DD Sailor Jupiter

😬 That's....yikes. I've never heard of a wig being constructed like that before, and I wasn't aware that was also the case for Saber's variants. Ridiculous.

Luckily my Jupiter was delivered yesterday and everything was in great shape.  Except....

 

THE GLOVES.

 

Those dang things drove me nuts for a while.  The first one I tried to put on just would not close at the bottom near the elbow.  I tried to stretch and pull it but it wouldn't work.  After like 7 or 8 minutes I stopped and took it off then tried the other hand.  It went right on.  I was like @$#*&^!  Why did that one work?  So I took it off and looked at them side by side and noticed a small flap inside the glove that made that one wider at the base than the one I was having issues with.  After looking at it again there was a small flap on the inside of the glove that was tucked under the side that I didn't see at first.  Pulling that out made it work properly.  😛

 

Mine's wig gave me no issues other than having a bit of wig wax on one side that seemed to be out of place.  But it went on easily and looks good on her I think.  I was excited and in a rush so the only pics I took were cell phone ones.  I'll try and get some better ones this weekend to share of her.  😉

I had a hard time getting the uniform on, getting it over her bust and fully up on her shoulders was much harder on her than it is on the DDS versions.

Congrats on your arrival. How many times did Rei have to recapitate you while you were getting Mako-chan out of the box?

Edit: One big warning. Put DD skin tape on the inside of the tiara. If you don't the gold finish can stain her head. It looks like they deliberately didn't put that stuff on most of the inside, but there is a thin line of it on the inside so I covered it with tape just to be safe.

Can?  More like will.  I put a layer of packing tape on the back of the tiara. Haven’t had a repeat of the Sailor Moon disaster.  This has been a problem with the whole set so far

be careful near the ears, the tiaras tend to stain there too

Two things I've always done with the tiara when they wear them. One is making sure the front doesn't touch their face, and two is tucking the back into the wig above the ears and not on the ears.

 

Person who owned my Sailor Moon DD had staining and they tried to sand it off with a too gritty sandpaper. Result was not pretty nor did it work, but bangs cover her flaw. If I had a full set of any of the scout's uniforms, I don't think I'd have that tiara anywhere near them.

Putting the DD skin protect tape on the back of the tiara has been effective. They usually only wear them for photos, and I've never had a head stain from a tiara with tape on the back.

I have had the enamel coating on the transformation sticks come off on their hands so I usually put skin protect tape on the inside of the hand when they are holding them. It's more to protect the stick from getting ruined than the hand since dream rescue always cleans up the stains on the hands.

Wow, I wonder why the paint is so finicky. Sailor Moon was my first DD and I didn't know anything about the protection tape at the time. I didn't get any of her accessories so it wasn't an issue, but I baby her a bit because she came to me in worse condition than was mentioned. I have a spare bust (Smart Doll) that I use to stain test things long term though I have a pair of DD hands I'll use for stain testing as well. My DDdy Towa I got this month is a much softer vinyl than Sailor Moon.

Thanks I'm going to read through that. Do you perhaps also have a photo of the back side with the hairlump? 😬 Your styling looks very good! I don't have a lot of problems with the bangs but the tail is indeed quite messy. Thinking if maybe I should tackle that too since the tail is loose now anyway 🤷‍♀️

 

Also I found it hard to put the wig on. I did have a protective headcap under it but that shouldn't be that big of a problem right? It almost fell as if the wig was almost a bit too small and there isn't any stretch in it either to make it easier.

With the blue bob wig she could be Ami's sister right now LOL but I think brown suits her a lot more so I do want to try and see if I can fix her wig while waiting for Volks to respond

Thank you! I don't have the stump gathered right now, so it's just kind of sticking up all over the place LOL. I haven't tried putting it back together yet since I want to be sure I'm satisfied with the bangs first.

I totally forgot how awesome those two look in their normal outfits. Haruka's Senshi boots would be amazing too if they did them right.

Yeah I have to admit that looks so much more like her hair. I do kind of like her ponytail as is though. I don't mind it being a bit more stylish, but I may come to regret that as it ages and gets more loose strands. Your style looks easier to maintain.

Probably, been meaning to fix that but never get around to it...  I think Sailor Jupiter is probably going to be high maintenance.

Jupiter is back up for sale and I finally managed to snag one. ^_^

She is! I really want one but I already have a custom Makoto😐 I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE SOLD ONCE THEN BYE BYE! BUT no. $%^&*^%$. 

I really want her.

She is so freaking cute and since I'm only 12 I can't buy her myself cuz for obvious reasons. I'M SAD! And my DD's torso sorta broke and it's holding together with elastic...

Hey, just wondering, for anyone else who got Jupiter, did you have any thin areas on the wig? I've gotten wigs with imperfect coverage, which doesn't really bother me, but this is the first time I've seen it like this? It's at the bottom of the wig, so I suppose it's mostly covered by the ponytail, but I've never seen such a thin area. Is it worth contacting volks, or should I just leave it? Any suggestions to fix it? Thank you!!

It is thin on mine as well, but not that bad. I hadn't even noticed it until I saw your photos and looked for it.

For anyone wondering about my wig shenanigans: Volks told me to send additional info to another mail adres (the department in charge) with photo's. They will then decide what they will do but they said it may take a while. So I also ordered some brown wigs online incase this takes a long time 😅 With the blue wig she is atleast not bald but I don't think it suits her LOL 😂
