Shrinking DD/DDy lower torso to fit MDD

Hi everyone!

I plan on getting a MDD with mochi ashi body in the near future and I'm trying to think of a way to fill her out in the hips. For those who don't know, mochi ashi has chubby legs and larger hands and feet but shares the same torso, arms and bust as a regular MDD.

Has anyone tried shrinking a DD/DDy lower torso to fit MDD successfully? I've never shrank any vinyl parts before so I'm hesitant to try it.

Edit: For anyone who is searching for wider hips for MDD like I am -- I also have 2 alternative solutions, (1) buying Obitsu 50cm lower torso (the hip measurement is 2 cm bigger than MDD, according to some users OB50 parts will fit but I've never tried it) and (2) sewing padded underwear which will work under clothes.

Never mind, I found a simple solution!!! DDP waist/torso part fits, and is nearly 3cm bigger at the hips than the regular MDD part! It looks amazing in my opinion!

 

 

I was just gonna coment when i saw you found a solution. However ill tell it annyway lol

I know people who customize fashion dolls (Monster high and ever after high mainly) sometimes shrink the heads by putting it in a jar of acetone, letting it sit for a few hours (i think some even did 24h?) wich makes the head expand alot and then after taking it out and letting it dry it shrinks alot. It would be cool to see somebody try this on a DD

MDD outfits that list DDP as a fit should work perfectly with this setup, but you’ll need to avoid the ones with pants. This may be why Volks didn’t change the lower torso. 

I know that MDD busts are too small for DDP bodies, so if you do this mod, You'll have MDD Moshi legs with a DDP upper body right? Unless you can mod the DDP body to fit MDD busts. I feel like the proportions would be off since DDPs have longer legs than MDDs...

 

Keep in mind that MochiAshi legs are even shorter than MDD legs, the ratio might be off with DDP torso

I believe the twitter post mentioned about cutting the DDP (lower) torso to match the length of a MDD torso. So just like modifying a regular DD M/L bust to fit a DDdy, you will have to measure before attempting such mod. So it can be done, but you will have to take some risks to make adjustments.

I'm pretty sure DDPs share the same busts as MDDs; it should look ok since DDPs are mostly wider and that fits with the wider hips of the Mochi Ashi. Yeah, it does have to be cut down to fit.

They don't unfortunately. I've asked a few people in the discord and they said the MDD bust was too small to fit.

I vaguely recall Volks publishing a fit guide that showed MDD busts as compatible with DDP, but the fit was listed as conditional.

This is the one I have. While it says that is can't, I'm sure you can mod them. Just like modding DD bust to fit DDdy

You're right, that's the exact page I was thinking of so I clearly misremembered it.

Funny thing I discovered today, Volks USA lists DDP with all four busts under the clothing search in spite of there only being an S bust at the moment. I can't recall if that was there in the past, but if not then it's possible that SS, M, and L are in the works for DDP.

Hopefully, I know a lot of people who want larger busts for them. I still think the MDD legs would look weird on the DDP even with larger busts. It might balance out the curviness, but I feel it would be strangely short

I have mixed feelings about the Mochi-Ashi design choice. I can sort of understand how Volks might want to handle them like they do DD & DDS, with a shared set of outfits, and using a wider lower torso would prevent that. At the same time it looks pretty strange.

I suppose they really expect that people will be dressing them in outfits and the difference between the legs and hips won't be noticed under normal use.

Yeah skirts, dresses and loose fitting pants/shorts would solve the weird look. It definitely explains why they weren't wearing tight clothes in the promo pictures that first got released

Oh that is interesting! I had a DDP that fit MDD clothes I bought from the Volks site which is why I thought it was the same.

I know this is old, but in case anyone else was doing MDD/DDP hybrid research like me, another member did a great tutorial! 

 

I have a mochashi with a DDP tosro and MDD large bust. The MDD bust is snug on DDP torso but it does fit. I didnt do any modding to the vinyl itself.

Just wrap the mdd chest connector with making tape so it fits snugly in the ddp hip piece. The ddp torso didn't add any height when the pieces we're connected fully. ( On the right is a regular mochiashi).
