DDIII Cracks

Eh, I think they're on the right path for an upgrade. But I think it would be better if it was something like a smaller peg with silicone creating the friction. I also think the chest could have a modified internal plate similar to the articulation on some action figures which would keep the frame support. Also, there has to be something wrong with the plastic that causes it to separate and crack like it has been.

 

Unfortunately it would be hard to know based on lists as long as this is.

So, when I finally got my Millhiore there were stains on her. Volks finally got back to me today and said they were going to replace the stained parts.

 

Imagine my surprise when I take her lower torso off and the center peg is split right through the seam line.

 

Luckily this is one of the stained parts, so it's being replaced anyway, but geeze...

 

She arrived with stains? If you don't mind my asking, where were the stains? I thought that the dolls came wrapped in plastic. That's really insane if they did not bother to check the doll for stains before packaging her...

 

I'm glad that they will be sending replacement parts to you. There have been a lot of damage reports about so many of the dolls. I would like to think that Volks is trying to make the body stronger or something. >_<

Isn't this the same part as on the DDII and DDdy bodies that holds the upper and lower torso parts together and lets the top torso spin on the lower half? I may be reading this wrong but if this part is what I think it is, it's supposed to be split down the center. Can you confirm or deny this for me please?

I got a blank option head from VolksUSA that was stained still in the sealed plastic bag. So it certainly does happen. (And yes, they replaced it.)

Good thing they replaced it. That's just crazy (for lack of a better word, lol). When I think about how much money these dolls and items cost, I always want to think that the company would do everything possible to make sure that it is in perfect condition when it's shipped out. Maybe they just overlook things sometimes. But it's good that they replaced it for you.

 

After reading the other posts, I think that they aren't doing enough though... Everyone who provided pictures of broken parts should have their item replaced. Especially with these DDIII bodies, even if it is outside of the 2 week limit. It is quite apparent that there is some sort of fault with the design, plastic, or both... They need to replace everyone's items.

Really? No you're describing the right part. It looked like a split though since there are mold marks. If it is supposed to be like that then I was wrong.

 

It still is crazy looking.

Maybe can list whether is from Volks USA/JP, the affected part and how long since the doll is received?

i think they also know that such things will happen and hold back on selling the torso internal frame now on their international site.

 

Personally I still haven't check anything below the torso as the legs are still holding firmly and I still not confident in taking the leg apart from the hip joint.

In my case, I bought my Moe from someone else, so I doubt that Volks will consider my claim.

that is so unfortunate, just hope they start selling replacement part and hope there is more methods for us to strengthen and repair those problem.

Cracked again after i try put the peg in, anyone try using the epoxy when the peg is inserted?

 

Decide to sand the pop out groove a bit to made it easier to insert into the joint.

Do that to my Haruka also.

 

Seem like a bit of improvement judging by the cracks, or maybe just my eyes.

Tie straps are very strong yet elastic. Epoxy may work, too, but it's hard and the plastic may break in another place.

I'd use epoxy only as an addition, to strengthen the whole thing.

Looks like the engineers think alike. We debated an epoxy reinforcement to the tie-strap, and we can definitely do it if requested.

 

initial: it might be time to mail some of your body parts over here ^^;

i saw ppl use pvc pipes and copper ring etc but either the tools required too difficult to find or harder than PlasticFantastic method.

 

PlasticFantastic: I still asking my friend on the drilling part. Anyway, i also waiting for a spare DD2 body, maybe after that arrived if i still didn't manage to get my friend's help then i probably will send the cracked and spare frame over.

 

I end up sanding the pegs of my new girl, Haruka also. Just made it easier to insert into the joint as i rmb i need to apply more pressure to insert the peg of Extra back as compare to Alter which result Extra gotten the crack while Alter did not (& better don't!)

I think the pegs are just too big for the holes. With my Moe, until I sanded them down, the rings just kept breaking.

 

Poor design, poor quality control, or both?

So, I'm going to take pictures of Millhiore's joints when I get home. Because, I'm fairly sure they look different than the standard DDS/DDIII/DDdyIII ones and Mariko's.

 

I don't remember the arm joints being bumpy for one thing, and the socket looked wider than Alter's but still thick.

 

But then I may be misremembering.

Oh, no! This really is a major issue with the DDIII body, isn't it? Mina's right arm hole split too. I super-glued it together as a quick fix, and it seems to be holding for now. I'll be reinforcing the hold with two-part epoxy, when I find some clear epoxy. Right now, all I have is black epoxy, and I don't really want black gunk all over it.

 

That sucks; they pose better, but they're more prone to breaking. Oh, Volks...

And yes, it's perfectly normal to have a wall lined with bookcases full of different types of yarn (shifty eyes).

That's a clean break at least, you could epoxy that back together a lot more easily...

 

This is really making me itch to dissect some of my girls tonight (a bunch need Kimono/yukata to be put on cos it's spring)

Man, I've been thinking about removing Aoi 2nd's arms and sanding them, but I'm worried that I'll break the joints in doing so...

DDS body is prone to the same. My Akira has suffered the exact same fate. Pics look exactly like my girl.

 

The pegs are too large for the holes and they just snap. I picked Asami (Akira) up and her arm just fell off.

 

Volks refuses any help even though it is an obvious design flaw or defect. I don't understand it at all.

 

I an afraid of my incoming dolls now and scared to even touch my Moe or new Yukino.

Misskale, you and I have the same DDS body. My Mamimi looks just like your photos. I was able to repair her tho and so far she's been fine.
