DD Sailor Jupiter

Please ignore everything I said. CFX probably is right. Since i received an email from a DD shop I expected right information. But apparently it’s not like that. Also I’m sorry if I offended anyone. Also I’ve been receiving a lot of notifications about this topic and I didn’t check them all, so I’m sorry if I was wrong about you all not knowing what’s going on. I should’ve read all of them. I’m terribly sorry for spreading mis information.

@Ohana: It is fine, I'm sure you were just passing on what you've been told. We have a number of people stressing over whether they can get this doll, so I don't want to see misinformation adding to that, or worse, skipping the event entirely because they think they can't get her at all.

The friend shop that told you she is lottery and unavailable outside Japan is not to be trusted, and I personally would never do with business with someone who is being that dishonest.

So to again summarize what the deal with Jupiter is:

  • She is a short-term preorder, everyone who wants her can get her
  • Volks USA is not offering her; likely a licensing issue, but we don't know that
  • Volks International will sell her to customers in the US, and anywhere else worldwide that they serve otherwise
  • Order period is from 06/06/2020 until 06/12/2020 @ 23:PM, Japan time
  • Payment is credit card only, no Paypal
  • Delivery starts on 06/15/2020

I think that's the relevant points. That delivery date suggests this is being handled like Luka (or was it Matoi? someone anyway) where they have prepared a certain number of dolls, but if there are more orders than what they already made, it will take longer for some people to get theirs, presumably.

I think these two points in conjunction are really what people need to remember if they order. You're going to pre-pay for a doll that may take a year to ship, and while Volks is pretty good at meeting ship dates, they can't bend the laws of reality to do so. I notice that they don't list an alternate ship date on the event site, and they do include a disclaimer to the effect of "we reserve the right to act as we need to if a change in the event becomes necessary."

I'm not trying to be discouraging here, I'm just saying walk into the purchase with open eyes. Like everyone else I hope I am in the June 15th 2020 batch, but at the end of the day I will be happy with the result of getting her directly from Volks without an aftermarket markup, even if it ends up being June of 2021.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Absolutely, it's best to be prepared.

What I assume Volks has done is take into account how the other three Sailor Moon dolls sold and has some idea how this will go. Hopefully not adding further confusion here, but the Volks USA page for Sakura and the SD17s is better written since it isn't machine translated:

https://volksusastore.com/webstores/event/index.php?dispatch=pages.view&page_id=90

Shipment dates are different, so don't get confused reading that, but I noticed the bit about how it might take "a few days" to ship out all orders, along of course with the disclaimer that things can change.

I'm sure most everyone who wants her will agree that having to possibly wait quite a while is preferable to not being able to get her because it was instead a clickwar where she sold out in <30 minutes as how Ranko and Arle went.

So it's probably still best to get orders in early in order to get her sooner.

Oh I totally agree. It's just that I doubt you will be able to tell up front which group you are in, so you need to be prepared to get a notice putting your delivery at date in the future. If someone isn't ok with that, then maybe this isn't the best event for them.

I contacted Volks. jp about my question regarding DD Sailor Jupiter and her school uniform and if they can be shipped together, they replied to me.

> Your inquiry> ( my question )
> I have a question for Dollfie Dream Sailor Jupiter.
> Can I combine shipping Dollfie Dream Sailor Jupiter + Previous School Uniform Set for Makoto Kino together?
> Or do I have to order them separately and pay shipping for each item?

 Thank you.

Their answer:

 '' Dear customer,

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

Cannot be shipped with another item.
In addition, shipping fee is required for each order.

Your kind understanding is highly appreciated.

Sincerely,

*Since we are using translation fanction so that we can respond promptly, my sentences might be strange.
Please excuse my poor English. ''

Look like a debacle waiting to happen.  Seems their site is well known for being picky which cards it will work with.  Any one know if American Wells Fargo Debit cards work?  Rather not transfer money from PayPal only for it to not work and then transfer it back to pay a reseller.

I don't know if Volks support debit cards, and the site is currently undergoing maintenance so I can't check. If it's not a Visa or MasterCard branded debit card but just a bank one, it absolutely won't work.

Other than that, if the card doesn't support 3D Secure (Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode) it is unlikely to work. I believe that's the issue in general that people run into, as few cards in the US seem to support this, though it's more common in other countries according to what I could find out when I researched this.

Mine has the Visa logo on it.  Still trying to figure out if 3d Secure is usable with it.  Wells Fargo seems rather muddy about it at best.

I had to get a different one since the one I already had doesn't support the 3d secure. Got a visa one and did a test run this weekend ordering some dollpoint items. With the 3d Secure I have an app that gives me either a code or just asks me to authorize the payment. It went through so hopefully no problems with ordering Jupiter. My other card that does not support 3d Secure is btw a mastercard but it is my bank that doesn't have the right secure system. So that's another different problem 😅

Yeah this is common too. If you read the sites for 3D Secure they'll claim the logo will be on your card issuer site if it is supported. I've found that to not be the case at all. I have a card that works, but the fact it supports 3D Secure seems to be a secret.

From there:

Quote

Visa Secure is a service offered by Visa and Wells Fargo to help protect cardholders against unauthorized online purchases. Each transaction is evaluated by the service and in some cases, you will be asked to enter a one-time passcode to complete the transaction.

This is exactly how my card works. For most transactions I don't see anything special at all, but for transactions over a certain amount, I receive a text message with a code, basically like two-factor authentication. Unlike information you may read in some places, I didn't have to activate this service or sign up for anything, it was just there.

Your card should work on Volks based on this information.

Hopefully...  Volks USA has been rather disappointing on this, people shouldn’t have to ask them what is going on.  Worse they are completely ignorant of the fact that 3D Secure is going to be a major problem for people who actually do try to order.  This is precisely why I use PayPal when buying internationally, may sometimes cost more but  at least it prevents these uniquely American problems. I still see a lot of swipe only cards at work because of the way things are done

Note, as discussed earlier in this thread, you will not be able to buy Jupiter from Volks USA; only international will have her.

Anyway, I'm not sure Volks USA requires 3D Secure, and they accept Paypal, at least some of the time.

I don't really pay attention to who does or doesn't take Paypal since I've had too many problems with them, don't trust them, and refuse to use them anymore.

Wouldn’t know either, only time I ordered from Volks USA was for Sailor Mars and Mercury, paid PayPal there and picked up since they were barely 10 miles from work.  Otherwise I’ve been buying at Anime Expo. Still kicking myself over the School Uniform Sets that I missed out on.

I don't understand your last post so I'm not sure what we are talking about anymore.

As you brought up Volks USA in the previous post, I was just making sure you understand that Jupiter isn't being offered via them; only via Volks Japan and everything I said about credit cards is only in reference to Volks Japan. The event is for 6 days and you are guaranteed to get a doll so if your card doesn't work you have time for other options. Both Japan and USA are doing the event at the same time and the rest of the dolls will be available on both sites.

I just feel like Volks USA should should have been a little more upfront letting people know they wouldn’t be having Sailor Jupiter.  Volks japan should have seen this being an issue. Unfortunately if my card doesn’t work the other option is to pay out the nose for one on eBay or skip this one.

For those who are interested in GL membership, paying the ¥500 fee is one way to test out whether or not your card works on their website.

@Tokimemofan: I understand now, but that's not really how Volks has ever operated I think. Volks USA doesn't really advertise for the Japan office that way. And if there had been advance warning, what would it have changed really?

Oh, that's a great idea.

For myself I don't know whether to join yet. Will EMS shipping return during the next year so I can use the membership? I hope this doesn't go on that long, but at this point I have no idea.

If it were me in your circumstance I would wait.

As far as EMS, I think it will return if only because, even if the lockdowns continue, at some point nations will have to get the mail flowing again.

My order from March still hasn't budged though.

Good point. I think it will have to come back at some point too, but no point in wasting part of the membership while I can't use it.

In one of CDJapan's FAQs, there is a question about when Japan Post mail might return. They don't have an answer of course, but mention they expect SAL to be gone for a very long time. After reading that I realized they are probably right, which is going to affect me buying from places that aren't Volks since I usually don't pay for EMS if I don't have too. That will make ordering something like a single outfit from Mandarake be more expensive to a point unless it's something I really want badly, I probably won't order.

Just noticed this. Ebay is like the last place anyone should go to for DDs. Mandarake or Yahoo Japan auctions will be cheaper and not potential scammers. Mandarake takes Paypal, and most YJ proxies do too; some only take that.
