1/6 scale vinyl TinyFox Dolls!

I just found out that the 1/4 bodies actually have a hidden double joint in the knee just like the elbows???? Recessed in the thigh there's a cap you can pull out and it extends the joint to bend further! I don't know if they could stand with the joint extended though

I detailed the "second joints" (not sure what else to call them) quite a few pages back. I thought I had broke my doll when I found them haha~

 

Tinyfox Lee appeared on Mandarake yesterday, and I managed to snag her!

I'm not normally too into this line of dolls (most are too cute and not my style), but I've always regretted not getting Lee. I'm excited to see her once she arrives! She'll be besties with my Kukaka blindbox insects, I can already tell.

They finally made a 1/6 boy.

 

@Janeway ? He’s at least the third 1/6 boy - Lilith and Nomi are explicitly said to be boys, and there are others that don’t have a stated gender so could go either way. Since the body itself is genderless they just all use the same one. 
It’s 1/4 boys they haven’t done yet.

I was readying for Mokoi's preorder as soon I saw him posted to Tinyfox's official accounts. The ears aren't part of the default fullset if you're buying him direct from Taobao, although I'm not a big fan of the ears so that's fine. They seem a little out of place on his design, kind of wished they went for full fabric ears like they did for for everyone else. I thought he was a fox until I took a better look at his description. He's a cat. He's able to be ordered in pink or white skin tone, and if you get him in white, he'll have the new neck tab.
I think he'll pair really well with Lilith since they're both purple/black and Halloween-ish.

@Amapola it looks like Jane's has the option to add the ears in her preorder! It bumps up the price but I feel it's worth it personally, I like molded ears for durability.

I'm so glad pink finally came back as a skin option! I've been hoping for that since my Lilith has been the odd man out in a sea of pasty cuties haha 

After some muss and fuss, I guess I can finally introduce my Accidental Brothers ╮(  T ◡T)╭.  Despite my best efforts to keep Arlo safe from stains, it was not clothes that did him in but the stain on my etagere where his unsocked thigh barely touched it overnight.  And because they aren't vinyl, traditional treatments don't work.  Still, it was only a few lil spots that just kinda looked like freckling, but it made me think that I should try and hunt down an extra 1/4 slim body since they seem to be phasing out and I could just swap parts to get Arlo some fresh legs again. 

I found a Li Chun/Koi Chun for a good price and figured I could harvest those legs, but then I fell in love with the face!  I didn't know where I was gonna go with it, but I figured I could swap the legs and the Li Chun could wait in the wings.  But then I loved them so much when I saw them I was like, "well I still need a back up and fresh legs now so..." - aaaaaaaand then I brought home a Lizzy, fully convinced the eye makeup placement would bug me and I could just sell the head on.  Yeah, that didn't work either, because once I had the head I went, "wait, wouldn't they make super cute siblings??"

Ta-daaaa: Wren (curly) and Clary (straight).  They are both shucks/hell-hounds, but they're retired now so it's fine.  They have snazzy matching shoes and are very loyal to Arlo.

I was so sure I wouldn't use any default wigs, so at first I didn't even bother unpacking Clary's and ordered a pair of black 8-9 wigs (because Arlo's noggin has that size).  Got the wigs in the mail and they're TOO BIG.  Crap.  Back to the drawing board, bought a pair of 7-8 white wigs with different accent colors instead because I thought they'd look nicer, felt pretty good! Those didn't fit either, they were too small by what felt like a fraction of a measurement.  So I ended up using default wigs anyway, which are apparently some mystical size that DOES fit, and somehow spent 2 hours doing minor trimming adjustments between the two to even out bangs and clean up the ends (well, Clary's wig also got a hime cut).  I'm still debating if I want to cut Clary's wig shorter overall, but Wren is keeping the length on his.

What's that?? Did I hear you say, "wait - isn't that Yi's default wig and not Lizzy's?"

...╮(  T ◡T)╭ well...let's just say Arlo got Clary's legs, Clary got Wren's, Wren somehow got Arlo's because the marks weirdly suited his vibe, and the goal was to have an emergency body so...

I just ordered my first Tinyfox cutie from Kikagoods. I'm so excited to get her home. I already have a yods doll room for her and I suspect she'll be really fun to photograph. I got the little fox girl artist.

I spread my clothing shopping around a bit - AliExpress is good for getting inexpensive wardrobe basics and shoes (and cuts out the work of using a taobao proxy for a lot of stuff, though I have also shopped Taobao for outfits). Brand sites are great for nice full sets and nicer pieces (Volks/Chicabi/Luts/etc). BOOTH has a lot of great accessories and outfits, but you can miss out on things from popular sellers if your proxy is slower. I also do a lot of browsing on second hand markets like Yahoo Auctions/Flea and Mandarake or Dollyteria!

I keep a document on my phone with the measurements for popular 1/6 and 1/4 doll makers so that it's easy to check if certain things will fit or not~

My Fluffy - Drosera, aka Dewey - arrived today~ and after quite a bit of fussing around, here they are:

I actually had a lot of mixed feelings with them: I was really excited for them because they look so cute and I was excited for the Macoco body, but when I actually handled them...ehhhh...I usually connect with my dolls very quickly and have a good feel for them, but I was really struggling with Drosera and I still kind of am.

Macoco Body Pros (imo): a solid solo stander, needed no extra assistance holding a suitcase! The light weight of the body probably helps with that.  Easy to manipulate, good range of motion in the arms and legs for cute poses, though the arms have a bit of a cupcake-toddlers-in-tiaras position in neutral vs a true dropped arm.  It's very easy to swap the chonk legs to the "slim" legs.  The silhouette is so cute and I seriously love that part of it!

Macoco Body Cons (imo): Feels suuuuuuper cheap compared to the 1/6 and slim 1/4 bodies. Head has a pretty limited range of motion, as does the chest joint (it honestly may as well not be there).  Hand connection is a very thin peg and I foresee it being a snap-risk if you aren't careful removing hands (one popped out entirely when I was swapping hands).

Overall Macoco Impressions: I honestly think that in terms of quality, this is Tinyfox's poorest body and they did themselves so dirty with it - it lacks the heft and "solidity" of the other bodies, and sounds like a creaky hollow canyon.  I'm not even fussed about the loss of the velvet coating, the plastic itself just feels like a massive downgrade for a line that is not advertised for a cost effective nature lol.  This body could have been such a knock out with a sturdier build!  I was personally bummed to see how thin the torso was - the slim 1/4 chests are very solid and have a lot of material, but the Macoco is practically a sheet of paper.  I'm only salty because I had wanted to sand down the lil bit'o'boob juuust a bit for a more boyish chest, but there's no way to do that here. ╮(◞︿◟)╭ Oh well, Dewey was gonna be a feminine boy anyway due to the body, what's a lil bit of tiddy I guess haha.

Fluffy Specific Info: The fullset clothing has some frustrating bits, so just prepare for that.  The blouse is very tight, so requires a bit of wiggling in the back.  For ease of wearing the vest, put it on as is without the head attached - the pearls on the back are a huge pain to undo and redo because the loops are not elastic.  I accidentally snapped the bottom loop because it was so tight.  The socks for the slim legs are weirdly small in the foot part?  I have the socks doubled up so I expected some resistance, but the actual foot portion required some creative tugging with a pair of tweezers while easing the sock with my fingers.  The overall set is very sweet looking despite its kinks though! [Drosera is wearing a modified outfit here, I added some pieces and didn't use others, your Fluffy isn't missing pieces~]

I think my reservations on the body are coloring how I view Dewey right now, along with not being 100% on presentation; I don't have a full grasp on how I want to style Drosera yet, so I have a few things coming to play around with.  I felt a lot better about them after I hacked about an inch off the wig and thinned it out a smidge, but I might still keep my eyes peeled for a shorter wig (I'm very set on this color and it isn't very easy to find sadly).  I'm not sold on these eyes because they don't feel "right" for him, but I didn't want the defaults so I'm just using a nice pair I had on hand that fit.  As an aside, Dollbot bottoms fit the Macoco body!

Thank you so much for the tips! I usually only look at Aliexpress and Kikagoods, so I'll need to expand my shopping horizons a bit. 😄 (and accept to deal with high shipping fees and customs if I want cute clothes, sigh).

Dewey is the cutest, and the look you gave them fits perfectly with the rest of your doll family! I think you're not the first one to mention that the Macoco body feels of lower quality, which is a shame. I'm sorry you're struggling to connect with them, hopefully that'll change soon! Hope you find the perfect eyes and wig. 😄 Do keep us posted!

I'm sorry Fluffy isn't what you imagined mmmuquet, I find the fullset so cute but I've heard similar things from others that make me leery of buying it.

@HelloBirdie It could be possible! I have a spare 1/4 slim body kicking around and I'm curious about the head compatibility, but I'm going to try hard with Drosera on this body first 💪 I'm feeling a little more soft towards them after some sleep, so I might just need time until they feel "right".

@Ayrell the overseas charges are definitely a bummer, I'm just glad to live where I don't also get charged customs - I've learned to just numb myself to the shipping and proxy costs at this point rofl.  I'll definitely post any major Dewey changes~

@PlasticJester I had read others have similar comments about the body prior too, but I wanted to see for myself since I feel like what some people do or don't like in a build are fairly personal sometimes.  Unfortunately I have to agree with those comments though haha.  I don't think I'll invest in another Macoco after this, but I really do love the sculpt itself; I'm sure I'll eventually find my footing with Dewey, they just need some time and a lil extra love to get there ૮ ◞ ᴥ ◟ ა

@HelloBirdie the one with cat ears is Bishop (Tinyfox Lilith, with ears from Pipos), and the one with the bunny hat is Lariat (a custom 06S head painted by artist Neneko)! 💝
