rukitron Posted May 27, 2012 I feel uneasy every time people post about DDIII screwing up. Know anyone or any place that will buy at a good price? I really don't want to deal with ebay. I mean I could even trade for stuff if needed. ><'

Alphakitty Posted May 27, 2012 Pretty much any DD body is going to sell really fast. I've never seen one sit around for more than a few days unless it was seriously damaged, and if it's brand-new never been used it's pretty much a guaranteed sell if your pricing is reasonable. Nehelenia Posted May 27, 2012 (edited) It look them about a year to start selling DDS body parts. Lets see when they will start selling DD III :S Maybe I'll be able to get one then. Guess until then they might have fixed the cracking issue Edited May 27, 2012 by Guest
gaiaswill Posted May 27, 2012 Well, despite my misgivings, I most likely will stay with the III's. I get what they were trying to achieve with them and it's not in my nature to avoid moving forward. It's just that "forward" could just mean much fewer dolls. XD (I guess that's not quite so bad either...)
RaveOfNightmares Posted May 28, 2012 I spoke previously of the changes that Volks made with the DyIII body's joints, I just took some pictures of them to post up here. Ever since Haruka showed up with the DyIII body (and had it immediately taken for use by Mio), I've had no issues with the joints. First up is the groove in the shoulder pegs: Of Note: The shoulder sockets are not changed, the grooves seem to solve the cracking issue on their own: Hip peg groove: DyIII Hip socket on the left. Cracked DDS hip socket on the right, notice the difference in socket thickness while the hole is the same: Based on these observations, I started the repair process on Momo's shoulders and hips, all of which are cracked... So far I've fixed one shoulder socket and carved grooves into both shoulder posts: And carved the grooves into the hip posts: I know my repairs aren't as pretty as some, but they're functional and that's what matters. The grooves on their own seem to help out quite a bit as they prevent excess pressure from building up during movement of the joints, even with environmental effects such as temperature and humidity. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future. Tieren Posted May 28, 2012 Hmmm I can see the grooves being a much better solution than sanding the pegs down.
mitsuki Posted May 29, 2012 That is great information, RaveOfNightmares. Thank you! It looks like they are really trying to solve the issues with the new body types.
sarynkitamo Posted May 30, 2012 My Yukino arrived today and I immediately disassembled her to check for cracks, based on this thread. She's crack-free, but I will be keeping a close eye on her! Flickr -- LiveJournal
Tieren Posted May 30, 2012 RaveOfNightmares, can you give us some details on what tools you used to cut the grooves please?
RaveOfNightmares Posted May 30, 2012 RaveOfNightmares, can you give us some details on what tools you used to cut the grooves please? I used a Dremel rotary tool with a number 426 cutting wheel at relatively low 5000 RPM (my Dremel goes from 5000 to 35000 rpm.) Those little black streaks in the grooves I cut are small friction burns from the cutting wheel. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future. Raen Posted June 3, 2012 Hey guys, I'm new to DDs, I just got my Sakuya. After pulling her apart, I noticed the lower torso part was weird. http://i.imgur.com/mbrVX.jpg Is it suppose to be like this? It closes but doesn't stay closed. Sorry for the god awful picture.
Kumi Posted June 3, 2012 I think it's normal. The spine has two parts and they're put together but not glued. This goes inside some barrel and it holds it anyway.
Raen Posted June 3, 2012 kk, I was worried that eventually the whole thing would crack. Better to be safe than sorry~ Thanks :>
Hypercurve Posted June 3, 2012 Now I'm all worried about my upcoming DDIII Alter I've had my DDS sitting in cross legged position for a whole day, think her joints might have cracked from that? Should I disassemble her and check?
RaveOfNightmares Posted June 4, 2012 Hey guys, I'm new to DDs, I just got my Sakuya. After pulling her apart, I noticed the lower torso part was weird. http://i.imgur.com/mbrVX.jpg Is it suppose to be like this? It closes but doesn't stay closed. Sorry for the god awful picture. That's perfectly normal. As Kumi stated, it has to do with the spine sections being made of multiple parts that are not glued together. Now I'm all worried about my upcoming DDIII Alter I've had my DDS sitting in cross legged position for a whole day, think her joints might have cracked from that? Should I disassemble her and check? It's possible to check the hip sockets for some cracks without removing the legs, but you're better off removing them to check in case the cracks are not visible from having her do the splits. If you're worried that there may be cracks, checking is a good idea. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future. rukitron Posted June 10, 2012 Got Saber Nero today, they made it sound like they were careful to make sure I didn't get a factory derp, the only part that got me nervous was caring for her weg and disassembling.
JoltFiend Posted June 10, 2012 When I picked up my Sabers today at the shop, they checked them both for any cracks. When Nero was getting one of her arms pulled out, it came out a bit too easily. We looked in and there was a crack on the inside. Luckily there were replacement parts in store, so they switched out the upper body section. My Nero wasn't the only one that had that happen to, either.
