MDD Mochi-Ashi

....... 😭 Whyyyyy do they have to be Dream Choice exclusive?? The heads I can more understand, but a new body type being exclusive is just so unfair. :<

How do you know which make-up is 01 and which is 03 for DCH-21? And where have you seen "M-01"? I'm totally lost, 2 differents make-up are labelled the same:

And, anyone have any info on that girl from when Mochi-Ashi body was presented? I don't recognize the head! I thought she would be either 19 or 21 but I have no clue.

DDP was Dream Choice / Limited doll exclusive for awhile after it was released. They won't necessarily stay that way, but we'll have to see. I would be a bit more worried about it being an Osaka exclusive option, because that might make it more like tan dolls and not like DDP was handled.

I still think this body is ideal for a Chibi-Usa release, so we'll see what happens in the future.

@Nyx Whitestar It was a typo, relax. This is what happens when I read a post after just getting out of bed. Anyways, two M-03s is indeed odd and likely an error by Volks staff. Not a huge deal imo. 🤷‍♀️ Anyways, that doll in the maid outfit could possibly be a limited D'Coord head like DCH-18, which would explain why she hasn't been shown as part of the current readily available Dream Choice lineup.

I think too it's an error the info sheet is the same for the 2 and it should not be, I just thought only the first one has Type T eyes so she is the correct one which is M-03. So we still don't know which make-up is the other.

Does anyone remember the timeframe length between the release of DDP and it being added to the base body list?

I’ll probably end up just getting a 19 on the mochi ashi body and giving the body to Arle. 

Also do we have any info on whether or not the elf ears parts are buyable in multiples in different colors at the same time like buying tan skin parts or do we have to get them one pair at a time in the color the doll we’re getting?

Maybe around a year. The first DDP were delivered in late 2017, and I think they became available as an option body around the time the Fate pre-orders shipped in late 2018.

I checked my emails to confirm, and I ordered a DDP body in parts on 10/21/2018 from Volks Int when they were first released, because the fully assembled body had instantly sold out. So my data agrees with this.

@Subaru Ah, yeah, when I say unobtainable, for me that translates to "not affordable". Japan Doll Direct charges $720 USD for their MDD-sized Dream Choice, and that's before their convenience fee and shipping, never mind any extras like hands, wrist joints, and clothes. It'd take me over a year to save up for that and by then I'm not sure I would even want a Mochi-Ashi DCH-19 anymore. 😭

oh my god these bodies are so cute. they really look like chili characters/cute little babies in general. the DCH-19 head looks cute too.

so sorry if this came up before and missed it... but is this body basically named the Japanese equivalent of saying cutey dumplin'?  mochi are always so cute and squishy....

@Chise No, but I really hope that isn't the case. Definitely not a naming theme I would like, personally.

I believe that "ashi" means leg, referring to the fact they have chubbier legs... So I guess the english equivalent to "mochi-ashi" would be "dumpling legs".

The machine translation on the Volks blog would have us believe that it means "MDD Rice Cake Foot." I have to say that this is what Mochi Ashi will mean to me forever more.

I'm definitely not into MDDs AT ALL but these chubby legs are sooo cute. I wanted a Puyoo doll, but if I'll choose vinyl over resin any day. I might get one in Semi-white since I don't have that skin tone

Their chubby little legs are so cute! I've never seriously thought about acquiring an MDD before but if this body becomes a standard option I might have to spring for it... more dolly body diversity please! 🤩

The issue there has always been clothing, and I think for a body type to have a good range of clothing options from Volks you need a body of the same basic type in the SD line. That's where most of their clothing lines are targeted. The big exception being the Tenshi no Koromo line which is DD specific.

You also have a problem with a lot of third party clothing makers making clothing for the SD lines and not DD lines so atypical bodies like DDP aren't covered in their line ups.

Those new heads are adorable! I'm even more excited for this body now. Hopefully they'll get released as a standard in due time, for now it's time to save up some cash for one! (Unless you know...the preorder this year happens to be chibiusa with that as her base body and I might spring on that if she's cute enough)

The private twitter photo has the same label shown for the real green eyes tan, so the photo may be done with the incorrect label. Also, the private twitter account photo was taken in friday when they were still setting the Okasa inauguration as the desk is super empty. They used the same label.

The chubby legs are adorable, I wish they gave all bodies that option. I wouldn't mind a DDP with a pear shaped body, for example.

I like these - I don't know if I'd get one, but the legs are really charming. Possibly odd under the clothes if the torso is the same as regular MDD but I don't think that really matters if it's covered by clothing anyway. 

But someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't see Volks say anywhere that this body is Dream Choice exclusive...? Only that Dream Choice at Osaka Doll Point is the 'first place in the world' where you can get it. (So not even the 'main' Doll Point in Akiba yet). If they really are Dream Choice exclusive though (at least for now) I hope that means the boy bodies are closer to being sold on their own...

this thread states that:

- larger hands come with the mochi-ashi body by default 

- it seems like their feet are SD-sized

- it seems like if you want mochi-ashi as soon as possible, you would do dream choice. nothing about it being dch exclusive.

- however, mochi-ashi's official debut seemed to be more about dream choice than anything, so who knows

@michinyan So the Mochi-Ashi does have SD-sized feet after all. Welp, massive hole in my wallet, here I come. Can't wait to start buying gorgeous SD-sized shoes for my future DCH-19. The bit about the deka hands is interesting, though. I've never seen them in person, so I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

I really think that is a rumor, and it's a rumor that doesn't remotely fit the images we've seen of Mochi-Ashi. What I think happened is that someone said SD meaning Volks Resin Doll, and not SD as in the specific model of Volks 1/3 Resin dolls called Super Dollfie.

Here is my DDP Yayoi, who fits MSD sized shoes, wearing SD sized shoes.

If you look at the Mochi-Ashi image here, there is just no way those are DD sized feet on an MDD sized body. The feet would be enormous compared to the dolls body, and it would look absurd.
