is a one day preorder period) and doesn’t mean something like that there’s a limited number of preorder slots. But then I don’t know why they’d use that word.... so stay tuned for the websites, hopefully they will be clearer.

On the Dolpa Online 3 Weeks site it says the preorder period is from the 6th to the 12th (of June)

It also says ‘everyone who orders can welcome them’, and on the page with further specifics, that the release date might be changed depending on the amount of orders. So...maybe it is unlimited...? 

I expect the release date will definitely change, or at least be done in waves. (Edit: it does say ‘from’ the 15th so I guess they’ll send out all the ones that were meant to be at actualDolpa yesterday first?)

What I read that as, anyone who orders anything during the 3 weeks will be entered in this lottery and you may win some item that will be included with your order. THe disclaimer at the bottom says you aren't guaranteed to win anything.

I have no idea what such items might be, but I would speculate maybe it's something like those things they have at Dolpa where you can win those DD t-shirts that have some phrase in Japanese on them, or those special lottery-only eyes. Never having been to a dolpa, I'm not sure how those work.

I assumed the items would be stuff like that too. Those are usually in gacha machines at Dolpa, in the gacha capsules and everything. 

I gotta admit the new outfit collection was a pretty big letdown after waiting so long, so I’m not even sure if I’ll bother ordering anything. I was gonna do the order i’d been meaning to with whatever Dolpa stuff I wanted, but I’m more interested in getting Akiba-limited parts (ie the smooth tan bust) and I’m not sure if they’ll still be up June 20th. Better luck in the July collection maybe...? (I’d be relieved under normal circumstances but since I can’t go anywhere right now all I want it retail therapy...)

I only just noticed but there’s no DCoords...? I had been hoping there would be  I always like to see how the Dolpa Dcoord selection are coordinated. But hopefully whatever this DD news is will make up for it. Apparently it’s something that was going to be unveiled at the Dolpa venue but now it’s going to be shown on YouTube. I was trying to think what it could be again and now remembered the proposal/prototype a while back for the joint project between the doll and hobby departments with the Vlockers DD (which was apparently a repainted Towa). No idea if that’s still being considered, I do hope it’s more exciting than that. 

The only outfit stuff I like in this group is the school nurse outfit, the white camisole, and the denim dress. I have the previous version of the school nurse so I'm not sure I want a second but I might for another girl to wear. None of that excites me enough that dealing with a click war may not be worth the hassle, and if EMS isn't reinstated by then I won't for sure. Since it's simpler, I'd do the USA lottery though if I decide I want anything for sure.

I know so little about everything with SDs, and see now something else had confused me. The new SD17B Williams and Captain Cecile do not seem to be officlal "The Best" rereleases as I don't see that logo anywhere. There is another set of six SDs listed as "Dollfie The Best Selection" and to the extent I understand the text, these are very limited remaining older models now being sold via lottery. I'm totally unclear on whether there is just one of each or a few. To add to my confusion, there is also a Captain Cecile in this group, but this version is an SDYo-Midi. There is seemingly only a Japanese version of this page, and it mentions VIP members, so I'm guessing this may only be available to customers in Japan:

The limited lottery rerelease of the other SDs is probably just because they’re all in the Oath of Silver Coin series. No idea how many of each will be available (or if it’s even more than one of each) and so I wouldn’t personally count those as Best Selection rereleases.

Volks has been quite sloppy lately with that, especially after all the website changes and where the outfits don't have collection pages anymore. A number of the recent The Best Selection outfit rereleases just have text in the description on the store that states that, and only if you view the pages in Japanese. I noticed this at random on something because the pages tend to initially come up in Japanese, and then I started looking for it since I've tried to keep track of all the Best rereleases in that list I made.

I think someone posted here that Volks USA labeled the older limited DDs that they sold via lottery at last year's LA Dolpa as The Best as well, so maybe that's all this is.

I was puzzled why the schoolgirl outfit Karin is wearing isn't part of this collection on the webstore. However, both the cardigan and outfit seem to be older items, that I guess they're only showing because they match the mini versions being released now? I've never noticed them do this before. I found the existing ones on the store though the cardigan is sold out lol:

The Doll Point-exclusive stuff is unfortunately not available outside Japan, according to a message at the top of the page for the section when viewed in English, and the rotating banner on the English verison of the site doesn't include that banner unlike the Japanese side.

I guess you can get stuff through a proxy though.

I thought the same thing, and it gives me a feeling like Volks still isn't really committed to doing anything for DDP.

Rats, didn’t realise that. My friend can always get one for me but it would’ve been nice to get it myself. Guess I can just wait for the mini jeans and hope the other stuff I want is still around.

 I certainly do dare to hope that it means a pre-order.  I *NEED* Jupiter in my home.  😉  If so, you can bet your doll family that I will be online at whatever crazy hour of the morning the event goes live on the 6th in order to pay for her order ASAP so I can be in the first group to get her.  I haven't been this giddy over a Volks release since the re-release of Saber Arturia.

Can someone clarify on the event page if "DD new product presentation" means... new doll reveal possibly? Is this the event they would do that?

I suspect the soonest that might have a chance to happen is the pre-order project. 
 

I think there was some speculation that they might reveal promo images for next years lineup, but I suppose it could be new standard dolls too. 
 

I’d love to see them complete the 765 Pro lineup, or release a FF X-2 YRP collaboration. Payne’s outfit would look sweet on a DD.

Miku Reboot rerelease!

They dont always reveal new DD info at Dolpa but now and then they do (ie Sakura Miku and Miku reboot were revealed at a Dolpa before the one they were released at (Sakura's initial announcement was Magical Mirai though). They also have announced upcoming SDs much more frequently (Cindy isnt meant to come out until August dolpa and yet she was announced/unveiled last December).
It really could be anything, but its the 'project' part that has me interested.

Whatever it is isnt being unveiled just as an online treat though, it was apparently intended to be unveiled at the venue.

as for idolmas i dont even go here but i want to see Anzu or Yumemi as DDs sooo bad;;
