Closed Eyeholes?

Hi everyone!

So I was wondering...

What are the closed eyeholes used for?

I mean, why are they there? For painting on instead of using separate eyes? Or are they for people who want to cut them themselves? (I wouldn't, I've heard they're hard to cut.)

Most people use it to save a few bucks on the heads so they cut the eyeholes, but I used to have a beautiful DDH-06 with close eyeholes. She had painted eyes and they looked amazing. To me it was great because I hate putting the eyes on so that save me a lot of trouble. I haven't seen many DD with close eyeholes. The ones I have seen have been modify to have open eyeholes. I have seen a couple that had face ups and it made them look like their eyes are close.

As said, it's really for painting eyes directly on the doll. Animetic eyes are pretty, but imagine painting anything you could want. Honestly you would get beautiful results using oil paint + Liquin.

Some people use the closed eye holes as just that.... closed eyes.  It's not too often you see dolls with closed eyes but there are a few out there.  While not an Obitsu, my 03 head Nami uses closed eyes to great effect I think.  Here's a pic of her for reference:
