FINALLY! The Anniversary dress arrived! <3

It's been a long time since I had this dress commissioned and it seems even  longer since I thought of it in the first place but it's finally arrived and I can now share it with you guys! 

 

For Manami's 10 year anniversary, I did a bunch of photos here showing things she's done in the past.  I also did a huge family photo with all my girls in it that was updated to the time I took it.  But I really wanted to do just one more thing for the anniversary and that was to get a custom made dress for Manami to show off and enjoy just for herself.  No one else is allowed to wear it.  😉

 

I went to a close friend of mine, @Poofiemus, to have her make the dress.  She worked really hard on it for close to two months and did a great job on it.  As you'll see, it looks awesome on Manami.   

 

So let's get to the dress!  Poofie loves 1920's and 30's stylings and I like long elegant gowns/dresses so she decided to do something that gave off not only a vintage feel and look but also that of something a modern lady would wear to a formal event or red carpet event.  I think she nailed it.

As you can see, Manami has done her hair up in a very fancy way for this special occasion!  😉

One thing we both decided was needed was a way to show off Manami's assets while looking glamorous and sexy.  The strapped top does the job perfectly.

Another cool addition was the train out back.  Not super long but just the right length to be elegant.

I  love the addition of the bow on the back of the choker piece.  This is why she has her hair up.... to show off that bow and of course her back.  😉

Of course you can't have elegance without a tad bit of sexy right?  That's why we got this slit up one side.

This shows off her stockings, her stiletto boots ( from the Volks Gangster Girl set ) and the different material Poofie used inside the dress.

The color is really nicely done.  It shimmers in the light and gives off different tones depending on which angle you look at it.

The fit is also very good.  We were worried her large breasts wouldn't fit well since the body Poofie used was a default DDdy bust.

I wish I had a better backdrop to show off this dress and Manami.  This winter I plan to make some kind of display/photo area for the girls out in  my garage for just such photo shoots.  I don't think I do the girls or the outfits justice with boring setups like I have now.  But this is all I got for now so please bear with me.

You're right that I had especially 30's, Golden Age of Hollywood inspiration here. That's the era that most influenced our modern idea of formal evening gowns, but also idealized this long, statuesque silhouette I thought would suit a DD's long legs nicely.

For the curious, the outer fabric is dupioni, flatlined with white cotton. The skirt has a partial lining in red satin. Also, this was my first invisible zipper, so I'm very glad that worked out!

I'm honored that I got to do this for Billy and Manami. . . but also, it was very much for them. It'll probably be another decade before I do another sewing commission!

Beautiful dress! It's perfectly suited to Manami with all the right cuts.

Ha ha ha!  I know it was driving you bonkers but I'm super happy with it and I really do appreciate you going out of your way to do it for me and Manami.     And I can't blame you for not wanting to do more sewing anytime soon.  I tried it once and was fed up after finishing a simple shirt after 5 hours of work.  😉

You are absolutely correct.  I just didn't want to go into all that but now that you have...  😄  

I saw that wig on someone else's girl and was like WHOA.  Where did you get it?  And when they told me I went hunting.  I just had to have it.  And it's just like you said, I had NO plans to put it on Manami.  NONE.  But here you come waltzing in with your dang questions and making me do stuff.  Poor Excellen/Raven has yet to get it on her and she's who I bought it for!  LOL  I didn't mean to leave you out of the process by any means, I just didn't go into the details.  Sorry about that, hopefully you didn't take it the wrong way.  😉

Thank you so much!   Red is her color for sure and Poofie made sure to get a shade that was really close to her eye color so she looked her best.
